A novel of heartless romance and wanton love south of the Mexican border as related by a wandering expat American. Funny, sad, and truthful in its description of his continuing quest for desire that does not desire you back, yet foolish enough to pursue it, realizing that the end result will most undoubtedly end in tragedy. A bitter sweet tale for the search for love and acceptance in it's most raw form.
Steve Stachini reveals the tortured soul of a little boy who was raised by an abusive father. Unveiling the naked truth of the atrocities which occurred, in what appeared to be a normal family. He explains how he managed to control his demons, and live a life, full of creativity, yet full of emptiness and loneliness. With an array of events which seem totally bizarre and incomprehensible to most people. He tells of the strength gained by the love of his Nan and his passion for the music and life of David Bowie. This book also contains a selection of Steve's poetry which also helped him cope with a traumatic life. Written in a conversational style, some stories may shock, amaze and amuse. Edited by Dr. Tracy King (Chartered Clinical Psychologist) who also wrote the enlightening Prologue. The sequel "Amid The Flowers" will also contain a complete psychological review by neuroscientist Elie Lebbos (Co-Editor). Steve would very much like to offer his services for stage talks about a variety of family life abuses, the effects and how to deal with them. Find out more or contact Steve via https: //stachini.com

Every fall, Dad and his buddies drove 200 miles to Jack Hochlander's tiny, unheated Adirondack cabin, centrally located in the middle of nowhere, to hunt deer. In 1957 Dad became part-owner, making him the happiest man on earth. Now, outside hunting season, he brought my brothers and me along, teaching us the ways of the woods - and how not to cook. We had an absolute blast. As Dad said, "We don't have a lot of money, but we have a lot of fun." The cabin became my favorite place on earth, too. Given a choice, I'd take a weekend at the cabin over Christmas. "I can't wait for the day you fellas do the driving," he'd say, sucking on a smoke, steering his latest jalopy up the crumbling old roads. "I'll just relax, look out the window and watch the woods go by. I'm really looking forward to that."Twenty years later, on his sixty-third birthday, February 6, 1979, he got his wish - but I was the only driver. My brothers, wisely, chose not to come. I thought we'd have a great time, snowshoeing, swapping stories around the wood stove, but I never factored in his drinking. Saturday night, drunk, he challenged a group of reviled snowmobilers at the Deer Head Inn and barely escaped with his life. So much for our glorious weekend. After his untimely death at 73, his youngest son Graham took over the cabin. That didn't last long; directly across our road a huge new house was built, spoiling our serenity, wrecking our wilderness, and Graham was gone; now at long last, the place was mine. Like Dad, I started bringing my kids up. Would they feel the same magic Dad and I felt there years before?

Resting in His Grace is book number thirteen in author Charlotte Johnson's series of motivational texts. It has been a long but worthwhile journey through the series. This book, like all others, focuses on the need for God to improve us and on the realization that we are not perfect. We need a savior. This is an excellent book. While reading this book, I hope you can see Dr. Johnson and her journey and challenges through her voice and words and accept her and her story from her perspective. While reading this book, I lost sight of Dr. Johnson's journey and began to focus on my own.It is the book of self-discovery, but it's also a book of liberation and freedom. It is the book that gives you an opportunity to take control of your life, just as Janet Jackson did in her album Control. It is an opportunity to redefine oneself and one's self-identity through the love of God and His perfect vision for our future. My heart's desire and prayer for you are that you also experience God's revealing grace to enable you to find peace and remove any prop or hindrance that is holding you back from Him and His perfect peace. It is also the knowledge that God loves us and cares for us, and that He is our security and not anyone on this earthly plane. He will lead us, guide us, and protect us, comfort us, and give us peace like no one on this earth. This book, above all others, took me on a personal emotional roller coaster, but at the end, it had a cathartic effect. It was worth it.This book is an excellent read for anyone who is truly ready to see themselves with all their ugly flaws, props, and codependency, including dysfunctional relationships and other things that no longer serve their progress but tend to hinder it.The book is useful for mothers who want to instill in their daughters the confidence and freedom to be themselves and develop in a world that will try to limit and define them to hold them back and say that their experiences, their hurt, and their pain have no value and that they should conform. It's also good for daughters, who are trying to send a message to their mothers that, "I appreciate what you've instilled in me, and I've built upon it to make my life my own." It's excellent for family members who want to bring peace and harmony to their families and resolve decades of trauma where dysfunctional functions may have defined or limited the members of the family, paralyzing them. The book goes from a contemporary perspective, such as the book Kindred, by Octavia Butler, to assist in handling and observing past events with the knowledge of a modern audience. Events in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s in our current genre are covered in the book the events-that took place when women were silenced or governed by "familial roles." The societal norms are explained, and various feminist terms are now critiqued through a modern and wiser eye. The concepts of dating, independence, and love bonding, as well as bullying and manipulation to remain in marginalized roles, have evolved.

A thorough and honest account of my life, and of my retarders and how I succeeded despite them, this book is designed to serve as a guidebook or a handbook for individuals, young and old, male or female, Black, White, Hispanic, Indian, Asian, or Native American, during their undaunted and necessary travel through the underbrush of firm selective retarders and chameleon scarecrows. It is not too late to start or resume your journey. It is not too distant to behold what you believe you have the aptitude to do. If you fail-so what! Live!

Barton Rubenstein had a picture-perfect childhood - a loving family, idyllic summers at the beach, and a particularly close kinship with his progressive, charismatic, and devoted mom. When she died after a brutal five-year battle with cancer, Barton, just 18, found himself confronted by unbearable heartbreak. He was also saddened that his mother had not realized many of her dreams and petrified he could meet the same fate. This fear sent him headlong into a life of unexpected adventures and achievements, feeling that tomorrow could be too late. Rubenstein is the author of numerous scientific articles, including in Science and Optical Society of America. As a public artist, with a focus on water and wind kinetic sculpture, he has over 100 commissions worldwide, spanning a career of nearly 30 years. As an environmental activist and cofounder of the Mother Earth Project, he has used his art and that of others to activate sustainable communities in over 80 countries, both raising awareness and demanding better climate laws.
