Lucia's health is rapidly deteriorating, and she must leave the Dark Realm and travel to the Light side before she becomes gravely ill. Chello takes her to the water's edge of the great river separating the realms. He can go no further as his powers are the antithesis to the Light Realm. Lucia insists that he help her cross the river, but once Chello sets foot in the Light Realm, the land becomes violent with massive storms and high winds uprooting everything in their path. Together they run for their lives, but Lucia's health is failing, and she is unable to keep up with Chello. Chello has no alternative but to leave her and return to the Dark side before the light side is frozen in time for a thousand years. Chello leaves, the storm abates, and Lucia sleeps in the undergrowth until she is woken by Father Michael.
