Om America, here we come
It could have happened 120,000 years ago when a young man left the dry savanna and wandered along the Nile to an unknown mystical country.
Or 6000 years ago when he, we call him "Ötzi" (he was ambushed and killed in the Ötztal mountains), left the Stilt Village in Lake Constance (Bodensee), and climbed over the Alps, where adventure and fortune beckoned.
Or 200 years ago on a sailing ship across the stormy Atlantic on a journey to the country of his future. Now, on a fast modern passenger ship, he stood at the railing. The waves hit the fifth floor of the ship, the Bremen. Other passengers were seasick. In the 60 feet high waves he imagined an immigrant sailing ship crammed full of people with nothing but hope.
What draws us into the distance? Curiosity? Hope for a better life? Escape?
This book tells about a long fight against many obstacles and against greedy enemies. It is also a lesson, how one must fight establishment to succeed. It is the fate of a family, who emigrated from the affluent Germany to the melting pot of nations, to America.
