A Backyard Gardener's Quest to Combat Climate Chaos

Climate change and the resulting climate chaos is damaging and polluting our environment. Many of us struggle to determine what we can individually do to help mitigate the impacts of climate change. The global scale of the environmental and economic destruction may seem insurmountable. We all want to be able to tell our children and grandchildren what we did to address climate crisis once the scientific facts were clear. There are millions of backyard gardeners around the world. Millions of us with the knowledge and the drive to make a positive difference in our lives and the lives of future generations. There are many proactive steps we can take in our daily activities to address this challenge. There are actions we can take in our homes, in our communities, and in our yards. Small changes in everyday habits can make big changes in the health of our planet - the health of our home. Dr. Cullen is a Virginia Master Gardener, an Audubon Ambassador, a Virginia Tree Steward, and a Climate Reality Leader. Professionally. she is a satellite engineer currently working as a technical consultant to the U.S. Government. Working on environmental sustainability issues has become a passion to ensure we have healthy environments to live and work in the future.
