The potential to achieve virtue over vice challenges human beings to keep open the search for truth. Hope over despair, affection over hate, good over evil, our existence marked with the burden and the ecstasy of the human condition. People of faith and many leaders of goodwill concur with Pope Francis of Rome's proclamation that "the true strength of the Christian is the power of truth and love, faith leading to the renunciation of all violence." From Portents Dark to Promises of Light II: Reflections on People, Politics and Places is unique in that the author delves into issues deeply important, but perhaps too sensitive for others. The book's poetry moves from shades of dark to shining moments of inspiration. Paradoxical topics affecting our world - abortion, capital punishment, LGBT rights, color and gender issues, victims of abuse, war and peace, mental angsts, seniority and aging, free enterprise, detached phantoms, fatality and hell - are provocative ideas that lead some to take on destructive deeds, repeatedly haunting civilizations. Seamlessly the book weaves into poignant verses about soulful places and unforgettable people, daughters, family, friends and children. With space and time contained frozen within a recollections bottle, the poem enthusiast is ushered inside a momentary chamber warm and optimistic, vista conjuring loving relationships, blissful recollections and youthful laughter, pure and contagious. The book's journey starts with thoughts on death and closes with hopeful promises about immortality. The author and her family are longtime residents of Kailua, Hawaii. They briefly lived in San Rafael, California, Indianapolis, Indiana, Franklin, Tennessee, Springfield, Virginia and Ellicott City, Maryland. Professor Estrella Besinga Sybinsky taught Political Science courses at the University of Hawaii, Windward campus, at Sonoma State University, Indiana University Purdue University Columbus and Butler University in Indianapolis. She does readings/book signings and public speaking.
he Great Commission commands we "make disciples." Unfortunately the church has struggled with her primary mission and has been grossly negligent in equipping ordinary church members to become Great Commission leaders. Consequently, Tim developed a strategy consisting of Five Principles to Make and Multiply Disciples through Small Groups. This book provides a concentrated focus on how to intentionally develop and deploy the common layman within the local church. "These 'Five Principles' are being worked out every day in the life of our church. Dr. Tim Yates not only helped us transform our disciple-making process, he applied these same principles to impact the neighborhood where he lives. This book is a valuable resource of sound biblical truths and practices that help churches and individuals fulfill the Great Commission." Dr. David Lemming Pastor of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church Huntington, West Virginia "Nailed it! Tim has accurately defined the five principles of making and multiplying disciples through the small group ministry. Yet, even more importantly, he has applied them. Discover the secrets behind the success he is seeing in growing and multiplying leaders and groups in his church." Dr. Dave Earley, Pastor, Grace City Church, Las Vegas Associate Professor, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary Author of Eight Habits of Effective Small Group Leaders "Five Principles to Make and Multiply Disciples through the Small Group Ministry is not based on theory it is based on real world experience and practice in a local church. I have seen and experienced first-hand Tim's passion and practice in obeying our Lord's Great Commission. This book will be helpful to any follower of Christ or any church desiring to develop followers of Christ." Dr. Rod Dempsey Professor, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, Lynchburg Virginia. Tim is the Administrator/Small Groups Pastor at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia.
Some have heard about the Moravians, but even less have heard about Count Zinzendorf. He was a man of prayer, a man of passion for the "Martermann," the Man of Sorrows. He could preach all day without tiring. During a sermon he could talk himself into such exhilaration about his Savior that frequently, in rhythmic staccato, he would spontaneously break into impromptu rhyming lyrics, somewhat like the oral poets of ancient Greek and modern rappers. He was an itinerant vagabond for Christ. He urged the Moravians to pray unceasingly, and they prayed unremittingly for over a hundred years. In worship services men and women were separated, but he was instrumental in infusing such a Christian love among the Brethren that he had to advise them not to kiss so loudly that it "schmatzt," made a loud smacking sound, when they exchanged the kiss of peace. He entreated the Moravians without coercing to have a burden for lost souls. He wrote that he himself was not so much a God-fearing, but a God-joyful person. Yet he knew suffering. He was harassed as a boy in a boarding school; called a beast by a friend he protected; greeted by a jester in the royal court of Berlin, because the king thought he was a fool; exiled from his beloved homeland; accused of gross misconduct by newspapers in Pennsylvania; and lost nine of his twelve children prematurely. But Zinzendorf knew where to get his strength. Even in his early youth he developed an intimacy with the Lamb of God through prayer. This is a story of persecution, of dissension, of Spirit-filled boldness, of daring enterprises, of dying on mission fields and of congenial relations among the Brethren. The story of the Moravians in the eighteenth century reminds us perhaps of the chronicle of the early Christians in Acts.
This book is imagination, things heard and seen, except the spirit of camaraderie. Otherwise it is fiction.
Luke 24:49 and Acts 1:8 are parts of the last precious words of our Savior before ascending to heaven. These two commands of the Great Commission have been neglected by a large portion of the church. I believe this book will help you to: 1. Have a better understanding of these two precious commands 2. Fuel discussions across the church 3. Encourage you to desire the dunamis of the Spirit 4. Encourage you and the church to seek the dunamis by persevering in prayer 5. Spark little fires of revival throughout the church 6. Ignite all the small fires into one big fire of revival. I pray to God that as you read this book, it will inspire you to rise up to be among God's Giants in the days to come. The author is a teacher/evangelist. He has shared the gospel tirelessly for over twenty-five years. For over ten years, he preached at Speakers' Corner in London. He has a heart for souls and is expecting God to send revival, especially in London.

There are many possible crossroads in life, some considered life changing events. The major event that changed our lives was the loss of a teenage son in a shooting incident on December 1, 1983. We began a quest for truth regarding the happenings surrounding that loss only to encounter lies and deception from the two boys who were hunting with Darrell that fateful day. The criminal investigation was minimal to begin with and was significantly stalled by clever actions of the lawyer who began to represent the suspected shooter on the day of the incident. Many months later my distraught and frustrated wife entered the office of Dr. Bruce Dunn, the Senior Pastor of a Bible believing, Bible teaching church. In tears and overwhelming emotion she related how empty we both were and how lost we seemed to be. That day changed our lives as a new spiritual awareness and a trusting relationship with Jesus as our Lord and Savior began to evolve. So, while seeking the truth of the incident that was froth with lies and deception we ran into another truth; the truth of the Bible. We now know and accept that God wants us to be active in making that truth available to others. However, I still ask why does it take a tragedy in one's life to recognize you are not on the right path in life? This book reveals strong evidence as to why one can trust God's written word as inerrant and authoritative. The Word of God opens paths of trust, not doubt. Assurance of your salvation lies within. And that is why the evidence should be shared with all your loved ones. God's word must be embraced as truth to be applicable to life - now and forever. Who should read this book: Anyone who has doubts about the truth and inerrancy of the Bible or who has siblings, children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends or business associates that have similar doubts should read this book. The book offers the facts that are within the Bible that should convince any reader that God wants everyone to accept his plan for salvation of sinners by His grace alone.
Our biggest midlife challenge isn't desire. It's time. Finding time to pause. Time to simply breathe in and maybe, actually, to take back. Take back a little time to do something for ourselves that is long overdue. To... well... quite literally... rethink - reprioritize - recommit These three simple steps guide us in taking more personal responsibility in life's five big choices: mind, body, spirit, money, and hq. Sooner or later it becomes crystal clear. Life is not a dress rehearsal. This book will remind you why today is not a good day to put your dreams on hold. Midlife crisis is spending our life chasing our dreams and finally getting there, more or less. But in looking around we think, "This isn't what I wanted!" Mid Life Celebration is using our gut-wrenching discovery, also known as a wake up call, to change things. But in another minute we will be on our way to some other important, shiny thing. Because, well, that is how we have learned to medicate ourselves. We unknowingly default to life's constant distractions. Why? Perhaps because we do not feel worthy of success and because, deep down, maybe we do not feel we deserve an extraordinary second half. And even if we did, where the heck do we start? It took jeff noel 30 years to write this book's first sentence, and four more years to find the courage to finish it. He lives behind Orlando's most famous theme park and has thrived for the past 30 years in one of the most admired companies in the world. Since 1999 jeff has spoken to one-million people worldwide.
God's grace is ready and waiting; eager to saturate every part of your life with His love. Grace is Jesus personified, Holy Spirit delivered. Grace can rework your perceptions of the past, renew your heart in the present, and shape your responses in the future. Grace exposes us to the redeeming love of Jesus, who is not only Redeemer of our eternal soul, but also our existing stuff. God's grace overpowers us, enables us, and unravels us. Grace is God's explosive entrance into our lives, carrying His purpose and plans for our destiny - in spite of our mess and because of our mess. Grace is all about Jesus. Once we learn the freedom in abandoning ourselves to the downpour of God's grace, we will be consumed with a contagious desire to extend it toward others, making us true grace-carriers. In her book, Grace Like Rain, Diana Kriesel shares her personal journey as God applied His grace to a life devastated by childhood sexual abuse, transforming her history into His story of freedom and peace. For each issue she faced, including betrayal, abandonment, trust, and the need to forgive; grace showed up, invading her brokenness with restoration and wholeness. She invites you to experience the power of grace as it draws you toward increased intimacy with the Father, releasing a divine enablement to walk in your God-ordained destiny. Go ahead, get saturated by grace!
I started writing around the age of 12 shortly after an incident that happened to me one night when I was unable to go to sleep. Then, when I reached my early twenties and my confused little world began to crumble, my Evangelistic babysitter suggested I read the poems that the Lord inspired me to write and see if he had a message for me. After reading and re-reading them, I was amazed to learn that God had an answer for me in every poem. And when I started praying, studying the Bible and began going to church on a regular basis, the messages in the poems began to intensify and change. Because the more I went to church and listened to the sermons and surrounded myself with people who sincerely believed in Christ, the more I was inspired to write. The poems have encouraged me in many ways and have helped me to grow in my faith, as well. So, whenever God gives me an opportunity to share with others the words He has given me, I do just that. And whenever the Lord wakes me up at 3:00am with words for me to write, I get some paper by my bedside, turn on the light and I write. I really didn't understand the gift of writing in my younger age, but now I do.
ANDREA CLARK is just one of many who have asked God this timeless question: "Why did you allow all of this bad stuff to happen to me?" While growing up in the Oakland Projects, Andrea was molested as a kid, promiscuous during her teenage years, and sold drugs as an adult. Andrea finally took a self-reflected look over her life and asked, "Why did you allow me to go through so much and you, God, not intervene?" But what she came to realize was the WHY was not as important as the WHAT--what was she to learn from all of this? Through all of the sufferings, the heartache, and the pain, every experience was working for her good. Even though life dealt her a bad hand, everything that happened was for a reason and God, through it all, had her best interest at heart. Learn from her story of trial to triumph. She learned and you will too, that there was a reason why no one cried for the little girl ....
Using the visual image of a tsunami as a powerful metaphor, Patty Nelson examines the overwhelming wave of pressure that adolescents experience regarding their identity and core belief system beginning around age 12 and continuing through the teenage years. She describes this peer and cultural pressure as a Cultural Tsunami that is engulfing this generation. As Nelson describes it, "This destructive wave of pressure comes through the school environment, television, movies, the internet, music, peers, older siblings and sometimes parents themselves. Often adolescents and their parents don't know what hit them. Their entire perspective on their own identity and their relationship to the world around them is shaken to the core. Behavior that was once praised as good is now ridiculed. Beliefs about "good" and "bad" are turned upside down. Good is no longer good and bad is no longer bad. Clothing choices, hairstyles and body type that went largely unchallenged in elementary school are now looked down upon and harshly critiqued by peers." Patty Nelson has tremendous insight into the youth culture and offers sound biblical solutions. A must-read for parents, youth workers, pastors and for those who love our youth! Patty Nelson is a wife, mother of four and grandmother. She currently works as a Family Therapist specializing in adolescents and teens and their families. She also brings the perspective of a stay-at-home mom for 17 years, a Sunday School teacher and a Youth Worker.
Just as when "the fullness of time" had come, God sent His Son Jesus at the precise moment in history to perfectly fulfill God's plan of Salvation and spread the Gospel throughout the world, at the End of the Age everything will fall into place correctly to set the stage for the Anti-Christ and his New World Order. That is "Satan's Plan for the Ages", and it's happening right now. Supernatural darkness is descending upon America and the world. But God has a better plan for His People: "Our Last Mission"! We have not been called to curse the darkness, but to spread the Light of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Last Mission is to go out into the field and gather in the final, End-Time Harvest. We are the generation chosen to bring in the "fullness of the Gentiles", to win those souls for Christ who will be saved before the Rapture. We have been born for such a time as this! Pastor Patrick Winfrey has been a full-time missionary in the Philippines since August, 2007, where he has planted many churches and established a Bible School in addition to conducting revivals, evangelistic crusades, Pastor's conferences on the End Times, and medical missions. In August 2012, the Lord began opening new doors of outreach for Pastor Patrick and "Joshua's Ministry" was born. Joshua's Ministry now consists of an orphanage and feeding programs that are operated through various churches which now feed and share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with 300-400 children per week. He and his wife, Jessa, along with a team of pastors and families, forcefully, by Faith, advancing the Kingdom for our Lord in the remote and largely never-before-evangelized areas of the Island of Mindanao, Philippines.

Life was different back in the day. Community was vital. Childhood antics, teenage exploits, and the challenges of young adulthood revealed I didn't know what I thought I knew. Through all of this, the greatest influence of my life was my mom. She helped me process the good and the bad. Instead of being one-dimensional live, love, and laugh with the great intention and anticipation of more. As she is no longer with me her words and laughter linger on, and I am emancipated. I learned that the greatest gift of life was and truly is love; unpretentious, nurtured, and existing to be shared with others. Do you believe animals have a soul and that following their physical death their soul is received into heaven? This twofold question is asked more often than not of our Christian clerics. It is a question which seriously befuddles many, amuses some, and irritates and mortifies still others. Following the death of dog handler Marine Corporal David Devonshire while on deployment in Iraq, his canine partner, a German shepherd, Sergeant Amicus, is adopted by the Corporal's young family. Spurred on by their adopted charge, the Corporal's widow, Kate Devonshire and son Luke, endeavor to find their own answer to this vexing question. Life is never the same for Kate and Luke after Amicus joins the Devonshire household. Through this endearing creature, the Corporal's family experiences a release from the constraints of their sorrow, allowing them to once again embrace God's promise of new beginnings. This story takes the reader full circle and Amicus serves as a reminder that though God's creatures may live but in the shadows of our busy lives, they never fail in their own unique way to make an indelible impression. Then, when the time comes for them to leave us, more often than not we are left, better people because of them. Jane Amelia Smith was born and raised on Long Island, New York. Parts of this story are a testimony about a man that found a new life in Jesus Christ. His life thereafter will astound you. Of course, names and places are fictitious. The book focuses on various spiritual subjects, identifying with those that have, or will face a divided home because of his or hers conversion to Christ. It warns sinners that hell has her mouth wide open for the impenitent. The story is also evangelistic sharing God's love for man. The author answers questions that have perplexed man concerning God's relationship with His creation. Lastly, it warns of the forthcoming sorrow that will challenge the faith of American saints.
Will we be able to stand firm in times of adversity? We'll probably never really know until we are faced with it. In the scriptures God tell us in (Job 14:1) that man (who is born of a woman) is of a few days, and full of trouble, agitation, commotion, and turmoil. Aran Zellar expected trouble from Chuck Deedemair, But he held on to faith that God would stand by him and help him overcome his fear and apprehension. (Psalm 34:17) The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. (Psalm 46:1) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. God never said he would keep us from experiencing trouble, but he did promise to be with us through our trouble. Without God we are powerless to stand against the wiles of the devil, but with him we can stand up to anything. Aran knew the truth of God's word, and he knew that faith could conquer any fears the devil tried to put in his path. Often it's a frightening situation to walk up to to someone and talk to them about God, Why? Because God just isn't mentioned in our society, unless we're a born-again believer, in which case such a conversation is usually confined within the church. Joe was also contrary to the subject of God and the church, but through abiding faith and perseverance Aran planted a productive seed in Joe's mind that subsequently led to salvation in his heart. The fishing trip shows how God can and does use different everyday occurrences to get the salvation message accross. And the auto accident with Amos Boden shows precisely how God protects us through dangerous times. Do we have the enduring faith we need to trust God with our life, through good times and bad, through trouble and adversity? Be sure you know where you will spend eternity. God says there are only two choices: Heaven or hell.
