It takes just a step in faith, but casting your burdens onto Jesus and drawing near to God are the most rewarding choices a person will ever make in his/her spiritual life. It's more than just following a religion; it is establishing and cultivating a relationship with the Heavenly Father and Savior of your soul. In author Terry Williams' new book, You, Jesus and the Father: It's a Relationship, Not a Religion, the focus is about bringing God into your life and finding deliverance from sin and healing from Jesus. Terry describes the two perspectives people have towards faith; those backsliding in faith and those who are actively drawing to God. The hope is that you, the reader, will gain spiritual awakening as Jesus helps you forgive the past and be open to blessings that can only come through a relationship, not a religion. Go ahead; take that first step.

Dr. Williams offers a clear and concise explanation of the concept of the Anointing from a Biblical perspective. Using King David as the model, Dr. Williams shows how the anointing actually expresses itself in real life situations. We learn from this work that the anointing is far more than just a temporary and intermittent wave of emotions that come over us during the excitement of a highly spirited worship experience. But, a true biblical anointing is human acquiescence to the desire of God to express Himself in the world through a unique gift, skill, talent or character trait with which He has endowed every human being. When a man is operating in the power of his anointing, it results in the salvation, edification, and inspiration of some person, community, institution or organization, to the glorification of God. Dr. Williams challenges us to allow God to express Himself through those gifts, skills and talents for His glory thus, transforming you into an Anointed Man of God and making our world a better place.

There is a joy that comes from finding the "little something extra" to life! In Lagniappe, Pastor Tim speaks to the question that has often been asked, "Is there a purpose to this life?" Whether or not people are willing to admit this truth, everyone is seeking for something to make sense out of all that they see around them. Of course, the best way people learn is through trial and error. So, they attempt to find fulfillment in all kinds of ways. Whether it is through relationships, money, power, or religion, everyone is looking to fill the voids in their lives. Lagniappe will show you how to both find that meaning and then live it out on a daily basis. Whereas all other sources will leave you unsatisfied and hopeless, the source of true Joy will bring you to a place of fulfillment and satisfaction. You will not only begin to really enjoy life, you will have a strong desire to see others come along with you on this journey. Joy is real and finding it is possible. Let Lagniappe challenge you to discover this truth for yourself! Tim Rowell is the pastor of Flatonia Baptist Church which is located in central Texas. Pastor Tim's ministry is shared by his wife, Debra and their two children, Matthew and Kaitlyn. Together, their desire is to be the "hands and feet" of Christ in their community. It is their joy to see people come to know Christ and experience God's love on a deeper level. Pastor Tim holds a business degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

A season of singleness can be a time period filled with highs and lows, opportunities to serve God and times of reflection on what your singleness means. For author Lori Grandstaff, her singleness had been filled with work, family/friends and faith, but she realized that God made her a relational being for that special guy. Her new book, Perfect Love, is her dating testimonial of returning to Jesus, her first love, and how this relationship led her to a meaningful Christian courtship with her now-fiancée Kevin. Her book offers text messages, emails and conversations she had with Kevin in friendship before relationship; grappling with purity in dating, discussing past relationships, facing trials as a couple and keeping God first in their union. Her willingness to not settling for anything less than God's best proves that when God brings two Christians together, He intends it as a marriage made for Heaven.

Your children have just been caught in a lie, or are refusing to do their household chores. What is your first instinct to do as the parent? Sit your child down for an intense lecture on the rights and wrongs of his/her behavior. However, what your lecture is not doing is teaching your child to think and be accountable for his/her actions. Parents and authors Joey and Carla Link saw how their own lectures didn't produce the desired obedience from their three children, so they talked more and lectured less; imploring consistent parenting that motivated their children to be more responsible and aware of actions. Their advice and real-life experiences are included in their educational guide, Taming the Lecture Bug and Getting Your Kids to Think. The book offers parents helpful, biblical parenting solutions that encourage children's thinking before acting and parents' patience with children instead of resorting to lecturing.

Jesus is the most controversial person ever born! My goal is to show you Jesus in His humanity and in His holiness. To show you Jesus as a person so connected to His Heavenly Father that you have to be awed by His relationship and bond to obey and bring glory to God only. I had searched for a book to share with friends that covered all this information in an easy to read and easy to assimilate manner but could not find one. It is not my intention to preach or hypothesize but to share the facts as the Bible gives them. In this book each chapter is a unit in itself. It's not written as a story to be read straight thru, it is separate chapters with subtitles within so you can enjoy and absorb the parts you would be interested in. I've used quotes from the Bible to tell the story; I didn't use my words when it was already written perfectly by New and Old Testament writers. Using various translations the narrative became clearer. The author has been a Christian since a young child who went through every stage of growing and maturing in faith. In association with wonderful Bible teachers over the years, the revelation of the greatness of God became real. Sharing this good news in book form was directed by the Holy Spirit and it is only with His help could this book have been written. Delving into the life of Jesus was an exciting adventure in the Bible: checking and crosschecking on the different aspects of His life and ministry; His personality and relationships; His deity and his humanity was life changing. I hope it will be for you, too.

  • - A Comparative Investigation
    av Carl E Moyler

This book is dedicated to all those heroes and heroines who have seen and will see life as a daring adventure to be given in the name of service to humanity, to justice and to freedom. We know a few of them, but many others are lost among the nameless crowd. Albert Camus and Martin Luther King Jr are two first class role models who lived out their passions for justice and freedom. Today, they are among the heroes who are well remembered around the world. The following words seem appropriate to reflect what they stood for: "For all who have sought to make a difference in the lives of men by their service and life, and to lighten the dark places of the earth" (Source: inscription on the wall of the Civil Rights Museum, 16th street, Birmingham, Alabama, USA) (Author unknown). Camus and King were born, reared and lived as personal witnesses to the political, economical and social ravages of their time and place. Neither man was willing to stand in the presence of tyranny, oppression, racism, exploitation, murder, war and do nothing. Therefore their response, based on their calling, was a revolt for freedom. Camus was the moral conscience of thousands of people, young and old, in Europe, the United states, and other places. He was able to impart to generations past and present a vision of hope and courage that gave optimism to doubt and uncertainty. Likewise, Dr. King in his nonviolent American civil rights struggle has left a message for present and future times a philosophy of militant nonviolent revolt in the face of overwhelming nullification against himself and his followers that is infused with hope, justice and love. Comparing the writings of these two Nobel Laureates and international hero-scholars is put forth here as a contribution to the never ending quest for a more just, humane and rational world where we coexist in a civilized society in pursuit of being "My brother's keeper."

As a child I suspected that there was more to life than I could conceive. I would lie on my back on a hill top or a grassy bank and stare at the sky.Night, day, it did not matter. I looked. I pondered. I felt connection but also disconnected. No one seemed to be able to help.I grew away from wonderment and turned to habit. At some point my life took some horrible turns. Some were choices I made, some were not. Over time I made more and more painful, hurtful choices - for hurt people hurt people. Pain overtook my life. Depression set in. Looking back it was a nightmare with few pockets of joy. And then while walking through a grocery store in August of 1989 He met me. His presence overwhelmed me. I was amazed. Over time I began to ponder again. To look. To realize how great He was.Yet... life still took some crazy turns. Death, destruction and more, caused me to wonder. Was my life just a mess? Or was it just being unraveled? Restored? Made whole?Too often in our lives we think the bad things dictate the future. Yet some 25 years after embracing Him, I have seen His hand weave a marvelous tapestry of friends, family and faith through out my life.My life is an open book. My ministry often predicated not on my successes but my mistakes. Yet, I have found in the midst of pain, the middle of hurt, He was there. I do not look at my life as failure, but the life of one who did not "beat the odds" but engaged with the One who overcame death to allow me to live whole and love wide.

The focus of this book is on the four gospels. Each gospel was written with different readers in mind, different cultures and in different languages. All had one focus. Matthew, Luke and John were all eye witnesses of Jesus. Mark learnt from the disciples staying in his mother's home and from Peter and his teaching in Rome. Jesus emphasised the importance of his Word. It is our guide in this life and the basis of the culture in heaven. We need to be thoroughly trained by his Word and be ready to respond to his prompting. I hope this book will motivate the reader to study the gospels and learn of Christ in greater depth.

" ... I think your title is quite provocative, but in a good way. It will generate an interest in your book and persons will be drawn to it because of the title. Many persons feel this way and will [w]ant to read your book in order to answer their own questions. ... In the manuscript you recount what the "stupid" things are and you provide thorough and truthful answers. ... The style of the book is dialogical. In this you are in great company with other great philosophers (Plato) and theologians (Luther and Calvin). ... As far as the biblical interpretation and hermeneutics I think you are on solid ground. ... In a very clever way you have incorporated astute theological reflections in a folksy, everyday manner." -Homer U. Ashby, Jr., Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Pastoral Care, McCormick Theological SeminaryThrough the process of "The Sanctified Imagination", the reader will follow Al and his wife, Dot, as they interview outstanding (and sometimes overlooked), biblical servants of God, both men and women. Afterwards, dress lightly as you experience an enlightening ride with Jesus on a warm Chicago summer day. Finally, bring your sunglasses as you sit in a television studio audience in Bethlehem, while Dot and Al interview GOD ... it will be exhilarating and eye opening! ALBERT A. "Not my will, but your will be done" may be a recognized verse from Luke 22:42, but it is also a calling to every Christian to daily choose God's will over their own. Submitting to God's will is a challenge for every person, as human free will can prevent people from following Jesus, and instead embrace their sin natures and the world's systems. As author William Femi Awodele describes in his new book, Battlefield of the Will, people are in the midst of a battle of wills between Satan's kingdom of darkness and God's kingdom of light. William depicts the human soul as a mixture of mind, will and emotion, which Satan can enter into and cause doubt towards God's love and power. By renewing one's mind in Jesus through salvation and being led by the Holy Spirit, not emotion, Satan can be hindered and God's loving will can prevail.
