Epidemics, racism and religious wars plagued the 21st century. It had to end somewhere. We strove to recreate paradise. We segregated the population into cultural groups, to minimize conflict. We closed the borders. We created an elite class that would maintain order and security. Ruins and artifacts, damaged paintings and crumbling stone pillars remained- shadows of an ancient world, reflections of a forgotten faith. We neglected the lessons of history: "those who promise us paradise on earth, never produced anything but a hell." In this distorted paradise, Delta is selected for a role that forces her to question her identity and throws into conflict the ideals of the individual and the collective. The struggle becomes epitomized in the face of one man- Lieutenant Braydan -a man whose loyalties cannot be questioned. Will the relationship destroy them both?
Simplify the season this year by making time for your Savior. He is the reason for the season, and He is the One to be celebrated and worshiped. When we make a choice to simplify, we make room in our hearts and lives for His presence. Let's make a promise to focus on the One who is, was, and is to come. We do not have to exhaust and bankrupt ourselves both physically and financially. Let's not be so focused on Christmas that we miss Christ. May this simple Advent devotional help you as you pursue Him. Erin Olson is the founder of Sandalfeet Ministries (sandalfeet.org). Most of the blacks in our community were not able to attend school during the planting, cultivating and harvesting season due to the fact that they were sharecroppers. My parents, however, made sure we received an education by making us attend school anyhow. There were four families residing on this rented land. All of us were related. I called it a village, because looking back, all the adults took part in raising all the children. In modern day language, whether near or far, I guess it really does "take a village to raise a child." We all went to school together. Our school was one large room with a pot belly stove. It is where children of all ages gathered together to get an education. My aunts were all teachers, and it often seemed to me that they were harder on me and then they were on many of the other students. I understand now why, and I am grateful they didn't cut me slack because my name was Peterson. Even with the education I have received, it has been difficult at best to maintain employment. I can't imagine how difficult it would have been had I not been educated and motivated by teachers such as my "Aunties" as I call them. I was raised during a time when the parents raised up children using the wise counsel offered in the Scriptures ... Particularly "spare the rod and spoil the child" located in the Proverbs of Solomon. Our parents were keenly aware of the importance of us having an education. I remember attending school at the beginning of the school year earlier than other children so that the teachers were encouraged to apply the "board of education" to the "seat of knowledge" lest we not take our education seriously. I can personally attest to the fact that they took heed to our parent's instruction. When my father died of leukemia, I was only 14 years old. Although my oldest brother Eddie and my sister Esther were away from home attending boarding school, my education had to be put on hold. I had to go to work and support our family as every able-bodied male in the family was supposed to do. At that time, there were no social security benefits, and certainly no welfare benefits. So, Eddie and I began working at the same sawmill where my father had also worked to help support the family. Although we were all devastated by the loss of our father, by the grace of God, in whom we were taught to believe in from a child, we were able to survive.

Dr. Joy Wilson, victor over incest and practical Bible teacher, supports the ministries of pastors and Christian leaders for the prevention of domestic violence and the redemption of women who have suffered from this trauma. She has ministered in East Africa, the United States of America, the Caribbean and several congregations in Guyana where she lives. She earned the degree of Doctor of Transformational Leadership at Bakke Graduate University, Dallas, Texas. Her dissertation presented research to show that incest is a silent cancer in the church. Dr. Wilson believes that Christian ministry must specifically address the needs of women who have suffered childhood incest. Such women need to be spiritually empowered for transformational leadership in marriage and family. Dr. Wilson, member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and author of Jesus Removed My Grave Clothes; also has degrees in Social Work and Counseling Psychology. She serves as part-time faculty for the University of Guyana and the Guyana Wesleyan Bible College. She and her husband are parents of four and grandparents to five.
The book describes a marvelous change in handling finances bringing confidence into a household of uncertainty and power into a household of fear. The New Financial Nature changes worry into confidence with power from the Holy Spirit. Individually the change is awesome. The book also exposes us to sinful, hurtful, and corrupt financial transactions. Your personal money nature is the sum of qualities, temperament, values, and worldview making you distinct from others. The New Financial Nature is a change in all personal characteristics about money from the inside out, from a change in heart, formed by the Holy Spirit. With the New Financial Nature the budget balances not because of computer software, or intensified guilt, or a motivating life coach, but because a change in heart changes the desire, the hunger for things replacing these pushers with a new contentment, a new satisfaction, a new financial peace. The heart is changed by the power of God so we are governed by new and holy motives. The change is extraordinary and affects work habits, entertainment, saving, giving, and attitudes in financial storms. We live in a sinful world with unholy motives and hurtful financial transactions around us in families, companies, and government. Practicing Christians are to be a light in the midst of this dark financial world and with a New Financial Nature we have power to say no and turn away from enticing unholy activities and power to overcome financial struggles in innovative ways. Douglas C. Knisely is a Certified Public Accountant and a former Certified Financial Planner with master degrees in business and religion. The author experienced God working financial miracles when starting a sole proprietorship and persevered him through financial storms including a business failure and stage four non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma.

It is a heart rendering story of her experiences in an orphanage and her foster care experiences. The first foster home she was placed in was with a sexual predator, which during those two years, brought her to the point of suicide. The second foster home was with a pastor and his wife. This home was a safe place and helped her with a new perspective and hope for a reason to live.
In the church today, Satan has presented a deceptively false gospel message, weaving lies into the truth so that many seekers are uncertain how to actually become saved, while some believers remain anxious over whether they are truly saved. In How to Know (If You Are Going to Heaven), author Stephen Clark uses the light of God''s Word to present a clear and gospel-driven guide to true and lasting salvation. He begins by proclaiming that while heaven is the eternal destination of Christians, the only way in is through a relationship with Christ Himself. Throughout the book, discipleship and fellowship with the one true God is shown to be the only true road to heaven. Using the support of Scripture for each teaching, Stephen Clark walks readers down the simple but profound journey of hope found in assured salvation. Steps along the journey include discussions of heaven and hell, the need for a heart change, faith and belief, repentance and confession, and much more. By the end of How to Know (If You Are Going to Heaven), you will reach a play of joy and freedom in the assurance of eternal life in heaven with Jesus Christ. Join us on the journey!John 8:12 (ESV)"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ''I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.''"
Have you ever just spent some time thinking what it must be like to live in a part of the world where there is very little contact with the rest of the world? Aside from the great differences in the 'way of life', there is little knowledge about most of the things we take for granted in our knowledge of the history of the world. This story is about a woman who lives in a tribe of people isolated from modern society, and most especially, with no knowledge of God or the Gospel. Take this journey and find out what it's like to live in 'darkness' with all kinds of questions within yourself and then, one day, to find 'light'. You'll be glad you did. "Solomon''s timeless proverbs can at times seem confusing. After all, when the King said, "The beginning of wisdom is ... get wisdom," many of us are left scratching our heads saying, "Okay, now what?" Well, to find solid answers, you couldn''t do better than the book you''re holding. My friend and colleague Brian has captured the heart and soul of Solomon''s proverbs; offering good old fashion biblical shoe-leather for believers walking through this age of post-modern landmines. Devotions from Proverbs is more than a book, it''s a lifetime resource. You''ll come back to it again and again. Oh yeah!" -Ron Walters - Senior VP of Ministry Relations - Salem Media Group"When I was asked to consider endorsing Brian''s new book, I found myself quickly onboard for the task and here are a few reasons why: not only is he a longtime friend, but he is a man of integrity and wisdom. But where did Brian get the insights and the disciplines that have guided his life? He has gleaned well from the book of Proverbs, and in so doing he has been counseled by the heart and mind of King Solomon himself. In this excellent devotion, Brian writes to us not from the lofty peaks of theology or some remote spiritual retreat - he writes to you and me from the street, the workplace, and right where you and I live. I cannot think of a better way for a man or woman to begin each day than to have a Bible in one hand and this tender devotion in the other."-Pastor Jack Hibbs, Calvary Chapel Chino Hills and Real Radio Host

What Others Don''t Know is an Autobiography of how, Jones, a young native of Boston, Mass has gone through and overcame a variety of rough times that presented themselves in his life. In this true story, he explains some events that happened and how he overcame them. He describes the power of having the right people there to keep him on the right track as well as the power of God that kept him thru these distinct yet similar events. This book goes over these situations that seemed to happen real close together and how the reader can finish the book with a different viewpoint.
What Was Jesus Doing In Hell?First, He went to bear our judgment; second, to put the devil in his place. The irony is that this story has lain in plain view for two thousand years, yet the devil has succeeded in blinding men from seeing it. For it describes how Jesus gave Satan the beating up of his life in Hell. There are a handful of New Testament Scriptures which bear testimony to the accuracy of this story. But Jesus Himself directs us to make a thorough study of the Old Testament prophecies, which provide a graphic and complete account of His experiences on the cross and in the Underworld.Prophecy is writing about events before they happen! It is clear that the Author of the Bible, the Holy Spirit, chose to give the most vivid and compelling version of the story in the Old Testament hundreds of years in advance! For that was also a way of proving to the world that the Bible is the Word of God. And He threw in a judicious sprinkling of New Testament verses to confirm what had been prophesied. The evidence highlighted in this book has been neglected for too long. It needs to be widely read, studied and discussed in Christian circles. Throughout life we all experience transitions, however, the Eighth Day will be the upmost. This book is a biblical perspective on life-after-death. It is written to address the fear so many experience at the thought of leaving the physical body in what Reverend Alyce Spells Kelly has named The Eighth Day. The number eight is a special number. Widely known to represent "new beginning," it also symbolizes "new life" or "resurrection."Having ministered to the sick and dying, walked with their families, and officiated funerals during her tenure as pastor, Reverend Alyce Spells Kelly is familiar with a lack of readiness experienced by many regarding not just the emotional and spiritual, but also practical matters before death. This book offers biblical insight on The Eighth Day journey, and a mini-handbook on practical issues to help with final decisions and arrangements.Retired from pastoral ministry in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2014 The Reverend Alyce Spells Kelly remains involved in Church and society as conference speaker, preacher, teacher, writer, and prophetic voice. She is a dynamic speaker and writer with authenticity that allows her to walk with others in their sacred spaces. The Eighth Day is her second book. Her first book is The Golden Boom: A Message of Hope and Promise to The Baby Boomer Generation.
The encounter with God is a shocking and surprising event for most of us. We just weren''t expecting to sense the presence of God. But there it was, unnerving and unexpected, leaving us a bit bewildered as to what comes next. Some, perhaps the many, will simply shake it off and return to everyday life. But the few, realizing this was the ''real deal'', sense the need to look deeper, to chase after God as He moves on down the trail. This book provides the insights and wisdom of the many who have chased after God before you. They have left you clues along the way, if you know where and how to look. The trail is easy to spot, but sometimes difficult to trek. Nonetheless, for the brave hearts the reward makes every step worth the effort.Time to get going. God is already on the move...

Born blind and you’ve never seen the world when suddenly something happens making it vital to understand what seeing… is. Is there a way to do it?Dr. Marshall Sinclair, a university literature professor in Pittsburgh, finds himself thrust into the necessity and the impossibility. A brilliant, complex, educated, competent man, his comfortable concepts turn upside down. The Cavern of Deep Harmony, a phrase used by Victor Hugo describing a controversial aspect of blindness, is the story of the development of a deep and abiding love between Marshall and Eden, a widow met in extraordinary circumstances at an inn while on sabbatical to write a novel set in Colonial Williamsburg. Discouraged about writing his sighted main character, Eden joins him and their Williamsburg story about a young Englishman arriving in Virginia just before the war and falling in love with a blind woman, is told in the book as they write. The Cavern of Deep Harmony is an exploration of the world of the born blind, Marshall’s attempts to help Eden understand his concepts, of what it means to him to venture to invite a woman to share that world as his wife. Eden herself must deal with the fact that the man she loves will never see her, will never comprehend the world she lives in as she struggles to understand as much of his as possible. It is a story of courage, perseverance, tenderness, sacrifice, but above all, the power of selfless love.
Joseph is most widely known for his coat of many colors. Yet that is only the beginning of his story. He was kidnapped by his very own brothers and sold as a slave. His father thought he was dead. He was seduced, lied about, imprisoned wrongly and forgotten. With life like this, most would think that the dreams God gave them would never really happen. Even though he felt abandoned and betrayed, Joseph held on to those dreams, believing they would soon come true...and they did.Joseph: Beyond the Coat takes you on the journey of this Bible hero in a way that has seldom been described.  Joseph was a man of faith whose confidence in God was so strong that no circumstance could shake him off of that foundation. Learn how his faith in God brought him through every trial, every tribulation, and every heartache in a way that can only be described as miraculous.  You will see how the truths learned from his life can be applied to yours. Joseph''s hardships, and victories, were real. By learning what God was able to do through him, you also will be able to receive and enjoy true victory by faith in God!

Dear Reader, have you ever wonder if there is more to God''s word than what you have really been taught. Well let''s say that there is a great deal more, if you want to take a closer look into His word! This is an In-depth Bible study from the King James Bible along with the Hebrew and Greek Manuscripts, to help pull out the deeper truths written within God''s word. This has taken over seven years to complete. Everything written is documented to prove it is true! My hope is to drive you into God''s word and to show you what God really wants you to know. One of the main questions that I hear many people ask is, what does God want me to do? It is written, have you read it with understanding? This In-depth Bible Study will be taught chapter by chapter and verse by verse. How it all started in Genesis, chapter 1-6 in detail and actually how it will end, from the Book of Revelation, chapters 1-19, to guide you with understanding from His word as it was truly written. (2 Timothy: 2:15) My goal is to challenge you to prove me wrong, from the King James Bible, which will help you dig deeper into God''s word and without a doubt; your eyes will be open to a better understanding, from His word! Be aware, that there are a lot of untruths written in the other bibles, so just be careful. Make sure it can be documented. These three books used in this study is a must in helping you to understand the true Gospel (Kings James Companion Bible, Green''s, Interlinear Bible and Strong''s Concordance). God said in Third John: 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
