Eric Wowoh lived with his parents in Liberia, Africa, as a young child. His life was peaceful and stable until a brutal war broke out in 1989. When Eric was twelve he went with three friends on a two-day fishing trip. Upon his return he was captured by rebel fighters. They beat and tortured him, but he was miraculously saved. He left his country and became an international refugee in exile. As a teenager, he lived in eleven different refugee camps in twelve different nations in West Africa and was separated from his entire family for twenty years. In 2002, when Eric was about twenty-three, a friend gave him a computer. He learned how to use the computer and began training other refugees from all over the continent of Africa, eventually impacting the lives of many across the world. In 2006 he was given the opportunity to come to America through a refugee resettlement program. He arrived in the U.S. on August 29, 2006, with no luggage, no passport, no ID, no phone, no money, no e-mail address or Twitter or Facebook account, no home address, and no friends or acquaintances. By the grace of God and with the help of many, he established Change Agent Network, an international nonprofit organization that is contributing to the world in big ways and transforming Liberia through education.
Some people may believe that the Bible, a book that was written centuries ago, couldn''t apply to any of the situations people experience today in life. The scriptures may be seen as outdated, unrealistic and sometimes confusing, as to what is being said. However, these previous beliefs are proven wrong through author Rachel Jones'' new book, Practical Matters, which consists of a collection of stories with practical ways to handle life''s situations through the Bible''s guidance.Rachel sees the merit of the scriptures each time she reads the Bible and crafted her thirty life lessons to reflect biblical solutions to deal with common circumstances involving gossip, forgiveness and faith. Appropriate for Bible study groups or for individual study, the lessons begin first with a scripture verse that characterizes the main intent of the lesson; followed by real-life examples of situations where this lesson would be helpful to educate and enlighten readers on behavior pleasing to God. The topic situations are various in Practical Matters: "Abused Generosity" explores the notion of what to do when a person feels his/her generosity is being taken advantage of, especially from another Christian. "What is Acceptable Worship" delves into what one may consider the correct form of worship to God, and why scriptures may say otherwise. The end result Rachel is trying to reach through Practical Matters is to encourage readers to see that God''s Word can be viewed as practical solutions for several circumstances in life. She even makes it a point to create brief but informative life lesson stories so readers will be able to easily identify the lesson in each story, as well as scripture verses to remember and reflective questions to ponder. The Bible may be ancient by some standards, but with Practical Matters, those reading it will see its insight and advice is as relevant to today as anything else.

This is the story of an ordinary man who willingly laid aside his life in obedience to God. He was special only in that he was willing to be a servant of the Most High God.I have seen through my years of walking with God that the Scripture, "There is a time to all seasons..." (see Ecclesiastes 3) is a truth also for the "seasons" of our lives. Our family seasoned at Springs of Living Water - it remains our Bethel - the place where we each began our walk with God, not just toward Him.The season of the Springs as we knew it is past, perhaps because its purpose had been to make people more aware of their need for God. However, the benefits to the thousands who were ministered to in this place by the "Family" will probably never be recorded. I would guess that we have only begun to see the miracles God did in the lives that passed through this place. Only time will tell their stories.Using ordinary people like you and me, God can accomplish His purposes. We only need to be available vessels. He will cause us to become vessels of honor as He did my father, Cecil Cooper. My dad is now with his precious Lord Jesus, worshipping and praising Him with the saints who have gone on before us.May Jesus increase your faith and glorify His Name in this account written by my father of the things our heavenly Father did in this child of eternity.Diane Ball

Drug addiction is sweeping across our country - from small towns and communities to large cities. When my wife and I encountered the demon of drug addiction in the life of our adult daughter, we searched frantically for something that would help. The resources we found lacked the insight and help that we needed. Our prayer is that this little book will help many navigate the confusing, devastating, and violent world of substance abuse. We also pray that it will be a lighthouse of hope to many and help them realize that the person caught up in substance abuse can find help, hope, and healing.Communities who realize that the substance abuse issue is a community problem, and that all community members need to be a part of the solution, are on the way to victory in this social, cultural, medical, spiritual, economic, legal, and emotional war. The Field of Hope has become a rallying point in our little community in Southeastern Ohio. Our recent annual celebration and fundraiser saw nearly 300 people attend from churches, law enforcement, the court system, and political representatives from both the county and state, family members of those caught in addiction, businesses, and others who have a passion for healing in their community.Defeating substance abuse is a complicated battle. Ironically it all starts with a principle stated in Steps One and Two of the famous twelve step model used by AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous). "1. We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable. 2. We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity." That power is from our Creator God - He has granted healing in others'' lives, and God Can in yours or your loved ones'' life.
"Angels are appointed by the Holy Spirit to minister in accordance with the spiritual gifts that have been imparted to you.""There have been many times that the presence of God was so strong we could see His angels ministering in the midst of the congregation.""If you can find the Lord in prayer and clearly understand what His will is and then prophesy His will, the angels will see to it that His word is fulfilled.""The world needs to see the evidence that JESUS is alive and working through His Body, the Church.""There are angels that have different powers over disease and sickness, just as Gabriel has different powers than Michael, the Archangel."

Love is more easily experienced than defined. As a theological virtue, by which we love God above all things and our neighbours as ourselves for his sake, it seems remote until we encounter it enfleshed, so to say, in the life of another - in acts of kindness, generosity and self-sacrifice. Love's the one thing that can never hurt anyone, although it may cost dearly. The paradox of love is that it is supremely free yet attaches us with bonds stronger than death. It cannot be bought or sold; there is nothing it cannot face; love is life's greatest blessing. -Catherine Wybourne, Benedictine nun '''' "Rarely are there found opportunities where excellence is created in marrying the scholarly and psychological concentrations of love to the written, living Word of God and its application of love. Yet love is embraced from a theological and psychological way that captures not just one's intellect, but also the soul and emotions. -Pastor LaBryant Friend, M.Div. '''' Love is the essence of our truest self and existence. It is our nature to love and to receive love. Any time we act, behave or think outside of our authentic nature, there we find conflict and all acts of fleshly desires-adultery, fornication, indecency, obsession, sorcery, murdering, hostility/hate, strife, jealousy, anger (ill-temper), selfishness, divisions and dissensions, envy, drunkenness and addictions, which are unnatural to our true self. Compulsive behaviors, mental distresses and physical illnesses are directly rooted in the quality of love and relationships experienced with self and others. -Linda H. Streeter

It''s not how you react but how you act - on other peoples'' reactions. Women in the Bible showed the way. Sometimes they exchanged a death sentence for a life sentence, with little recognition.Pastors and especially lay people can bridge Hebrew and Greek word studies with Biblical stories of women who faced down their struggles. Here are 15 standouts.Roy K McCall is married with three daughters. Roy was elected elder at Geneva Presbyterian in Potomac, MD where he teaches an adult Bible study. He is the son and grandson of Presbyterian ministers; two were overseas missionaries. Roy is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and past CPA, CMA and CISA. Her life on the farm was perfect in every way: seeing her husband thriving as a farmer while spending her days taking care of the house and their young children. Yet author Elaine E. Wolters' life was about to change with her husband's decision to join the seminary. Their shared memories, with their children, comprise the autobiographical stories in her book A Peek into the Parsonage. Leaving their Idaho farm, Elaine and her family traveled to Illinois for her husband to attend Concordia Theological Seminary. Time was then focused on handling duties as a first-time pastor and raising a family while attending school. Elaine recalls fondly the memories of seeing her husband start church congregations, as they served in many parishes in several parts of Canada and the United States. A Peek into the Parsonage is a meaningful depiction of one family's ultimate journey into serving the God they love.
"Creative, humorous, intelligent, outside of the box thinker, able to place current events in light of eternal values..for the book." John E., Los Angeles, CA. "Thought provoking, exhilarating, and suspenseful. You won't be able to put the book down...The truth is scary, I remember being afraid after reading it at night, only to remember it was just a story!" Jessica D., Los Angeles, CA. This is a story of redemption, family values, and the eternal war being waged behind an invisible veil, one in which humanity is unaware. During the time, Oscar felt led to write The Dark Deception, some of the things written in the book have now taken place. Some others are beginning to take place. The lead character, Sean Killian, will learn valuable lessons about love, trust, and the power of redemption. Each character gives insight that we can learn from, and you will relate to them through the diversity of each of their stories. Sean Killian, along with his trusted friends, will embark on a thrilling journey of triumphs and tribulations as they are forced to deal with the troubles coming their way. Oscar Roca has served his family and community for almost three decades. Married to his beautiful wife for nearly 31 years, he is a husband, father, teacher, writer, and pastor whose love of writing was evident in his early teens. During his time serving in the children's and youth ministries at church, this love of writing was made more visible, and soon, he was given the platform to start writing skits and plays for these ministries. He was soon writing and coordinating play productions at church, which were viewed by large audiences of children, youth, and adults. Soon after, Roca felt led to write a novel that would point people to a higher calling in life, in the anticipation that we run the race and be aware of the spiritual warfare going on around each of us every day.
Although we have various cultures, everyone - unless there are extenuating medical problems - breathe the same air, grow hair, seek shelter, eat food, use the toilet, bleed when cut, have varied abilities to learn, and have a yearning to acknowledge a higher power. This book offers hope for individuals with family problems, abuse, feeling hopeless, addicted, and full of excuses. As humans, we have an inner often untapped instinct for survival, yet oftentimes individuals give up so easily being convinced that it''s all about them and their happiness without truly discovering that true happiness encapsulates purpose. Sometimes, for one reason or another - many do things they''re not proud of. Listen to your conscience...your heart...your soul and acknowledge that you are too finely/intricately made to the point that you did not just evolve from an ape; therefore, there has to be a higher power that we must one day answer to. Man was not able to formulate these earthly rules completely on their own; they had to have some divine intervention. Regardless, God loves you and forgives anyone that believes and asks. When reading these poems, read for clarity, understanding, and have an open heart and mind which God looks for and acknowledges. Yes, you are special!I THANK GOD for all the church mothers that He has allowed me to be affiliated with throughout my life. I thank one in particular - J.M.M. - who had it not been for her obedience, consecration, fasting, and prayer in the absence of my mother - I might not have been able to do this book. May God forever bless and keep her. G. J. Richards is a poet and a born again Christian. Most of these poems were written during the past ten years. Some of my college credentials are master degrees in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Teaching, and also a Doctor of Ministry Degree (D.Min). My dream is to help families. God wants families to come to Him and be healed
