Of one thing Ella Hurley is certain: There is no one she dislikes more than BJ Marek from back in the day...except maybe herself. The startup of World War ll brought squadrons of soldiers flooding the northern border town of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan in-order-to protect the Locks. With war came certain hardships. But adversity had already been known to the Hurley family long before the onset of widespread battle. To drown out reminders of the past, Ella Hurley focuses on her work as a nurse at War Memorial Hospital. But when a soldier arrives in town and falls under her care after sustaining injuries during the devastation of Pearl Harbor, the past gets dug up. And tangled up. While Ella finds herself crossing lines that weren't meant to be stepped over caregiver to patient. The patientwho is not really what he seems.
This life. This planet. Might as well be Mud Wrestling on San jab Hill.
My Bestest Wish Ever is a book about our Chihuahua puppy TidBit; our daughter Pauline who went to feed the goats and a pig who got out of his pen. TidBit was our puppy who followed our five girls around. If they were outside so was he and vice-versa. The 2 goats were a gift from Granny. They were used to being behind a fence and being fed inside of it. The next morning Pauline put some food in a pan and went to feed the goats, as she walked up to the fence they ran toward her, she dropped their food where she stood and they ran right through the fence. They scared her so bad she ran back to the house and never had anything else to do with them. After that we couldn't keep them at home and they developed a taste for Mrs Longs petunias. So back inside Granny's fence they went. The pig was a trial and error way of teaching the girls how to care for an animal. We were not so successful. The gate got left open, the pig got out, we humans couldn't catch him it took another animal to show us how that was done. And to seal the deal TidBit did everything but close the gate.

My dear readers, here is another slim book of semi-poems, stories and quasi-meditations. As usual, I have gathered the material from talking to New Yorkers who arrive in the City from all countries of the world. This is a work of fiction; I have edited the material and sometimes merged similar stories into one. New York is full of people with interesting backgrounds. The City is known as the melting pot, and also as the Big Apple. Sadly, some apples have worms in them. But apples are healthy fruits and you can choose the good parts and discard the rest. While I may not have done justice to the stories I was told, the people who told me about their backgrounds were really nice people. I am grateful to them.
"e;Three"e; challenges the canard that any value came of the turmoil of the 1970s in America. This is neutral news - not good, not bad. The flavor came mainly from the quests; of those there were plenty.

Kukamuga Junction was not officially the name of where I grew up. But that is what the people in the community called It. The people who lived there leased quarries from the forest service. All the people who lived there had to haul drinking water in fifty five gallon barrels. The wash water was gotten out of rain barrel caught off of roofs. Or out of rock quarries . My brothers and the other families boys had to gather wood every day so the mothers could cook make coffee or heat water for washing dishes etc. What the men did for a living was dig flag stone out of rock quarries with picks and shovels big bars and iron wedges. The forest service finally tore all the shacks down and mowed the roads into the Shanty shacks closed and ran all the people out of there. now they still dig flag stone but Stone companies are the only ones allowed, they use equipment and forklifs. When you read my book you will see that we lived a pretty harsh life but It was all we knew. My brothers both grew up and owned and operated there own construction companies. I ran kitchens with my husband who was a chef. I owned a thrift store I had a bed and breakfast for six years I was a C.N.A. for the last years of my employment. My baby sister. Worked in a hospital. So although we had adversity in our growing up years I hope this book inspires hope.

I began to write this book over twenty years ago. My purpose was to tell the true story about how IBM made too many companies successful by standing down rather than competing. As a Senior IBM Systems Engineer, I saw it all happen. The $ Trillion dollar PC marketplace is the biggest example of IBM's major losses. Yet, the PC was just one of many industry sub-segments over the years in which IBM failed miserably. We need more than ten fingers to count them all. This book tells all the great stories about how industries came into being and entrepreneurs often in their early twenties became billionaires. This book tells you which companies did the best; which regular guys became industry moguls; and who has the money today. Among other things, it tells us all who owes IBM the biggest thank you's. This book in many ways is about Big Blue's misgivings about being too successful in too many IT product areas. IBM Executives over the years from the CEO on down were all paid very well to manage all aspects of the company's business. Unfortunately each and every CEO after the Watsons and T. Vincent Learson, focused on just one aspect of IBM - its mainframe business. So the IBM Chieftains lost just about every other opportunity including the PC. They simply handed very crafty "e;entrepreneurs,"e; the whole game. IBM created many industry billionaires simply by not watching its assets. Microsoft alone has four documented billionaires on its list which is topped by Bill Gates, the richest man in the world at $102 billion. Additionally, there are over 12,000 other Microsoft employees on the millionaire's list. IBM paid for all of the zillionaires. In Chapter 1, I show each and every billionaire and a number of millionaires. I then go on in sixty-nine chapters to tell you the essence of the full Microsoft / IBM story along with many other stories of IBM squandering many other real business opportunities. These are enjoyable to read but hard to believe. You are going to love this book, designed by an IBM insider and told with respect for IBM and with the truth that all of these great stories deserve. You will not want to put this book down. Kelly not only gives the facts about the new billionaires; he also provides a history lesson about the entire industry that will capture your imagination. You'll learn how all these billionaires got their money. The book begins with the introduction of the first computer and it takes you on a ride through all of the major events that occurred during each IBM CEO's tenure. The story thus begins with Thomas Watson Sr, as CEO and continues chapter by chapter to the state of the computer industry today. Kelly does it all in 69 easy-to-read enjoyable chapters. Few books are must-read but Thank You IBM! will quickly be at the top of your list and America's most read list.
