"The Unicorn Fish are Having a Party" is a story about a family of fish who throw a party for their very unfriendly neighbors. Many of the fish in the neighborhood did not like the Unicorn Fish because of the horns growing out of their heads. The neighbors complained about one another and found something wrong with everyone they would see. One day, Kyle, the little Unicorn Fish, goes to his parents, crying. He tells them that they have always taught him to be kind to everyone, yet no one treats him with kindness. Wanting their son to be happy, Mamma and Papa Unicorn Fish come up with the idea to throw a party for all the neighbors. This way, they can all get to know each other and become friends. Excited, the neighborhood fish and other sea creatures help out to make the party a success. While at the party, they have such a great time they forget what they were so unhappy about. Old enemies become close friends, and soon the neighborhood becomes a great place to raise a family. As Mamma Unicorn Fish says, "Sometimes, someone has to make the first move to make a difference."
At the age of 16, in 1959, Dalton Henson, an athletic but emotionally disturbed youth living in a small central Florida town, suddenly becomes sexually attracted to prepubescent boys. This attraction gradually intensifi es until it nearly completely replaces the attraction he previously felt toward girls and women. As the years go by, he is extremely ashamed of being a sex pervert (as he thinks of himself ), and constantly strives to conceal the way he is from people he is associating with. This is complicated because he blushes easily and is inclined to do so anytime someone mentions anything pertaining to sex. Despite his sexual attraction, he conceives that sexually molesting a boy would be morally wrong, and he never does so or considers doing so. This book follows Dalton Henson through college, a year of teaching physical education and coaching athletics at a junior high school, a summer as a camp counselor, two years in the U.S. Armyincluding a year in Vietnamand the year after he is discharged from the Army, as he lives in a low-grade motel room in Tampa, writing a novel and interacting with a variety of motel staff and guests,
Utilizing the actual lyric that Mr. Nirenstein wrote for his own music of the same title, "e;When You Make Out Your List For Christmas"e; is an exquisite example of this author's precise, yet eloquent, literary style. As a children's picture book, the lyric and photographs work together effectively--and poetically--to capture the true meaning of Christmas. Published in conjunction with this children's literary gem is the author/composer/lyricist David Joel Nirenstein's original sheet music to "e;When You Make Out Your List For Christmas"e; [ASCAP], copyrighted in 1969.
This is an authentic Greek childrens cookbook. I have used my familys recipes and transformed them a bit so that a child can easily prepare them. The photographs in this book are of my boys and me preparing these delicious and quite-easy Greek dishes. There are twenty recipes and even a Greek nursery rhyme called Koulourakia at the end. Many children are taught this song in Greek, and the hand gestures include rolling the koulourakia into shapes
