Poly barked, "Look up! Look up quickly!"We all looked up and saw three Rainbow Dreaming Spirits floating above us. They floated down to us and one of them said, "My name is Winbee, and these are Seewai and Djabu. Would anyone like to come and meet the whales?"Poly said "Not me, I don't," and Bunjee said, "I don't want to fall into the ocean."I was watching the Rainbow Dreaming Spirits when one of them said, "We are magic spirits, and we can put you into a magic bubble. You will be safe in there."I asked, "Are you sure?"They said, "Yes, we are sure.""OK," I replied. "I will go and say hello to them."
Do you know what your neighbour gets up to after work hours? During work hours??"Happy Families" takes an unsettling glance behind the veneer of respectability that glazes society at every level.Drug money, sexual gratification, teenage standover extortion and blackmail, incest and people smuggling . . . when we abandon our Faith for easy profit, then our own front lawn becomes the Devil's playground. There is no morally superior postcode that accords any of us blissful exemption . . .
"Slow walk to the phone" is an expression used by older nurses as a sarcastic reaction to certain patients who are for full active resuscitation.Such gallows humor has not gone unnoticed in these short stories, spanning three decades. The book also features the joy of connection and the marvel at resilience. It starts at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane in 1979 and weaves its way until 2019 through other hospitals and homes in Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales. There are over thirty essays, remembering situations and characters in their homes and their conversations and the nurses who helped make it easier.Grieving for strangers and mothers, not coping at work and after work, and dealing with the tragic farce of restructure are just some of the issues nurses face every day. Some pieces are derived from the freefall writing technique, a concept refined by Canadian writer/teacher Barbara Turner-Vesselago in her book Writing Without a Parachute: The Art of Freefall. This is Mary's first book.
Elijah's mummy has a sick brain. She suffers from mental illness, which makes her feel very sad and scared sometimes even when she doesn't need to be. Mummy cries some days; other days, she says her brain is very loud. There are times when Elijah's mummy sleeps too much, which annoys him since he wants her to come out and play.Elijah knows, though, that Mummy's brain is sick, so he tries to understand the medication and hospital visits-although he gets scared that she'll have to stay in the hospital forever. Mummy encourages Elijah to talk about his feelings because feelings, whether good or bad, are important, healthy to express, and not as scary as they seem.Parenting can be a challenge in everyday life, but what if a parent has mental illness? How do we talk to our children about it and what it means for them in their lives? Mummy's Brain Is Sick provides a safe way to start the discussion with your child in an age-appropriate way, making it less daunting while engaging both parents and kids alike.
We all live life counting the years, noting the milestones. But is it the years in our life or the life in our years that matter? We all go to school to learn, to grow up. Is it about how smart we are or how we are smart? Society pulls the wool over our eyes because we allow it. Sometimes we do not ever realise. But do we want our life lived for us, fixed and determined by things outside ourselves? We may believe that we are really that helpless. Or not. And then something can happen to us that causes us to wake up, step out of the fog, seemingly to see clearly for the first time. What am I doing? Where am I? Who am I really? And what has this life been about that I thought I was living and now seems like something foreign to me?I perceive the world as if through new eyes, hear things previously silent, feel and sense anew. You are not alone on this journey, this waking up to yourself and all about you. Do not be afraid. This is your glorious adventure. And these poems are part of my adventure that I will share with you.
Evolution of a Poet is a collection of my writings from the past eighteen months. This is my personal journey.
King isn't sure what his name is, but in the end, it doesn't matter.
But Mummy I Am a Witch! is about a little girl who believes she is a witch-only to find out she is actually a princess. Although this is Nenia''s fourth book, it is her first children''s book. She hopes that in reading this book, you will see that God sees all of us much better than we see ourselves.
The island of New Guinea has a high diversity of species and a high level of endemism, containing more than 5 percent of earth''s biodiversity in just over one half of a percent of the land on the earth. New Guinea supports the largest area of mature tropical moist forest in the Asia/Pacific region. Papua New Guinea consists of the eastern part of the island of New Guinea, plus the islands of the Bismarck Archipelago, Buka, and Bougainville. There are between fifteen thousand and twenty thousand species of vascular plants in Papua New Guinea, with at least two thousand species of trees. The most important challenge for Papua New Guinea is the protection of biological diversity against the pressures resulting from global climate change, inappropriate destructive conversion of natural communities, unsustainable exploitation of forests, national economic development and societal demands, including a fair sharing of the nation''s wealth, and law and order issues. There are very few resources available to natural resource managers, environmental scientists, nongovernment agencies, and various extractive industries, most importantly, the timber industry that will assist in the identification of major tree species within Papua New Guinea. It is hoped that the publication of these three volumes will enable those who are responsible for natural resource management to improve their knowledge of the trees in these forests so that they can fully appreciate the richness of these biologically diverse forests. The forests of Papua New Guinea need to be managed sensitively and sustainably based on advanced evidence-based knowledge. The Trees of Papua New Guinea publication provides a comprehensive treatment of 668 species of trees (Volume 1: 257 species; Vol. 2: 246 species; Vol. 3: 165 species) that will assist in the identification of the trees of Papua New Guinea.

"The Light" is a sequel for my first work of art, "Pandora Undone". What I failed to write about in my first book has been written and placed in my second book. "The Light", talks more about my illnesses and all the challenges I''ve faced up until now. It speaks of my unconditional love and of my appreciation of the love of my life. It''s an autobiography which is beautifully written with hopes to inspire others.
This is a collection of stories relating to things not commonly talked about-the way we die, the way we live, the way we would like to live.It is about forces that make us do unexpected things, forces that make things happen around us, and forces we are not aware of.
Daisyhill Junior Cricket Club needs a coach for the U13's. Madeleine McConaughey, mother of Tyler, volunteers. What could possibly go wrong? As it turns out, quite a bit. There are some very pushy parents and annoying kids - and that's before encountering any of the opposition teams. Coaching a junior sports team is a delicate balancing act. Giving all the players a 'go' doesn't always sit easily with the desire to win the odd game. Petty jealousies dominate off the field, whilst on the field the team performs woefully. For the coach there is no way out.Madeleine has other juggling acts to perform, as she struggles with bringing up three boys of her own amidst the aftermath of divorce and the search for new love. But she is not alone. The other characters grapple with what it means to be a good parent and a good person in the wider context of school and community. The characters' lives become interconnected in entirely unexpected ways as the team's performance slowly improves. The season reaches its climax in a grand final that may be over before it has even begun.
This book of poems tells of the heartaches and shattered dreams of those who have learnt that the world in which they live in is very intolerant and remorseless, but as he descends in to the world of shadows, the God he loves is willing and able to always be there for comfort and direction. Here within the pages of The Beggar's Life, you will realize and come to understand the life and directions of people who have found life a hard road to walk. They have fallen, risen, and collapsed again; and now they are trying to come to grips with the life they have heard about, seldom seen, but now have found it is where they live.
