    The book Red Wings Through the Forest details my 40- year hike through the Missouri Ozarks as a Forester and subsequently every state west of Missouri as a Wildland Fire Fighter. The stories of me wading through creeks and stomping out fires were detailed in my monthly activity reports. I chose the most interesting stories over that period of time compiling this book. I let my boots do the talking and I take the reader along on this hike as we travel through the woods, fight fire, and meet some amazing folks along the way.

    You know how high school is supposed to be fun? Okay, so freshman year isn't really fun. That is the year the seniors haze you by selling tickets to the elevator, so you don't have to take the stairs. Or my personal favorite- access to the swimming pool on the roof that doesn't exist. It's really when you hit the junior and senior years the fun is supposed to begin. At least that is what I'd seen in all the movies. I believed it would be the same for me. After all, I was going to be with my best friend, Everleigh. We could face anything as long as we were together; even buying tickets to a pool that doesn't exist and a pass to take the elevator to get there. No one told me about curses and what would happen if I kissed my longtime crush. Such things didn't exist in the movies I watched. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's go back, back to when I believed anything was possible as long as I had Everleigh at my side. Back to when I was alive.

    Moms and kids disagree on a lot of issues. After one particular morning full of disagreements over just about everything, this book was written by a stressed-out mom and deals with the debates over bedtime, chores, bicycling rules, and movie choices. While trying to understand why so many rules exist, the child in the book realizes the rules are in place for his safety and health, and because he is loved.Parents everywhere can relate to disagreements over family rules. Hopefully, as parents read Mom and I Disagree with their children they can reassure their children that the rules of their home are made out of concern and love.

    Dr. Susan Highsmith is an enlightened renaissance grandmother! She is a seeker of truth and spiritual wisdom, a lover of science and knowledge, a caring mother and grandmother, and a qualitative researcher. The Renaissance of Birth is the culminating tapestry of her perspectives as she leads us through a deeply meaningful quest to understand how we bring in our children-how we conceive, carry and birth our babies-past-present-future. We are at a crossroads in our world view paradigm, our understanding of babies and what they need to thrive from the beginning of life, restoring balance between science and feminine wisdom, and how we all, as stewards of the next generation, can help make a difference. For parents-to-be and all of us, I recommend this book! Welcome to Bridgetown where gold flows like a river through the streets, into the pockets of the cunning and cruel. Nine great bridges span the river, and nine powerful individuals act as masters of the river, using the power and influence that comes with their title to their own ends. At least until yesterday. Today the master of the ninth bridge is dead, his son missing and presumed eaten, and now all that power and influence are there for the taking. There isnt a resident alive who wouldnt try and claim that power for himself, and when the Mayor announces a competition to discover who will be the new Master of the Ninth Bridge, they will prove willing to climb over their neighbours to take the prize. The competitors are driven, ambitious, and have years of connections, favours, and influence within the city to exploit to take the prize. Just imagine their faces if an upstart nobody from out of town was thrown into the mix. A Winters man, a family name almost as infamous as the town itself. As I recall, the last chap with such a name was burned alive in his own factory, but Im sure this one will do a little better. Well...Hes probably going to die. I give him

    A Brand New SongI will not pass this way againNor tarry here too longI'm going to another placeA place where I belong. A land where milk and honey flowAnd th' streets are paved with goldWhere there will be no pain or deathWhere I will not grow old. There I will meet my SaviorAnd those who've gone beforeWe'll worship God and sing His praiseChrist Jesus whom we adore. When I see the pearly gates openI will hear Him call to meI'll look beyond the Jordan's bankAnd His radiant face I'll see. I will not be down-heartedI will shout a brand new songI will be upon the golden shoreUpon the brand new morn. So please don't cry don't shed one tearI can't tarry here too longCause I'm going to another placeA place where I belong.

    ';Who knows Bob,' John said to the Colonel in a solemn tone. ';As far as I am aware, nobody has ever done what we are about to do. Think about it: we are going to put twelve strangers in a bunker one hundred feet underground, and then tell them that all we are going to do is observe their interactions while they perform basic tasks for two weeks. Then we are going to fake a cataclysmic event followed by a complete disconnect for an additional two weeks while we secretly monitor their meltdown from inside. After two weeks of subliminal messaging, and with our guy inside feeding fear into them, they will think World War Three has happened and they are the lone survivors trapped one hundred feet underground. How would you react, Bob?' John asked the Colonel.HOW WOULD YOU REACT?

    "e;The idea of Israel as a nation is an emotionally charged topic. The mere mention of its name can easily set off demonstrations, sometimes resulting in violence and even all-out war. But Why Israel? What is it about this tiniest of countries sitting in the midst of massive Middle Eastern nations that constantly seems to keep the world sitting on the edge of its seat? How did it get there, and for what purpose does it exist? These are age-old questions this book seeks to answer. It is not an attempt to solve any current political, religious, or social perplexities, nor a desire to advocate on behalf of Jews, Palestinians, or Christians living in the region. No, what you are about to read is simply an honest attempt to explain from the Bible how, and why, Israel appears continually in world affairs and conflicts."e; "e;Though never mentioned specifically in the Bible, the Star of David is recognized universally as the insignia for modern Judaism. Today it is a symbol of great pride among the Hebrew people, but during War World II Adolf Hitler forced Jews to wear it as a "e;badge of shame"e; designed to racially profile their identities. The First Zionist Congress in 1897 chose the star as the central emblem for the flag of the future State of Israel. Just 51 years later the new nation of Israel was born on May 14, 1948, thus establishing the first Jewish state in nearly 2,000 years. But where did Israel come from? And what is the significance of their reappearance on the world's political and religious stage? In his book WHY ISRAEL? author Keavin Hayden takes his readers on a spiritual journey through time, uncovering the history of this ancient people, and demonstrating how the existence of Israel will affect the future of everyone living on our planet."e;
