In the darkness, the battle we fight can be very detrimental, very costly. It isnt how long or how short the battle is, but how well equipped we are for fighting the enemy. The night is long, the battle sore, No time to stop and tally score. Keep fighting on, dont give up ground,For soon youll wear the victors crown. Our trust must be in Gods ability to see us through the darkest times, not in His desire to let us escape the night. When I Sit In Darkness is a beacon that will cast a light into your world, giving you strength for today and hope for tomorrow. From its pages, I trust that you can feel the Spirit of the Lord as the words sink deep into your soul, and bring assurance that you will survive your darkness.
Faith is messy. We are often disappointed, if not disillusioned, with God. Disappointment, divorce, sin, and suffering often dominate our Christian landscape. When these things come our way, our response is often to find our needs met outside of God, ministry, or the church. Consciously or not we say, "e;I tried; God failed. I'll meet my needs myself."e; This often leads us down a path of even more disappointment, broken relationships, unsatisfied ambitions, and heartfelt needs. Is God really enough for all we need? When God Is Not Enough brings to light God's sovereignty and love within the biblical narrative and through some of the characters of Scripture He has so lovingly chosen to reveal His glory. In viewing His story and theirs, we find meaning and purpose in our ownand this not just for ourselves but also for the life of the world. But this story would be incomplete without its fulfillment in Jesus Christ and what He has done. When God Is Not Enough takes a hard look at what it truly means to be not only a Christian but a disciple of Jesus Christ. With Christ as our life, we find it is in dying that we truly live, and so to live is really to truly die. This is the way Christ has made for us. If Jesus, in living this life to the fullest, lost His life on the cross, then it will surely cost us no less in attempting to do the same. When God Is Not Enough gives an honest look at what it takes to live a life for God and what is truly available through Him for our joy and for the life of the world.
The Parables are instructive stories that Jesus told while teaching His disciples and the crowds who came to hear Him. Memory can be fickle. Facts and details fade despite our efforts to keep them fresh, but when they are wrapped in an exciting story we can recall them with clarity. Consequently, Jesus taught using stories parables so that our memories would be invigorated and we would remember these lessons for years, if not for a lifetime. In A Matter of the Heart we will study eighteen parables Jesus taught. These are some of the most important, if not the most important lessons He wants us to understand and remember. We will study the parable of the Prodigal Son wherein we will come to know the meaning of sin, of repentance, forgiveness, and the grace of a loving father. In the parable of the Good Samaritan we will see that Gods desire for mercy trumps obligation and duty, and we will see through this man a model of Jesus, our Good Samaritan. We will study the Kingdom of Heaven parables for a picture of the kingdom that Jesus established, and come to understand what it means to be a citizen thereof. We will explore the parable of the Wedding Feast which reveals an awesome future event wrapped around a marriage that God the Father arranged for Jesus, His son. We will look at the wise and the foolish, the just and the unjust. We will get a glimpse of heaven itself through the lens of Jesus teachings. We will study His instruction about prayer, the dangers of ingratitude and a cold heart, the true measure of success, and the meaning of stewardship. Jesus taught using parables each and every one a blessing, each A Matter of the Heart.
And it shall be, that whoever will not come up of all the families of the earth to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even on them shall be no rain. Zachariah 14:17 (AKJV).There have been many spiritual and physical interpretations of this passage. Rain symbolizes the blessings for which we pray. Could it be that God is angry with Christians who fail to heed this injunction? Many Christians go to Church and read their Bibles, but often forget to avail themselves of the promises of Christian pilgrimage as contained in the above passage. More tragic is the fact that some fail to separate pilgrimage from tourism. The result is that they too are not blessed. In this book, we take you step-by-step in the spiritual journey to the Holy Land that never goes out of fashion. The holiness of Israel as the Promised Land is evident in the several spiritual sites you will encounter. You get a glimpse of the marvelous miracles of God. This book also helps the pilgrim to stay focused in order to be blessed. It is an inseparable guide to the pilgrim in need of additional ecclesiastic literature.
Abandoned. Rejected. Ridiculed. Humiliated. I was a glutton for punishment, it seems. Each time I was hurt, I moved right on to the next source of pain. Whether it was the consequence of someone elses actions or a byproduct of my own, pain seemed to find me even when I was not seeking it. With my focus on pain relief and nothing more, I made one wrong decision after the next until I changed my focus.

Much has been written and debated concerning the details of the creation account. In doing so, that which is of most importance has been missed. This is Gods Purpose for His Creation, which is seen in the way of His creation, His actions, and all He allowed to happen. Gods purpose and plan was not seen to begin with; consequently, a number of teachings resulted. These teachings have become tradition and are addressed herein by the following questions that reveal His purpose: What did God mean when He called His creation good and very good?Did God originally create Adam and Eve with immortal, physical bodies? Were all animals and mankind originally created to be vegetarians? Why did God cast Satan and his angels onto the earth and not elsewhere?Did eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evilwhich God called goodinclude both physical and spiritual death? What was the Tree of Life all about? Was an animal killed when God made clothes out of skin for Adam and Eve, and if so, was it the first animal to die? What all was cursed when Adam sinned? What were the penalties because of Adams sin?Understanding all of this sets the foundation for and enables us to see Gods purpose for his creation from the beginning in Genesis to the end in Revelation. This is God revealing the fullness of His nature and His loving mercy and grace, which was never before seen or experienced in His heavenly kingdom. This is specifically revealed through Jesus Christ.
What if Christianity is simple? When Jesus gave his first public address, he said, I have come to fulfill the law and the prophets and to set the captives free. When a contract is fulfilled, it is completed and is no longer in effect. Religion is a form of bondage that enslaves its adherents to a set of rules that constitute sin. It portrays the image of a God who acts as a judge. In one hand he has a legal pad and pen and in the other a club. When sufficient sins have been committed, the club is used on the sinner. Jesus died on the cross to fulfill the need for justice and came to earth to show that God is not the ogre with a club but a loving father with outstretched arms wanting to hug his children He sent to us the Holy Spirit so we might have the heart and mind of Christ and be empowered to live a life free from the bondage of sin and religion. This book shows the reader how to do that and points out the stumbling blocks that may interfere. It enables the reader to see the simplicity of Christianity and understand why it should surpass religion in our lives.
The Lord says in Isaiah 55:1 (NIV), Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters. As we come to Him and are nourished from His Word, we can strengthen our faith and find that sweet place of refuge in Him.
Out oth Bushes is about discipleship. Discipleship is about building (growing) relationships, with God and others. As we live our lives as disciples of Jesus, we are constantly involved in moving from being natural (like the world and the flesh) to being spiritual (more and more like Jesus). How do you teach the mind or attitude of Jesus? You do it one principle at a time, one story at a time, one shocking experience at a time.
After December 25, 2007, the Redenius family would never be the same again. Just days before, DeAnn had proclaimed to her husband the frustration she felt about the true meaning of Christmas, which was the birth of Christ. This message seemed to have diminished in importance everywhere she looked, whether it was in a store, an advertisement, or in the songs played on a radio station, Jesus seemed to be taken out of Christmas. DeAnn reminded herself what Christmas was really aboutwho Jesus really was and why He came to save mankind in the first place. As she made a promise that night to God that she would make sure everyone knew who Jesus was, DeAnn never thought that she would be called out to deliver His message so soon! It was the phone call they received the night of Christmas that would change the lives of the family forever. DeAnn was later instructed to give her testimony of Jesus Christ in a time of tragedy when her family learned what it truly meant to accept Christs unfailing love and salvation with an indescribable heart of what it truly means to forgive and love one another. Jesus called all to have that Heart like a Child. This is where DeAnns story begins and endswith the message of believing even when Gods ways cannot be seen or understood. In the midst their trials and sufferings, DeAnn and her family chose to look to God and take refuge, for there was hope for a new day.

There is a narrow path on the journey through life that leads to a secret place in God where our adversary cannot find usa place where we are so hidden in Jesus Christ that we are off the map and preserved from the daily struggles and vexations of the enemy of our souls. This Highway of Holiness is only found in abiding intimately with our Lord, and James Maloney has endeavored to highlight a few keys that provide a unique perspective on the present-day deliverance ministry of Jesus. Holy Heritage traces the journey of the Anglican faith from its first flowering on the ancient island of Brittania through its emigration in the sixteenth century to the New World and transplantation to a wild, neglected area of a strange land called Texas. There, in 1856, after a long, historic struggle for survival, this faith was firmly planted as the Parish Church of Saint Matthew in a tiny village called Dallas. The reader is invited to accompany that first parish through the struggles of the Civil War and the Reconstruction era, following its transformation into a cathedral church. Each tenure of its nineteen fascinating deans is detailed along with the parallel growth of the city each served, never forgetting the frontiersmen whose struggles made it all possible. Here, the reader will also learn why an Irishman called Alexander Charles Garrett is called the Apostle of Texas as well as which of the pioneer Dallas clerics was the first man to climb Mount McKinley, wrote a book in Japanese, was born in Scotland, and was killed in action during the Civil War and what happens next.

What are God's blessings? Are they spiritual in nature, or can they be material items? Should we desire or even ask for God's blessings? Is there a reason God would withdraw His blessings from us? Life happens to all of us. Oftentimes we are ill prepared to deal with the brute-force winds of trouble that can leave us wounded and maimed. Being hurt can gouge the very life out of our lives. It is a true saying that hurt people, hurt people. Humans are daily at risk of hurts being inflicted upon us by parental, sibling, marital, peer, coworker, or church relationships. One of the greatest threats to divine fulfillment and living a fulfilling life is unforgiveness. Its tentacles attach to every area of our lives, choking Gods potential, power, purpose, and promise right out of us. It is an untreated disease in our world and sad to say, so often in the church. Many are our afflictions, but God has promised to deliver us out of them all. He wants to heal our hurts and set us free from unforgiveness. I believe that the door of escape from the things that afflict and cripple our lives is being forgiven and giving forgiveness. If you or someone you know struggles with unforgiveness and bitterness, this book can help. It is a candid conversation, a practical perspective, a challenge for the heart, a refreshing for the soul, and much more.
Have you ever had a harrowing or nerve-wracking experience and then thought to yourself when it was all over, Whew! That was a close call! Sure you have! We all have. Close calls happen every day to people just like you and me. But think for a moment. Have you ever wondered why? Have you chosen to view these events as divine orchestrations over time, or have you simply dismissed them as random, isolated occurrences? Did you think to thank God when you were eventually spared or when a disaster threatening the safety or welfare of others was averted? I mean really thank God? Did you say with conviction in your heart, Thanks be to God! or merely blurt out with a sigh of relief, Thank God thats over!? Or were you so wrapped up in the excitement of the event that you never even considered Gods involvement? For many of us, the latter hits the nail on the head. We narrowly escape, breathe sighs of relief, consider ourselves lucky, and press on. Rarely, if ever, do we seem to view the close calls in our lives as divinely orchestrated, providential experiences with specific purposes and eternal implications. In this deeply personal and down to earth book, Mark Loring Wheeler, through a series of incredibly vivid and sometimes heart wrenching accounts of amazing close calls, makes a compelling case that the events in our lives are not just random occurrences, but rather divinely orchestrated experiences through which God reshapes and prepares us for a much greater purpose.
