  • - Vol VIII A Chronicle of the Imperial Mughals
    av Sanu Kainikara
    910,-

This is the eighth volume of the series on Indian history, From Indus to Independence: A Trek through Indian History and provides a narrative of the reign of the Imperial Mughals. The period analysed in this volume, 1526-1707, covers the rule of the first six Mughal emperors who have been traditionally referred to as the 'Great' or 'Imperial Mughals'. The Mughals invaded the sub-continent mainly because the first Mughal, Babur, a direct descendant of both Timur and Genghis Khan, was unable to craft a kingdom for himself in Central Asia after he had lost his patrimony in Fergana at a young age to his uncles. The first three emperors discussed in this book took the empire to its zenith of power, while the last two could be considered to have sown the seeds that led to its eventual weakening, degeneration and downfall. This book provides a detailed historical narrative of the events that transpired during the 181-years of Imperial Mughal rule. At the time of the death of Aurangzeb, the sixth Mughal, the empire encompassed almost the entire sub-continent, at least superficially. This chronicle also carries out an analysis of the successes and failures of the emperors, the role that religion played in establishing the Mughal Empire, as well as in its decline and decay. The book provides the reader with an in-depth understanding of the irrevocable and fundamental forces of history that combine to create, nourish and inevitably dismember empires.

  • - Pan-Islamism, Jihadi Groups and Crimes against Kurds in Iraq & Syria

    508,-

Turkey is committing crimes against humanity across a region spanning Asia, the Middle East and Africa. This book is the first to explain the machinations that the country's leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has put in motion in his rise to power from leading the Muslim Brotherhood's Istanbul branch to President. The atrocities being committed are ongoing and continue against a backdrop of global condemnations of the dismal security situation and violence that exists within areas controlled by Turkish forces. The book highlights the long-simmering conflict between Turkey and its Kurdish minority, which has spread further afield and resulted in the targeting of the Kurdistan Workers' Party in Iraq even as popular discontent grows against the Erdogan regime at home and abroad.Erdogan's murky political and military-strategic agenda is further exacerbated by Turkey's fomentation of ISIS and deployment of the terrorist group's militants. This book describes how Turkish intelligence operatives smuggled ISIS militias into Libya and Azerbaijan, who then carried out heinous war crimes with the intent to destabilize the region. Moreover, the desperate situation of Syrian refugees has been exploited by the Turkish administration, which has hijacked their plight in a cynical manoeuvre to exert political pressure on Europe while also routing refugees into Kurdish territory, dubbing it a "safe zone". The Muslim world does not know enough about Erdogan's dangerous authoritarian leadership and its grave consequences. This book aims to change that by revealing the continuity between Pan Islamism, Turkish Islamisation, and Erdogan's proxy militias, and how those interrelationships have led to war crimes against Kurdish people in Iraq and Syria.

As a group, the team spirit and bonhomie that they have, is enviable. For their comrades, they are prepared to risk their own lives, even when bullets are flying around. Most of these dedicated men consider their units/ Organisations as their first love, which is clearly discernible from their memoirs. Each of these men have umpteen stories to narrate about their life spent in uniform. This book is an attempt to present a bouquet of those tales, which make their lives so different, as they have the knack to see and do things differently and at times, in a most unpredictable manner. Some light-hearted articles have been sprinkled to make it a balanced an enjoyable reading. Life in the Armed Forces is a risky affair, therefore, why not live up life to its fullest. Some of these stories are told down the generations and form interesting tales to narrate to a captive audience in a bar or Unit get-togethers.
