Oh what a night, the last day of July 2019. A night I will always remember. I've been working here for the last two years serving the regulars and newcomers alike. Thought I'd seen everything I did, from impromptu strip shows to drunken brawls. Six for the Road is a collection of 6 sketches set in a pub which can be performed individually or as a whole.

Luci de Foix was nine when her parents were killed in a car accident. But was it an accident? Unbeknownst to Luci, a group known as The Order, under the protection of the Pope, has been watching her family for many years, waiting for the day that a diary written in the thirteenth century would be delivered to her family - a journal that contains a key to a lost codex - and they would do anything to get it. Early one morning, when Luci is twenty-nine, a bloodied young man delivers a book, claiming it's from her late grandparents. Plagued by panic attacks that have left her crippled, Luci struggles to overcome her fears, avenge the death of her family, and search for the lost codex. But who can she trust? Everyone seems intent on betraying her, even the gorgeous enigmatic Max, a man with secrets of his own.

I have achieved a high level of education, but what about the many girls who were denied this right? I lived in humble homes, whereas many are sleeping rough in all sorts of weather, including that caused by climate change. Iwas able to provide a decent life for my family, wondering how many of those, who were orphaned by war or injustice, never experienced being part of one. Whilst I travelled to many places, some can't reach the only hospital in the region, on time, by foot. As much as I tried, I couldn't wash away my pain and theirs as we were labelled or discriminated against. We were faced with unfairness and being undermined in the process.

  • - English Springer Spaniel Extraordinaire
    av Jo Merlyn & Meintjes
    223,-

Merlyn was an English Springer Spaniel who lived his life as he saw fit; independent and intrepid to the end in the 1980s - for nearly 16 years. As he can't read training manuals, no rules apply to him. His adventures for his size and locality were more intrepid than his mum and dad, Jo and Chris Meintjes, who were always wandering off to remote parts of the world. Merlyn crossed new frontiers - he always took centre stage: he visited airports, stayed in hotels, restaurants, and places that never before permitted entry to dogs. Life does not always treat him kindly: so please laugh and cry as he tells his story. Merlyn hopes this will inspire you to cope with your own life whether you read this as a bedtime story to your dog; or perhaps are unable to have pets.

If the Shadowshine Reincarnation Centre exists it is merely a staging post on the way to Higher Things. A celestial sorting house with about the same efficiency (or lack of it) as any earthly administrative concern. Like a spider in his web, deep within the Shadowshine Auditorium, the Soul Searcher awaits the souls which bide their time in stasis cells, awaiting his summons. Each soul is decharacterized of its former mortal identity and sent packing for another lifetime of trial and tribulation. Without ceasing, the Soul Searcher reviews the endless procession of souls with unerring accuracy. This time they are mortals from Twentieth Century Earth ...

  • - 115 Years of British Ski History
    av Arnie Wilson
    278,-

On 6 May 1903, twelve men sat down to dinner at the Café Royal in London and started a ski club. It would become the most famous in the world - the Ski Club of Great Britain. Exotic places like Val d'Isère and Courchevel had yet to be invented. Zermatt was a climbing village famous for the Matterhorn (conquered for the first time less than 40 years previously) but not for its skiing. In those days, to the British, skiing was little more than a slightly odd sport practised by English eccentrics. There were no ski lifts or resorts, but nevertheless the British pioneered Alpine skiing so that they could indulge their passion for a craze that was about to grip the world of Winter sports. Over the years, the Ski Club published an almanac, which became a document of fascinating, amusing and downright bizarre anecdotes of the Brits on the slopes as the sport went from being a minority diversion to the worldwide obsession it is today.
