The book is about the form in which rules are best presented to learners for effective retention and transfer to novel situations of problem solving in a mathematical context. In a study conducted for the purpose, mnemonic verbalizations (rules presented in a "shorthand" memory-facilitating form), as opposed to formal statements of rules were used with young learners for the retention and transfer of rules. The study concluded that the facilitative forms in which rules were presented to learners mattered but left open the specific factors at work that made one facilitative form more effective than the other.
Sinners have a future and saints have a past. Neither one of us are perfect. We just paint the perfect picture. We have all made the wrong type of decisions in life. We judge others. Stress over the things we cannot control. We compete with one another and more importantly, we try to correct others, overlooking our own imperfections.

When 15 families were forced from their homes in the 1960s, a void was left intheir lives and in the picturesque Columbia River Valley 12 miles south of Revelstoke, B.C. BC Hydro, a British Columbia government entity, forced residents to sell their homes in the 1960s. It constructed a 150-mile-long water reservoir forming a water reservoir to supply Grand Coulee Dam in Washington State, USA. It destroyed homes and farms with bulldozers, fire and water. It paid meager rates for property, most of which was cleared by the homesteaders'' backbreaking methods. BC Hydro then resold unflooded portions of property in Twelve Mile for 20 to 30 times the price it paid the homesteaders. The book reveals how helpless people become when a government agency wishes to force people from their homes and expropriate their lands. After surviving trying conditions in Europe and finding safe homes in a free country, the settlers felt helpless when their lands were expropriated and they were again uprooted and made to move on-but where would they go this time?Chronicled here are the lives of pioneers who carved out homes from a wilderness replete with wild animals, mosquitoes and heavy snowfall, between 1895 and 1969. Over 200 photos help describe conditions of the highway and cable ferry, farms, logging, utilities, housekeeping, play, health and medical, and final days. The farmers and loggers were fiercely protective of their one-room country school in the absence of any other unifying entity such as a store, church or post office.
This book covers many topics that are important to M. Holmes because these are the topics that influence the daily lives of the youth in our communities. The book is not in any particular order, but M. Holmes believes that everyone who reads this book will find something of interest that they will be passionate about. M. Holmes hopes that it will gain the interest of many individuals. The purpose of Deviance is to encourage people to take a stand and to do something to make this world a better place. M. Holmes suggests that we start in our communities. M. Holmes points out that once realized that the community is where crime is manifested, society can then begin to rebuild and heal. Three years ago, I decided to return to college to get a bachelor degree in criminal justice. I decided to take criminal justice because I was frustrated with the number of youths going to prison. The only way I knew to combat the problem was to learn about our criminal justice system and to create theories and solutions to stop the crimes and, most importantly, to stop the revolving doors to our prisons. At times, I became so angry and frustrated because of the crimes in our society. There are reasons for these crimes, and I believe that we are not doing enough to halt them. I have determined that the reasons for the crimes in our society are not unfounded. We need to take our heads out of the sand and address the issues. I believe that the issues are basically economics. Our society runs on economics. Just what is economics? The Oxford Dictionary defines economics as "the science concerned with the production and consumption or use of goods and services." In order to live a healthy and prosperous life, we must be economically fit. In society today, we have many families and individuals who are economically deprived, resulting in crime.
The Way of the Earth is a book with a female prophet who teaches the "gospel of the way of the earth" rather than Jesus' "gospel of the kingdom of heaven." Its message is one of ecological and spiritual wholeness in view of the true situation on Mother Earth today.
Consistent with his earlier 8 books of poetry, Felix Bongjoh in this ninth book, Spectrum of Zephyrs, takes up themes of mundane experiences spanning various aspects of life, including ordinary events of survival and coming to terms with society. Some individual poems showcase life in its various facets, including challenges which society and individual inclinations grapple with, choices typically made, and attitudes adopted in the face of a variety of circumstances. Balance is maintained throughout such that readers may identify with either hilarious or gloomy perspectives in accordance with their interpretations and understanding of life based on specific circumstances and factors at play.
Abandoned, abused, absolution . . . There is the family you are born into and the family you create. Unfortunately not every child is blessed with a family to love and guide them into adulthood. Instead, some are lucky to have ever made it out of childhood alive. The Creation of Stars is the prequel to the Falling Star trilogy, Catch a Falling Star, Blood Moon on the Rise and Solstice of the Heart. This is the childhood saga of survival of the main characters: Michael, Seraphine, Joe, Anni and DJ. Born into a Native American culture, Seraphine struggles to find her own identity in a world where she feels socially isolated. Her father's alcoholism and constantly moving to find work does nothing to help her situation. Even her sisters seem alienated and distant. In another part of California, Anni is being raised by a single mother who is barely making ends meet and longs to find a partner. One day Anni's world is turned upside down by a tragedy that forever changes the course of her life. On the other side of the country, Joe is a child with loving Catholic parents. The problem is his mother, who has already carved out his future and her only son wants no part of her plans. Unfortunately for Michael, sometimes the family you are born into is more like living in a mental institution. Fortunately he has an older sister Gina who loves him, even though she is incapable of giving the little boy what he needs. DJ seems to be born under all the right stars. Texas born, his parents are not only loving but are wealthy beyond imagination. How does someone with everything given to him almost lose it all? Just as the stars align in the night sky, the course of their lives cross paths. Each person illuminates that path . . . As the North star guides each of them home.

Ghana, a West African developing country, having attained a low middle-income status (November 2010), is currently embarking on a massive economic and physical infrastructure development with the discovery of oil. In this regard, the nation is witnessing a steady increase in the construction of high-rise buildings across the country, especially in the capital city of Accra and in most regional capitals. The fast-changing skyline provides enormous opportunities for young and active professional designers and builders to give expression to architecture in Ghana.Ghana attained independence in 1957 with a name change from Gold Coast, christened by the British colonial masters. From the precolonial era and independence up until the end of the twentieth century, most of the public and private buildings constructed in the country and particularly in cities were mainly two stories in massing. The twenty-first century has been inundated with new technologies and the manufacture of new materials for the construction industry, and this has led to an upsurge of the development of high-rise, multistory buildings. All building professionals and students undertaking design and construction of multistory buildings have tons of details to sift through. This book provides a cross section of contemporary case study on construction details, which can be employed in the development of multilevel, midrise projects. This case study project is on the administration block of the Jackson College of Education in Kumasi, which is a five-level, midrise, multistory building with a basement, designed and supervised by the Projekt David Foundation. This project was constructed from May 2012 through August 2014 by a local contractor, Ankomadu Construction Ltd., and was funded mainly with the internally generated funds (IGF) of the Jackson Educational Complex.
The three body-mind relationship goals that Jigoro Kano advised his judo students to aspire to; namely, to perfect themselves physically, intellectually and morally are all aimed at the same objective - self-improvement. The first goal is perhaps the easiest and the one that many judokas achieve by gaining a dan grade, after a few years' training, and perhaps by winning a few medals along the way. The next two goals are psychological in nature and usually take longer to attain. The intellectual goal is focused on educating oneself for what one wishes to become in life, whether it be an engineer, a teacher, an accountant or whatever one's desire. These goals, however, often require much book learning. Because 'time and tide wait for no man' one must read, read and read some more in order to expand one's vocabulary and acquire the necessary knowledge. The third goal is mainly focused on the moral lessons that one should have learnt after completion of the previous two. These teachings should prove useful in helping one to succeed in one's endeavors and enable one to impart proper moral guidance to others, especially the young when teaching judo.
One and many of the profession who know the law, art, and Science of God. Amen.
This book is a collection of verse written by a senior citizen. Most spring from the author's own experience. In general they try to convey a little humour rather than the doom and gloom of much of the poetry today. Some, however, are based on more tragic events like 9/11, Columbia and the recent Tsunami that ravaged South East Asia. In others the author tries to express his feelings after the passing of old friends.

In July 1998, GOD approached a man, to assist GOD and channel his will into the written word. This book is the result of that conversation. GOD is responsible for the flow, topics and discussions. The man simply wrote what GOD spoke and what thoughts he received. "GOD is speaking - Are you listening? My Story" is GOD'S full disclosure to his human family, including his laws of Life and Death. He speaks to Steve as a friend. That is, a friend of GOD'S, chosen by GOD. The fact that anyone would be allowed to hear his voice is astonishing. In this day and age of miracles, is it so far fetched not to believe? He speaks to Steve of his world...Heaven. He speaks of his Love for his human family. GOD tells it like he sees it. No soft touch, no political correctness, just the plain truth, GOD'S Truth.July 5th 1998 4:00 P.M.I AM the GOD of ALL. The reason for this writing is that the stories I AM about to unfold to you, through my friend Steve, are stories to teach, inspire and to create hope. Hope, in that when you greet me in my Heavenly Kingdom, you will have a better understanding, appreciation and moral imperatives, necessary to the alleviation of your guilt. I AM in the world as a spirit of Love, hope, divine inspiration and most of all understanding. I have tried to conquer you, and your fears, by sending messengers to your world, Moses, Abraham, Isaac and Jesus the Christ. I have been alive 50 million of your Earth years and the stories I AM about to tell you are just one of many, told countless times in my Kingdom.
