Becoming a Latter-day Saint reawakens love in a young widow's life: eternal love for the husband she learns is not lost forever-and love for the man who wants her to be his wife now. Kate Warden, a pilot, often goes to the skies to find peace and solutions to problems. But she finds neither in the heavens after her husband Steve is killed in a plane crash, leaving her with two small children. She struggles with bitterness toward God and toward the pilot who was at fault-until she learns her husband is not lost forever and that their marriage and family can be eternal. After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she makes it a goal to be sealed to Steve for eternity in the temple. Then she meets Dave, a widower with three children, and finds that love can come into her life again. He asks her to spend the rest of her life with him, and she could happily say yes, except for two problems: Dave's teen daughter and son don't want another woman in Dad's life, and Kate can't help worrying how Steve would feel about her sharing life with another man. The situation seems irresolvable, until a surprising experience in the skies teaches her that love is more encompassing than she knew.
Elder Bruce R. McConkie wrote, "There are approved and inspired writings that are not in the standard works. These writings also are true and should be used along with the scriptures themselves in learning and teaching the gospel." This classic collection of doctrinal essentials includes "The King Follett Discourse," "The Sermon in the Grove," "The Wentworth Letter," "The Father and the Son," "The Origin of Man," "The Lectures on Faith," "Man's Destiny," and "Invocation, or the Eternal Father and Mother."
First published in 1915, Jesus the Christ is the classic Latter-day Saint presentation of the life and ministry of the Savior. Elder Marion G. Romney said, "One who gets the understanding, the vision, and the spirit of the resurrected Lord through a careful study of the text Jesus the Christ by Elder James E. Talmage will find that he has greatly increased his moving faith in our glorified Redeemer." This special edition has been completely retypeset for added readability, and for the first time the chapter endnotes have been included with the footnotes for ready reference.
