This book is the result of decades-long academic research and 25 years of emergence in themyth of the American dream. In reality, a small minority of ultra-rich corporations have completecontrol over the government and mercilessly exploit the majority of Americans. The authordebunks the illusion of meritocracy, heavily promoted by ubiquitous propaganda. Through themainstream media, PR, and academia, the legend is sold to the American people and the worldas an equal opportunity for all. Packaged in glamorous fabricated stories, the myth is glorifiedby Hollywood and legitimized by multiple mainstream news channels that are owned by fivecompanies, which control the narrative. At the same time, higher education is designed toenslave graduates with enormous debts in order to keep them obedient. In the completeabsence of adequate opposition, these institutions create and maintain a plutocracy whilepurporting to represent freedom and democracy.

When, in 1978, an innocent, somewhat naive adolescent from the predominantly white and Jewish neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia, befriends an Italian, meth-mainlining, fatherless, petty criminal from South Philadelphia in the seething, gang-riddled Black and Hispanic cauldron that was Strawberry Mansion in 1978, a type of social science experiment ensues. Will the structured, family-centered appeal of the Jewish boy's grandparents' home and values provide the street urchin the stability he craves? Or will the allure of illicit adventure and the taste of forbidden love taint the adolescent's wholesomeness? This is the story that unravels in a novel where the bond of friendship is strained to the breaking point by the combination of thievery, illegal narcotics, sex, deceit and a gruesome homicide. Decades later, when this unlikely friendship has a chance to rekindle, when the boys have grown into young men, morphed and matured in what appears to be fundamental ways, what form will their reinvented relationship take? How will the bond reforge? And can the balm of the present heal the wounds of the past? These are the questions that are confronted and finally reconciled in the coming-of-age novel, Michale's Place.

This book documents the transition of a 20-year-old farm boy who had never been far from home to a world traveler who was comfortable in any situation in Latin America. It follows him through training in Puerto Rico, where he had difficulty leaning to speak Spanish. He learned enough Spanish to be sworn in as a Peace Corps Volunteer and an airline ticket to El Salvador. After a brief orientation in San Salvador, he was sent to Sonsonate where he was assigned to teach literacy to Indian small farmers. After a few months, he transferred to the Agriculture Extension Service where I teamed with a home economist named America and an agronomist named Vicente. They worked in many Indian villages teaching small farmers how to better farm and house wife better cooking and health practices. Occasionally, he was able to take vacations where he hitchhiked along the Pan American highway to visit all the Central American countries. This involved hitchhiking through the Guatemalan jungle to visit the pyramids in the Peten jungle. All the time his Spanish improved until towards the end of his tour, he was fluent in speaking Spanish.

A Dad's behavior communicates a lot to his son. In traditional families, a son looks up to his dad as a model for his behavior. When a dadcreates opportunities for free discussions with his son, the son grows up respecting and trusting him as his model. On the the other hand, when a dad becomes an authoritarian by laying down rules and regulations for his son without adequate and reasonable explanations or discussions, the son may resent it, feel alienated, and seek other avenues, albeit honorable or dishonorable for answers to his problems. "Sons and Dads: Who Will Reconcile Them?" is a fiction-Christian narrative that talks about two sons, their dads, the trials and tribulations they encountered, and finally how they got reconciled. The episodes contained in the book are relevant, if not similar, to what is happening in current times.

Far from being a poet of note or the wordsmith I wish to be, I've been flattered by others asking how I do it. Without the benefit of salient literary instruction, I'm urged to write as providential inspiration may move while caring immensely about the outcome. I have learned that writing poems is cathartic and a wonderful laxative for the mind. Thus, to that question I responded with the poem Take a Thought...Wholesome and Good to describe my way. That isn't to say all poets follow the same creative pattern and surely they don't - I boast only of myself.

The Winning Habits of Steve Jobs provides a glimpse into the successful attributes of this remarkable icon of the technology industry. Often characterized as one of the founders of the personal computer revolution, Steve Jobs displayed distinct habits and behaviors of entrepreneurship that were the foundations of his success. Of note, the vast majority of books that describe Jobs's success emphasizes what he did in terms of dates, events, start-ups, and product launches. Other books discuss lessons learned, but they rarely address the approach of how to apply these insights. This book is different. Rather than focusing on a chronology of biographical events, Winning Habits will delve into an exploration of the how behind Jobs's remarkable success. It provides the perspective that Steve designed his personal life to optimize many aspects of entrepreneurship by creating and sustaining habits that were aligned with his core values. These core habits supported his long-term goal of becoming the preeminent technology entrepreneur of his time.
