    - An Expressive Approach to Skill
    av Pablo Rojas
    693,-

Craftsmanship provides an insight into an inherently human dimension of work resulting from our immersion in an occupation or profession. The present book illustrates and defines the vital, social, aesthetic, and ethical dimensions involved in craftsmanship, which rejects a dissociation between handwork and wit, or between action and thought. This also contrasts with the neglect contemporary psychology has shown toward craftsmanship and its reduction to mere ¿human factors.¿ Drawing on artistry as an emblem, the present account conveys that skilful action can only be renewed in a cycle involving both the personal and the transgenerational. There is little doubt in psychological and anthropological literature that the current global crises cannot be separated from social predicaments; namely, from the commodification of craftsmanship. In this book, the development of skilful action attests to a fundamental involvement required to sustainably perpetuate human endeavours. The role of expressivity in reappropriating technical activity is key in showing the continuous revaluation of our ethics and aesthetics of work, practice, and creation. The overall arc of the volume shows a movement from responsivity to responsibility. In short, if we are to reformulate our relationship to work and craft, we need to see through our responsibility in technique. The particularities of craftsmanship described here aim to contribute to such reformulation.

This handbook discusses challenges and limitations in existing solutions, and presents state-of-the-art advances from both academia and industry, in big data analytics and digital forensics. The second chapter comprehensively reviews IoT security, privacy, and forensics literature, focusing on IoT and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The authors propose a deep learning-based approach to process cloud¿s log data and mitigate enumeration attacks in the third chapter. The fourth chapter proposes a robust fuzzy learning model to protect IT-based infrastructure against advanced persistent threat (APT) campaigns. Advanced and fair clustering approach for industrial data, which is capable of training with huge volume of data in a close to linear time is introduced in the fifth chapter, as well as offering an adaptive deep learning model to detect cyberattacks targeting cyber physical systems (CPS) covered in the sixth chapter. The authors evaluate the performance of unsupervised machine learning for detecting cyberattacks against industrial control systems (ICS) in chapter 7, and the next chapter presents a robust fuzzy Bayesian approach for ICS¿s cyber threat hunting. This handbook also evaluates the performance of supervised machine learning methods in identifying cyberattacks against CPS. The performance of a scalable clustering algorithm for CPS¿s cyber threat hunting and the usefulness of machine learning algorithms for MacOS malware detection are respectively evaluated. This handbook continues with evaluating the performance of various machine learning techniques to detect the Internet of Things malware. The authors demonstrate how MacOSX cyberattacks can be detected using state-of-the-art machine learning models. In order to identify credit card frauds, the fifteenth chapter introduces a hybrid model. In the sixteenth chapter, the editors propose a model that leverages natural language processing techniques for generating a mapping between APT-related reports and cyber kill chain. A deep learning-based approach to detect ransomware is introduced, as well as a proposed clustering approach to detect IoT malware in the last two chapters. This handbook primarily targets professionals and scientists working in Big Data, Digital Forensics, Machine Learning, Cyber Security Cyber Threat Analytics and Cyber Threat Hunting as a reference book. Advanced level-students and researchers studying and working in Computer systems, Computer networks and Artificial intelligence will also find this reference useful.

This book presents a collection of papers under the theme of multi-hazard early warning and disaster risks. These were selected from the presentations made at the International Symposium on Tsunami and Multi-Hazard Risks, Early Warning and Community Awareness in supporting implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. This conference aimed to recognize achievements and to highlight work that still needs to be carried out. The conference promoted collaboration among academia, research institutions and disaster management offices, and further encouraged multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral interactionThis International Symposium on Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Disaster Risk Reduction provided an important opportunity to reflect upon our progress to date in tackling disaster risk, but also to consider some of the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead of us.A particular focus of this event wasMulti-Hazard Early Warning. During the negotiations for the Sendai Framework, countries and partners highlighted the need to:1. Continue to invest in, develop, maintain and strengthen people-centred, end-to-end early warning systems;2. Promote the application of simple and low cost early warning equipment and facilities;3. Broaden the dissemination channels for early warning information to facilitate early action.Countries also called for the further development of and investment in effective, nationally compatible, regional multi-hazard early warning mechanisms. To address these needs, global Target (g) of the Sendai Framework was adopted, namely to ¿substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to the people by 2030¿. As illustrated by recent events in Indonesia, it is also vital to address the challenge of cascading hazards that pose a tsunami risk, and the importance of linking tsunami early warning to a multi-hazard environment. However, moving towards a multi-hazard environment is complex and poses many challenges but can bring significant benefits in terms of efficiencies and also in recognising the links between hazards, such as cascading threats. We very much hope that this book will provide an important platform to address these and other challenges in addressing disaster risk, as well as supporting implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction
