This book explores provenance, the study and documentation of how things come to be.  Traditionally defined as the origins, source, or ownership of an artifact, provenance today is not limited to historical domains.  It can be used to describe what did happen (retrospective provenance), what could happen (subjunctive provenance), or what will happen (prospective provenance). Provenance information is ubiquitous and abundant; for example, a wine label that details the winery, type of grape, and country of origin tells a provenance story that determines the value of the bottle.  This book presents select standards used in organizing provenance information and provides concrete examples on how to implement them.  Provenance transcends disciplines, and this book is intended for anyone who is interested in documenting workflows and recipes.  The goal is to empower readers to frame and answer provenance questions for their own work.  Provenance is increasingly important in computational workflows and e-sciences and addresses the need for a practical introduction to provenance documentation with simple-to-use multi-disciplinary examples and activities.  Case studies and examples address the creation of basic records using a variety of provenance metadata models, and the differences between PROV, ProvONE, and PREMIS are discussed.  Readers will gain an understanding of the uses of provenance metadata in different domains and sectors in order to make informed decisions on their use.  Documenting provenance can be a daunting challenge, and with clear examples and explanations, the task will be less intimidating to explore provenance needs.

The last two decades have seen a shift towards service-based value in a process referred to as servitization. Manufacturers have been challenged to create relevant knowledge and adapt to this change. This book has two key purposes. This book provides an interdisciplinary analysis of UK African Diaspora health seekers and their sustained health inequalities in the health market. It translates their often-silenced voices into a decolonial praxis, where their experiences illuminate the hidden factors that have blighted change in health outcomes for these communities. The book excavates and breaks down the nature of these hidden factors, as historical patterns of behaviour that comprise whiteness over the longue duree. Using the lenses of decolonial and critical race studies, the book places whiteness within an ethical and moral framework in order to examine the hidden factors behind health inequalities.  The book also looks at intersectionality and discusses whether it is actually fit for purpose as an analytical framework for discussing the health seeking behaviours of both Black men and Black women in relation to their unequal access to the health market.

This book is intended for designers with experience in traditional (clocked) circuit design, seeking information about asynchronous circuit design, in order to determine if it would be advantageous to adopt asynchronous methodologies in their next design project.  The author introduces a generic approach for implementing a deterministic completion detection scheme for asynchronous bundled data circuits that incorporates a data-dependent computational process, taking advantage of the average-case delay. The author validates the architecture using a barrel shifter, as shifting is the basic operation required by all the processors. This book argues that uncertainty is not really uncertainty at all but just demonstrates a lack of vision and willingness to think about the unthinkable - good and bad. The task of accepting that uncertainty is about exploring the possible, rather than the impossible has to be taken on board by strategists, policy developers, and political leaders, if we are to meet the challenges that an ever changing world is throwing at us.
