Shy and withdrawn, ten-year-old Aimee seems an ordinary, under-achieving girl until a series of events force her discovery of the extraordinary powers that abide within us all. When Aimee is suddenly orphaned on her tenth birthday, she is sent to live with her only living relative, Aunt Delilah, whom she barely knows. And that is where she meets Queenie - a sassy, outspoken waif of a girl who reveals herself solely to Aimee. Queenie both goads and consoles Aimee on her headlong flight from her Aunt Dee's, to a psychiatric ward, through dark and forbidding forests, chased along the way by unforeseen enemies and aided by unexpected allies on her journey of self-discovery.Set in the 1960's mid-south, Aimee's story is shared in strict third person closed, allowing the reader to see only what Aimee sees and know only what Aimee knows. As she gradually and painstakingly learns the true roots of her origin the voice of the story matures alongside Aimee, making Queenie's Song a smoldering, subtly nuanced psychological thriller that rewards with a bonfire ending. In a dramatic shift of style from his first novel, Those We Leave Behind, Winters invites discerning readers of all ages into the world of Aimee Dee Newman, as she is forced into a two-week metamorphosis from a frightened and confused little girl into a force of nature as powerful and universal as the world's oldest religion.

An alcoholic is always an alcoholic. When the alcoholic is no longer actively drinking, that person is an alcoholic in recovery. The harm that alcohol causes to one's life remains as emotional and physical scars. The alcoholic learns how to cope with it to mitigate these damages. Some are superficial scars that are more easily managed while deeper scars are not so obvious or easily managed. Those of us closest to the alcoholic may have been even more severely harmed than the alcoholic, even though we avoid using alcohol. We learn our own coping mechanism like the alcoholic, most notably the denial. We are also always in recovery.

This story is about a man who had his feelings bottled up for way too long. Not able to tell his family why he did the things he did and not able to recoup the lost years away from the people who he loved. In the Mexican-American community, you never show your sadness, your pain, or weakness. As an act of pride, you always keep all your emotions to yourself like as if nothing is wrong. Showing everyone that you're not suffering and everything is fine is strength.I couldn't do that anymore; it was tearing me up from within. I felt that by writing my story, I was finally explaining and apologizing at the same time to my family for leaving so long ago and why I tend to stick to myself in the present. Writing my story has been a form of therapy for me, if you will, a way to release all those negative feelings that have been inside my head for some time now.It feels like coming up out of the water and taking a big gulp of air after being under for so long, and I can breathe again now. My life has been harder than most but easier than a lot of people. I thank God for guiding me and protecting me through my journey. But I still wouldn't change any part of what happened back then because it wouldn't have brought me here. I have no regrets.

This story is my testimony of how, after suffering great personal losses-five family members in two and a half years, including the loss of my spouse of thirty-one years, which was the most devastating loss of all-I was resigned to end my life. My story takes the reader through the darkest moments in dealing with grief and quest for our purpose in life. I wanted to give a raw, honest account of my feelings so I held nothing back. My story will take you through my heartache, pain, and thoughts of suicide with many twists and turns. It also is a story of how God came to me through my grieving process a year and a half after my loss and saved me. Through my testimony, I hope to help others, who have suffered deep, emotional losses, understand that there can be meaning, purpose, and yes, even joy to life with a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Where did the story of the Easter Bunny come from? What does Easter, the Day on which Jesus was raised from the dead that Christians celebrate every year with great joy, have to do with a rabbit that brings joy to children?Did it ever occur to you that there might have been a family of rabbits in the Garden outside Jerusalem where Jesus was laid in the tomb on that sad, amazing day we call Good Friday? Well, if there were rabbits in that garden, maybe one of them saw the Risen Lord even before the faithful women went to the tomb and encountered the Angel telling the news of His Resurrection.Maybe she was a little bunny named Rebekah, who was curious about the strange rumbling she felt early, early that Sunday morning, and the beautiful light that came with the dawn, so out she hopped into the garden, all alone, while her brothers and sisters slept. And there she met the most wonderful person in the world - and somehow she knew Him and He knew her!!And then maybe that little bunny was able to say something without words to those women - and they included her in their story to the others. But then, over the centuries, the part about the rabbit and the first Easter day got forgotten mostly.Fantasy can be a wonderful way to connect with the truths taught by the Christian faith. Based on the Gospel of Matthew, "The Tale of Rebekah Rabbit" is for children and adults with a heart for what may have happened if, as old legends tell us, animals can talk among themselves and, like humans, can recognize the voice of their Maker!

There are few things more rewarding than sharing a book with someone. Sarah's Touch is one of those books that will be very rewarding to children when read together with an adult. Sarah's Touch is a true and touching story that teaches the value of quality by example. Sarah was working with children who had been moved frequently from home to home. These children had no trust in adults, no social skills, and no values.Sarah taught by the way she lived her life and interacted with the children. They learned competence, value in relationships, and trust in themselves and others. They learned and accepted the value of doing the best they could, not because of a class or a subject taught in school, but because they came to understand the meaning of value in their own life.
