Die Arbeit untersucht die Medien, die aus der Kongoreise (1925-1926) von Andre Gide und Marc Allegret hervorgegangen sind, hinsichtlich ihrer Modellierung von Alteritat bzw.Fremdheit. Es zeigt sich, dass die Werke aufgrund der ihnen inharenten Ambivalenz und Hybriditat permanent zwischen fiktionalem und dokumentarischem Habitus changieren.
