The stress is put on the debates of the position of intelligentsia in the society, as well as on tensions between great romantic ideas and realities of everyday life.

In this experimentally designed intervention study the effects of prison and moral competence training were assessed using as criterion the Moral Competence Test (MCT, formerly called MJT). Forschungs- und Diskussionsgegenstand der Beiträge dieses Bandes ist das Griechenlandbild, das in Kultur und Literatur verschiedener Nationen bestanden hat, seine Genese und Modifikation sowie sein Verhältnis zur Wirklichkeit. Ein Großteil einschlägiger literarischer Reflexe und Reflexionen fällt in die enge Epoche des Philhellenismus. Es ist aber nicht nur sinnvoll, sondern wissenschaftlich geboten, den Blick historisch auszuweiten: zurück zu den Anfängen europäischer Völkerspiegel in der Frühen Neuzeit und nach vorn bis in die Gegenwart. Denn nationale (Zerr-)Bilder und Stereotype wurzeln tief in der Geschichte und betreffen bis heute unser Denken. Die 30 Beiträge dieses Bandes von renommierten Forschern aus 14 Ländern bringen neue Erkenntnisse ans Licht und verleihen damit der Philhellenischen Forschung neue Impulse. The research objective and discussion topic of the essays in the present volume is the image of Greece in the cultural, artistic and literary traditions in different countries in Europe and abroad, and the ways it was formed and modified. The essays raise also the issue to what extent this image corresponds to Greek realities. The main part of philhellenic images was formed during the early 19 century and during the 1820s and 1830s Philhellenism grew up to a European movement of considerable import. However, it is not only desirable, but also scientifically necessary to broaden the scope of the analysis of the reception of Greece in Europe and abroad in order to include both previous and subsequent forms of philhellenic images. Therefore the aim of the present volume is to concentrate on early forms of Philhellenism, but also on contemporary receptions of Greece in Europe and other continents. Besides an accurate account of how Greece has been perceived in the last four centuries, the essays also point out stereotypes and misconceptions that often characterize the image of Greece abroad. The volume gathers 30 works of researchers and experts from 14 countries and gives a new impetus to the research of Philhellenism.

Starting with a definition of political modernity from the perspective of its greatest trial ¿ totalitarianism ¿ this study asks the question how community is conceptualized in the contemporary Western philosophical discourse and in the Russian Orthodox intellectual tradition. Contemporary philosophical and theological approaches in Russia develop alternative perspectives on community and on the human subject. This study analyzes them historically and philosophically and compares them with liberal, postmodern and communitarian philosophies of community in the West.

This book provides an analysis of binding phenomena in Bulgarian with a strong emphasis on pragmatic issues. In the ¿morphology after syntax¿ approach it is assumed that the morphosyntactic objects are spelled out in an increasing order of markedness: the most specific structural description is the first to be spelled out and the least specific one is the last. It is further investigated that the use of overlapping forms in the local domain results from discourse factors.

Starting from an interdisciplinary theoretical investigation of trauma, the book analyzes the relationship between Trauma Studies and literature. In particular, it focuses on Martin Amis's novel Time's Arrow, where the breakdown of chronology, coherence and predictability mimics the collapse of temporality and the crisis of truth caused by trauma in the individual's mind. Amis's novel reproduces the shocking force of trauma through a shocking narrative form in order to avoid indifference and favour an empathetic and ethically committed reaction on the part of readers. For these reasons, Time's Arrow represents a significant example of trauma fiction.

«Re-Engineering» Dual Training ¿ The Malaysian Experience shows how a new industrial country is successfully pursuing the aim to ensure the extremely swift increase of economic development by initiatives and concepts for the qualification of skilled workers. This publication reflects the analysis of best practice in training which centers around the workplace in lead countries as well as the philosophy, policies and procedures of the emerging Malaysian National Dual Training System. Excellence in high-tech work must be based on excellence in training. Training based on targeting specific competencies was seen as a way to achieve this excellence. However, this apparently logical approach, which seemed to make it the panacea for meeting today¿s pressing high-tech training needs, has failed to keep its promise. Yet, its undisputable contribution to the development of highly effective training has been to create awareness that the necessary accountability of training can only be secured through the definition of occupational standards. However, when they only reflect the immediate work which has to be carried out at the workplace, occupational standards seemingly fall short. The rapidly changing context of work also needs to be reflected, and therefore a new focus on the workprocess is needed to guide the necessary reorientation in training.
