This book presents both popular, trendy issues in Translation Studies as well as niche subjects. The chapters discuss the nature of the discipline, show developments and tendencies in the authors' countries, examine the process of translation from the perspective of translation practice and point at some neglected culture-specific elements.

Kommt der Widerruf der Aussetzung der Strafvollstreckung zur Bewährung in Frage, muss eine Prognose gestellt werden, ob mit neuen Straftaten des Verurteilten zu rechnen ist. Das Gericht muss den psychischen Zustand des Probanden beurteilen, wobei ein Sachverständigengutachten hilfreich sein könnte. Ist der Verurteilte damit nicht einverstanden, müsste die Begutachtung mit Zwang durchgeführt werden können, wofür das Gesetz aber keine Ermächtigungsgrundlagen vorsieht. Auch stehen dem Präventionszweck Freiheitsrechte des Verurteilten gegenüber. Unter Einbeziehung einer empirischen Studie präsentiert der Autor einen Lösungsvorschlag de lege ferenda, wonach eine zwangsweise Vorführung legitimierbar wäre. Eine zwangsweise Untersuchung dürfte dagegen auch weiterhin nicht zu rechtfertigen sein.

Die Studie untersucht den Zusammenhang von Sprachverwendung, sozialer Positionierung und kollektiver Identitätsbildung in Weißrussland hinsichtlich des Weißrussischen, Russischen und der weißrussisch-russisch gemischten Rede (Trasjanka). Die soziodemographische und ökonomische Struktur der drei »Kodes« wird mittels Umfrage und Interviews bei drei Generationen erfasst. Die Konstellation ist grundlegend diglossisch: Russisch herrscht im öffentlichen Raum, die Trasjanka viel stärker als bisher angenommen im privaten Bereich (besonders bei der älteren Generation). Weißrussisch ist völlig marginalisiert. Für die spezifisch weißrussisch-kollektive Identität, die durchaus festzustellen ist, spielt keiner der Kodes eine nennenswerte Rolle, bestenfalls das Weißrussische auf symbolisch-musealer Ebene.

Das Buch liefert eine profunde Untersuchung der Auseinandersetzung mit der NS-Herrschaft in der Publizistik 1945¿1949: Am Beispiel der zeitgenössischen Zeitschrift «Die Wandlung» und ihres Netzwerks zeichnet die Autorin detailliert den Umgang damals führender Intellektueller mit den Themen Aufarbeitung der NS-Verbrechen, Schuld und Widerstandsbewegungen nach und untersucht die Konzepte für einen demokratischen Neuanfang. Diese frühen kritischen Positionen, die auf einen klaren Bruch mit dem NS-Unrechtsstaat abzielten, wurden in der frühen Bundesrepublik weitestgehend zurückgedrängt und von der Zeitgeschichtsschreibung bis heute nicht hinreichend wahrgenommen. Die Studie liefert somit einen Beitrag zur Kritik am Narrativ einer geradlinigen ¿Erfolgsgeschichte" der Bundesrepublik.

El libro profundiza en la modalidad dinámica, tema poco tratado en la bibliografía tanto de corte sincrónico como diacrónico. Esta modalidad se relaciona con las nociones de capacidad y habilidad -propias de la posibilidad dinámica- y de deseo e intención -dentro de la necesidad dinámica-. El análisis diacrónico demuestra que hay que otorgar a la dinámica un lugar privilegiado en la compleja categoría semántica de la modalidad, ya que desde ella se evoluciona no solo a la deóntica y a la epistémica, sino también a los ámbitos del aspecto y del tiempo. La investigación llevada a cabo ofrece novedosas aportaciones sobre particularidades morfosintácticas, semánticas y pragmáticas de la modalidad en español.

It analyses Western characters transformed under East Asian influence, e.g. the impact of Eastern martial arts and religions on Western masculinities, East Asian motifs in utopian/dystopian fiction, and depictions of interracial romantic relationships.

Das typologische Spektrum der Denkformen von Alterität ist breit. Es erstreckt sich zwischen leerer Gleichheit und unzugänglicher Fremdheit. Eine besondere Zuspitzung erfährt das Thema in der Theologie im Gottesgedanken. Das Buch behandelt diesen Problemzusammenhang anhand von Fallstudien zu Schleiermacher und Luther. Bei der Interpretation geht es zugleich um die Frage nach Genese und Quellen von Alterität in übergreifenden Zusammenhängen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen hierbei die großen theologischen Gegensatzverhältnisse zwischen Gott und Sünde im Horizont, ebenso die vielfältigen Differenzkorrelationen von Selbst und Welt. Dies findet eine Zuspitzung in der Fokussierung von Entsprechungen zwischen Gottes-, Sozial- und Selbstverhältnissen: Theologie wird mit der Logik von Soziologie und Psychologie verknüpft.
