Just like the title suggests, this book discloses a great portion of my life. I use it teach what I have learned. Too many great experiences involving personal risks and dangers make me feel responsible for sharing this of my life with you. Every person''s life is unique and a copious amount of knowledge can be learned from every single one of us. Here, I let you know about the things I have been through since my childhood, including the places I have been, how my significant other''s decisions have shaped my life, how my own choices have impacted others; what I believe, what I wonder about, and a myriad of information that should be helpful to know and to share. Are you willing to share your life with me? Would you do your part in helping others somehow? Take your time and read this book. I might be perishing for the lack of attention to the details of my life and need your feedback desperately. In the other hand, you might learn something that is also imperative to you. What else will you find in this book? This is like an informative journal. Glance through the table of content and you will see how this matter is organized. Read this book carefully and I promise you that you will laugh and will feel compelled to give me your feedback. No, this is not a book of jokes to make you laugh. It is not intended to make you cry either. It is written with the intention to teach and to learn at the same time. I was selected for publication by Outskirts Press for a reason. They understood that I put a great deal of though and effort into the planning and presentation of this book. Give yourself and myself a favor and read this book. You have nothing to lose but much to gain. Thank you.

The story is narrated by Charla, whose wisdom comes through a lot of bad decisions and hard lessons.
Teaching Narcissus to Swim will surprise you with its clear, innocent voice and its artistic beauty. There''s nothing Greek about this book except the title reference. On the contrary, it is quintessentially American. Half Indian, half cowboy, protagonist Buck McKuen is a naïve runaway boy the morning he arrives in rough-and-tumble Ruidoso, New Mexico. He has witnessed his father''s untimely death, clashed with his brother and left his family''s ranch in the Osage Hills of Oklahoma to make his own way in a world of unexpected complexity. By summer''s end he has experienced love, loss and all the thrills which accompany one of the world''s most dangerous occupations-that of a jockey. Blessed with talent and high spirit, Buck finds himself in a world of temptation, prejudice and danger. Surrounded by men twice his age who care little if he survives or dies in a stampede of hooves and vices, Buck struggles to define himself as he experiences unrequited love, shame, comedy, tragedy and exhilarating glory. His lone ally in this fast-paced journey is Billy Powers, the charismatic, flamboyant narcissist whose friendship is both a blessing and a curse. Buck''s enemies include the vicious Wayne Carano, a skilled and ruthless jockey and Jack Harnes, a wealthy, bigoted Texan and the father of Buck''s first real girlfriend. These characters, along with others in the book, are portrayed with unflinching honesty by a masterful storyteller. Teaching Narcissus to Swim brings together scoundrels, heroes and horses in a background of intrigue and suspense. Initial reactions to the book range from wild acclaim from champion jockeys and sports commentators to complaints that it constitutes an unfair expose of a time honored sport. Veteran of a lifetime in horse racing, both as a participant and an executive, author Scott Wells puts you in the jockey''s saddle as no one else can. He also portrays, as if with firsthand knowledge, the lust, the greed and the recklessness which form an essential flaw of the male character so visible in many of today''s professional athletes. Like all good literature, Teaching Narcissus to Swim causes the reader to glimpse into the mirror of his or her own character. In this breakthrough novel, Wells portrays an archetypal American hero and his flawed mentor. Like Huck Finn and Billy the Kid on the loose together, they romp and ride through one unforgettable summer in the Land of Enchantment. This is a timeless work, performed with clarity and courage. Readers will savor it from the first page to the last.
Nancy Polito''s father, Armando Polito, was born November 1912 in Bovino, Italy; he came to America at the age of eight. Throughout his life, Armando was adamant that his family remember who you are and where we came from. He died February 2003.Unable to sleep one night in September 2007, Nancy turned on her computer. As she waited for the computer to boot up, her eyes were drawn to an old Panasonic tape recorder on the floor beneath her dresser. Covered with dust, the recorder was stacked with four cassette tapes, recordings of her father telling his childhood stories, the frightening trip to America, and his experiences growing up without formal English classes; his family had worked hard to assimilate into American culture. Sitting on the bed, she pressed play and began to write down the history of her family. Hearing her father''s voice was emotional; the tears flowed and she had to pause several times. After several late nights, she was able to completely capture her father''s life on paper. After two years of comprising her father''s story, Nancy realized how different her childhood was compared to her friends''. Her father''s strong will, determination, and ability to see the world through a lens of both comedy and tragedy was meant to be shared, as he had instilled upon her and her family.
It was sundown. Late fall, 1918. I was four years old. Ma was in the kitchen cooking supper and pop was down in the low ground pulling corn. I was always full of curiosity and I loved watching the chickens in the hen house. As I always did, I looked in the hen house and sitting on the roost pole was a buzzard. "Ma, ma, ma! It's a buzzard in the hen house." "Nonsense child, there is no buzzard in the hen house," she said. "Come look," I told her. "Well, if it is, that means good news is on the way and the only good news could be the war is over and the boys are coming home." She started to follow me down the small path to the hen house. Just then I saw Grandpa Nick running up the path calling ma. The path was so sandy he could barely make it and when he finally got to where ma was, he was out of breath. "Amen, amen, amen," he puffed. "The war is over! The war is over!" The events in Virginia Lee's life were unique and she believed that many of the things that happened to her were caused by unexplained phenomena. When you read her memoir, you'll see that she truly saw things differently than other people and you, too, will wonder if what happened to her was just coincidence...or was something else. Virginia's daughter is now telling the story of her mother's life. The result is The Highest Peak, which has been taken from the memoir Virginia Lee started on January 17, 1965 and finished in 1969.
When Roland Beaudreaux is found murdered in the small rustic community of Prairie, Louisiana, his daughter Ginny is the chief suspect. As the Beaudreaux family secrets of abuse, betrayal and lies are then slowly revealed, it becomes a wonder she didn't kill him earlier. Until the true identity of the murderer surfaces.
Prisoner of Belief by John Van Dixhorn is the tale of a man who fights for his soul against the crushing power of religious orthodoxy and evangelical zealotry to become a modern man in the modern world. Raised by rigid Calvinists, Van Dixhorn became an evangelical minister, a successful pastor with prosperous churches. But intellectual honesty and emotional longing led him to challenge his faith, his church, his family, his friends and his vocation...and to eventually leave the ministry and become a secular psychologist. To live this life and write this book takes courage. Prisoner of Belief, then, is a memoir of a courageous man. Through the numerous sharp and painful (and sometimes very funny) anecdotes we begin to realize what it means to confront all the significant figures and forces in one's life, from self to mom, to brother, church, faith, ideology, Jesus, and finally to God...and the world-view that holds all this together in one neat theological package. Van Dixhorn provides enough historical background so that otherwise obscure theology may be understood. As a psychologist, Van Dixhorn takes us deeper to see how doctrine affects emotional life, how belief affects our psyche, our sexuality, and our sense of self. As Van Dixhorn leads us through his life, we learn so much from this honest and courageous story. Geoffrey Sarkissian, Graduate of Fuller Seminary

MORE SPELLBINDING DOCU-FICTION FROM BARNEWALL: Financial Fraud, Global Elitists, Intrigue Unwittingly caught up in an international web of deceit and treachery, Meredith Morgan falls in love with and marries Russian scientist Alex Plotnikov, who was forced to clone prominent Americans in a plot to destroy the American economy. In this sequel to When the Swan's Neck Breaks, author Marilyn MacGruder Barnewall continues in Flight of the Black Swan the spellbinding saga of Meredith and Alex who, together with former covert Intelligence Operative William Leonard and retired CIA agent Jake McGregor, set about implementing an extremely dangerous counter-plot to thwart enemies, both foreign and domestic, hell-bent on bringing America to her financial knees. In what some readers call "docu-fiction," the economic terrorism currently suffered by the American populace is illuminated. Once again, Barnewall gently and skillfully weaves threads of belief, love, commitment, and patriotism throughout the dark webs of deceit. Flight of the Black Swan is not for readers who want to hide from truth. Those who want to know what's happening, why, and how to change things will not be able to put this book down. Ambassador Lee/Leo E. Wanta's "Foreword" sets the tone for this intriguing work of fiction. Millions of people follow the real life drama of Ambassador Wanta, America's most successful Intelligence Operative. He is credited with bringing down the Iron Curtain by skillfully manipulating the ruble into extinction while serving as President Ronald Reagan's favorite "junkyard dog." Flight of the Black Swan is an offering to the American People. It is intended as a flashlight to help identify truth in these confusing times. In his 2007 best-selling work of non-fiction, The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable, Nicholas Taleb defines Black Swans as unexpected or rare events and discusses ways they can be used to create financial havoc. Because my first book in this series was about a white swan, I decided - before hearing of Taleb's book - to use the words "Black Swan" in this title. God moves in strange ways and Taleb's book was published, and became a best-seller in the non-fiction category which, from my perspective, was a most interesting, "unexpected event." From the author: I hope when people read Flight of the Black Swan it will turn on a flashlight and help them look in all of the dark corners. That's where the evil dwells that has been busily destroying their nation. Shining a light on them will help free all people from the carefully crafted spiders' webs of deception. God bless the United States of America and the people who make her great. May your apathy fall by the wayside and may you be infected with a newfound virus that compels you to make sure people in positions of power live by the Constitution, stop treating citizens who employ them like corporate assets, and seek the truth. People have lived with lies for such a long time, flipping on a light switch will be difficult. Flight of the Black Swan is a story about fictional characters. Some know that looking glass images may appear to be exact duplicates of reality, but are distorted. Others have yet to observe that important lesson. Thanks go to the brave men and women in our intelligence services who fight the good fight on behalf of a nation that doesn't seem aware anyone has put on gloves and stepped into the ring. As for the men and women in those same intelligence services who think the fight is over and darkness has won, check the mirror again. The light has changed; a new shadow emerges...

The material written in this book began its life form in 2003. The origins of birth are hidden emotions and feelings. Some had been locked inside previously and others purposely hidden or simply unknown. While experiencing some of life''s challenges, the time came where these emotions had to be released so that chapters could be closed. In doing so, the author hopes to not only capture your attention, but to give you something that you too might be able to relate to. You will find poems of opinion, philosophy, change, strengths, weaknesses, love, laughter, joy and pain, while all of the poems come from within the author''s soul. Examine urban education from a perspective that is under-represented in national debates, namely incarcerated students. Throughout the United States, especially in the poor neighborhoods of large cities, too many public schools are failing to reach, teach, and engage thousands of struggling youths. Poor educational backgrounds, reluctance to be in the school environment, and socioeconomic pressures lead to failure in the school environment. As a result of these failures, thousands of school-age youths are sent down the path to the school-to-prison pipeline. In the book, the Philadelphia prison system provides the backdrop. This is just a hint of what sets Unlocking Potential: Organizing a School Inside a Prison apart from other books in the genre. It is about Pelzer's invaluable perspective on urban education as much, if not more than, about underscoring how education can and should play a prominent role in all institutions that are responsible for children. Heralded by the Midwest Book Review as "strongly recommended for those in charge of education of imprisoned youth" and "a guide" for those facing educational challenges, Unlocking Potential: Organizing a School Inside a Prison is a springboard for a deeper conversation about K-12 education. It creates an authentic connection that helps educators of all levels overcome daunting issues in urban education and affect positive change. Each chapter shares inspiring stories and insights that will help educators vigorously tackle the work required to improve schools. Author bio:Hilderbrand Pelzer III is an Award-Winning Educator. The Man Came And Took It AwayThe first true story of life inside the repossession field! One of the most electrifying and significant documents ever written about the repossession field, THE MAN CAME AND TOOK IT AWAY! is the authentic story of this controversial profession as seen through the eyes of the dynamic man who owned the worlds largest agency. Bill Bowser, who spent 46 years battling drug pushers, hard-core criminals, sexual deviates, police harassment, deadbeats and even the Mafia, now has disclosed with horrific clarity the dangerous, intriguing, challenging, baffling and outrageous situations which the repossessor meets in an average days work. He has repossessed everything from hearing aids on deceased persons, to airliners, and everything in between, including cars, trucks, tractors, pigs, dogs, boats, wooden legs, buildings, tombstones and stallions. Bowser, probably is the most dedicated man ever to enter this field, was determined to get every job done, regardless of personal danger. While performing what perhaps is the most hush-hush, but very necessary, task involved in the preservation of the financial structure of the U.S., death was his ever-present companion. Bowser has been pistol-whipped, shot at, run off the highway at high speeds and burned out, but never was topped, not even for a day. Told in dispassionate detail for the very first time, as only an insider can tell it, The Man Came And Took It Away! is a definitive, thoroughly documented portrait of the repossession business and this iron-willed man who refused to be defeated, who scorned taboos and molded the harum-scarum operations of his predecessors into a respected profession. Like the never-before-envisioned empire which he created, Bill Bowser-seasoned knowledgeable repo man was the epitome in his field! Bowser''s repossession bureau handled accounts for banks and finance companies across the entire nation. The flamboyant equipment used was the most ingenious and efficient ever devised. He cut up new Cadillac automobiles and made tow trucks out of them, bringing publicity that could not have been brought for thousands of dollars. This innovative creation promoted business, but spawned a problem: everyone knew what to expect when the Cadillac trucks pulled up in front of their house. He maintained fleets of vehicles on city streets and highways 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and when any man got into trouble, trucks flew in from every direction. Completely submerged in applying the arts and sciences of the repossession profession, many of which were his own skillful improvisations, Bowser observed an 18-hour-a-day schedule. Only upon retirement was he able to relate the fascinating true sores and strange experiences of his meteoric career objectively and with a frank, startling integrity. Buy the book "The Man Came and Took it Away" and explore in depth how Bill Bowser was able to accomplish all these things, and be able to live to tell about it. You''ll laugh, you''ll cry, you''ll gasp! All in all, you will be truely inspired!
Alexander Gunn is not afraid to speak out against the greed, corruption and political correctness that threatens the existence of America. Mr. Gunn is not afraid of denouncing the corporate domination of our economy and government. Here is a wake up call for the middle class (what''s left of it) and working class, who are subjected to a pro-corporate media and government that rarely or never have their interests at heart. Globalization, raw capitalism and trade schemes like NAFTA, have spelled disaster for the great majority of Americans. As Wall Street and the elite snivel for more bailouts, bonuses, free trade fraud and tax breaks, the American worker is being slowly crushed by stagnant wages, offshoring, underemployment, excessive immigration and debt. American Dissident, Save Our Society examines the realities facing the American worker today and it pulls no punches. This powerful book should be read by anyone who cares about the future of the United States.
