Truth Is Something That HappenedIn August 1994 while on vacation in London, England, the author has a supernatural encounter with the The Lord Jesus Christ, at one of the most unlikely times---while traveling on a double decker bus. On this bus, with her cousin Lyneth, she meets up with a prophetess. This meeting becomes the catalyst that begins her new walk with God."We got on an almost empty bus and took our seats up front, close to a woman she apparently knew. Lyneth without hesitation, proudly introduced me to this person. The moment the woman turned and looked at me, her eyes popped wide open, and a terrified look swept across her face. Her countenance became like that of a person faced with a very gruesome picture. Then, her eyes quickly closed, her body became limp and lifeless, as she fell sideways in her seat. It was as if the hand of death had mysteriously reached out from some silent abode and seized her."Many more powerful spiritual encounters would follow as her life evolves into a new dimension, with Christ as her Savior. The other side of this new life, ironically includes an ill-fated marriage to someone that proves to be deceptive, and has his own hidden agenda. From this union a promised child is born: a true gem, rising out of the midst of chaos. This child would be molested by her own father. She then boldly speaks out about this to her mother and then to the authorities. "Daddy did something and told me not to tell."Like a champion, this seven year old stands her ground and continues to tell her compelling story. This child would later come to brilliantly define truth as: Truth Is Something That HappenedIn this book the writer not only addresses her triumphs, when she walks according to the directive of the Holy Spirit, but the failures she experiences when she tries to lean on her own understanding, and not prayerfully seek the Lord for answers. It is evident that as a new believer, she definitely does not seek the Lord when she flies to Jamaica, her native country, marries someone who is suppose to be Spirit-filled and talking in tongues. After his arrival in the U.S. the real person is unveiled. So many catastrophes be avoided, if we learn to listen and wait for that still, small, voice deep within us. This book promises a great reading experience, that will be forever etched on the walls of your memory.
SUCCEEDING AT ANY PRICE, EVEN WHEN IGNORING WHAT IT TAKES OR COSTS. A young and overly ambitious college graduate is dead set on forging ahead in the business world at any price even if he cannot yet grasp the costs, nor the consequences of his choices. No task is too mean or too vicious, and no matter how morally dodgy, no situation causes our hero to pause and rethink his actions as he only views before him a set of opportunities to climb further and further. This saga takes place in the mid 80s of the last century within the dark labyrinths of a multi-billion conglomerate 'Inter Finance', whose tentacles spread around the globe and reach into the highest spheres of corporate power and of government circles. The quest takes our un-prepared but determined hero from one dangerous situation to the next - swirling between shady dealers and former mercenaries and landing him into the arms of gentle beauties, while hopping from jungles to high-rises in a race against the clock and against himself. A street culture mixed with a sophisticated sense of 'savoir-dire' at any occasion, transports the reader from seriously dark moments peppered with light doses of Lower East Side humor, into unexpectedly deep thoughts but without falling into the grim traps of a serie noire genre or rushing for the chocolate box. Greed, machinations, betrayals and genuine love are scattered along the alleys of this fast and invigorating journey.
In this book, Strategies to Grow Non-Profits, the author skillfully puts forth proven strategies to assist non-profit leaders address identified challenges - such as leading change, strategic planning, succession planning, retaining and attracting high quality talent, fundraising -- that often play a negative role in the growth and success of their organization. The non-profit industry is undergoing a transformation in terms of grantmakers requiring more accountability. Certainly, we can all understand the underlying implications of challenges that prevent us from achieving goals. To that end, this book is a MUST HAVE for those who manage people and lead organizations as it provides a "Chow to" approach to direct change and create an environment of continuous improvement.Teresa Johnson is an Executive Director of a non-profit organization in Florida. The author previously worked in a senior management position for over 12 years with a non-profit. A teacher's manual that reads like a memoir. This is how Mr. Jones describes his new book "The Caring Teacher: Using compassion to connect with kids." After teaching children with special needs for nearly 30 years, Mr. Jones has concluded that the single greatest quality a successful and effective teacher needs is "CARE!" Students will simply not give you their best efforts if they believe their teacher does not GENUINELY CARE about them. This may be one of the most comprehensive books ever written for teachers about how to incorporate CARE in classrooms. Mr. Jones has thoroughly examined virtually every aspect of CARE relative to education. In Parts I and II, Mr. Jones discusses 26 relevant and critical topics all teachers confront every day in the classroom. The reader will have over 30 handouts that Mr. Jones has created over his 30 year career for all teachers to start using so that CARE is being immersed in their classroom. In Part I, Mr. Jones looks at such issues as HOMEWORK, REWARDS, GRADING, DISCIPLINE and STATE EXAMS. In Part II, he examines TEACHING KIDS TO CARE, BEING EVALUATED (BY YOUR STUDENTS), MAINSTREAMING, INCLUSION, how PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT should be utilized, the importance of PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT, why PARENT CONFERENCES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT and finally, a test teachers can take to see if they are a "PROFESSIONAL TEACHER." In Part III, Mr. Jones explores the "Ten Qualities" of a "Caring Teacher." Examples include "TREATING STUDENTS 'FAIR' NOT THE SAME (WHEN IT COMES TO DISCIPLINE), the importance of CONSISTENCY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, BEING KIND TO EVERYONE (NOT JUST TO YOUR STUDENTS), having HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR THEMSELVES (AS WELL AS THEIR STUDENTS) and realizing that CARE AND COMPASSION ARE THE TWO GREATEST QUALITIES NECESSARY TO CONNECT WITH KIDS. The "Caring Teacher" concludes with an Appendix containing seven important addendums including Mr. Jones' "30 Acts of Kindness," a test and scoring rubric to determine if you are a "Caring Teacher" as well as a test and a scoring rubric to see if your students CARE (about their education). Next, is a list of ten movies about "Caring Teachers." This is followed by the "Six Great Books" that show students of all ages the power and importance of compassion. The sixth supplement is the "Four Great Speeches" which Mr. Jones has his students memorize throughout the year to assess if his students CARE (about their education). It is so fitting and appropriate that the seventh and final document is an actual student's assignment which clearly "proves" that teachers do make a difference, although they may not know it at the time. What makes the "Caring Teacher" so enjoyable to read is how Mr. Jones weaves personal stories from both his students and his own life. Additionally, Mr. Jones references historical fictional characters including Jean Valjean ( Les Miserables) and Atticus Finch (To Kill A Mockingbird), as well as current political figures such as Donald Rumsfeld (former Secretary of Defense) and four former Presidents. Other "newsmakers" include Ron Clark (Teacher of the Year, 2000) Anderson Cooper of CNN and even Late Night Comedian, Jimmy Kimmel.

Many of God's children are living lives that are far below God's great plan for them. They are discouraged, depressed, downtrodden, and defeated by the problems and challenges of this world. And many of these troubles are spiritual and come as a result of prayerlessness. But the great news of our marvelous redemption is that our problems can be solved. Every need can be met. We need not be defeated all through life. Because of what Christ has done for us, the victory has been won and we have been given authority over all the power of the enemy. And our primary weapon is prayer. Hebrews 13:7 enjoins us to remember those who speak God's message to us, to know how they live and to imitate their faith. Pastor Wole Oladiyun is a man of prayer: His life and ministry are the glowing testimonies. For him, prayer is our greatest privilege and the most powerful weapon in the universe - engaging all of heaven for earthly impact.Breakthrough Prayers is a work-through manual of confront-and-conquer, intense, fervent, knowledgeable, warfare and Wordfare prayers for everyone who needs to break through into all that God has for them. For all who really know the Saviour, they will find this book an intimate and helpful companion, using His name and authority in prayer to appropriate all their blessings in God.
Bang, bang, bang, bang. A woman's screams. Silence."Mama? Mama?" I had called out piteously, pressing myself against the closet door. All I could hear was the sound of heavy footsteps. First echoing in distance, then coming down the corridor, taking a wrong turn and getting further away. Crashes and shattering glass, stomping feet becoming louder again, the sound of opening and slamming doors, the door of the room where I was pushed open, furniture broken, fabric swooshed aside, the feet advancing nearer, CRASH! I let out a startled whimper, only to quickly recover my senses and abruptly silence myself. There was a long pause. Then, the closet door suddenly flew open and I found myself staring up at the towering silhouette of a man. I pressed myself against the back of the closet, and he pressed a hard cold object firmly onto my forehead. A gun. The realization sent a chill through my body, but I could not move, I could only stare dumbly up at him, wide eyed and silent. "Wait." A silken voiced drifted in from behind him."What is it?" He asked warily without turning around or taking his gunpoint off of me."Let's not kill her," it purred, "We should just forget about what the boss said. We should take her with us instead and hold her for ransom.""Are you crazy?" The man asked, his voice rising in disbelief. "The boss will not let this go; especially considering how much he is getting from that woman to have her assassinated".Woman. "So what?" The voice challenged."What do you mean by 'so what'?! This is an important assignment!""Assign...ment?""Yes you moron", his words coated with exasperation, "We are suppose kill her, while making it seem like a burglary."Wanted. Me. Dead. Was mama dead? "We could set this whole place on fire," it suggested, "Claimed to have killed her," the voice dropped into an alluring whisper, "Secretly demand a ransom, and run for it with enough of a fortune to make us kings!" It finished triumphantly. "Well...""After all," it continued seductively, "The boss might get a lot from this job, but it's not like he would be willing to share any of that wealth with us. Even though, WE are the ones who do the work..."A long silence followed. No, no. Mama could not be dead. I had been a good girl, see? Mama must come back because I kept my promise, and was a good child...so why? "Alright", the man growled finally, "Alright". He reached for me with his free hand, I shrank back. Why?And then, BANG!The man toppled over. There was a padded thump as his head struck the back of the closet. The body slid slowly down, the head making a streak of red on the wooden back like a skilled painter putting a crimson stroke on a dark brown canvas. His body slid until his head came to rest on the hollow of my neck. I sat, unmoving. Lukewarm blood soaked the front of my garment.WHY?A tinkling laugh. I looked past the corpse at the one who shot his partner. The man with the silken voice pulled the body off of me and threw it aside with a flourish. "Are you alright, my lady?" He asked sweetly. I shivered involuntarily. He leaned forward, flashing his dainty teeth at me in the dim light. "Now, now, there's nothing to fear," murmured that voice demurely. "Who are you?" I whispered.Another flash of teeth. " I am currently working for your honored grandfather.""Why?""Why what my lady?""Why didn't you save my mama?""Why," he said stretching out the word, "Because I was ordered to protect the heir at all cost." He laughed, "You are the heir, and your mother, the cost." Why didn't you come back? Even though, I waited.
