"Against The Tide" is a collection of poetry that comes from a heart that has been broken and restored. It is about this poet's journey; one of faith, love, pain, grief, sorrow and even a little humor. It is about life and how good it can be even when you are swimming against the tide. Throughout the years this author has had several poems published; as well as, had her E-book "Beyond the Past" published in 2012. Several of her individual works of poetry have been recognized. She has received the "Editor's Choice Award", by The National Library of Poetry and two awards of "Merit" by The World of Poetry.

This book provides a basis of understanding which will:1) Give the reader cognitive tools for evaluating various Scripture and religious precepts. This text does not question the sovereignty of Creator God, but it does:a) Raise the specter of God impostors.b) Describe our Creator¿s limitations within a moral framework. c) Explain why it is our moral obligation to both judge God and seek God.d) Explain why we are morally obligated to evaluate Scripture.2) Enable the participants of individual religions to see the positive traits of other religions and the negative traits of their own. (Presumably they already see the positive traits of their own and negative traits of others.) 3) Improve one's understanding of, and therefore relationship with, God. This book provides a foundation for organizing one¿s thinking in a way that clearly transcends popular thought patterns. Reading TimeChapter summaries are provided to facilitate effective speed reading of the text without risking omission of critical concepts.

On May 19, 2012, I stood in the 5800 wing of Loma Linda Children's Hospital and watched our seventeen year old son Loukas breath his last earthly breath. His sudden home-going from cardiac arrest and the resulting confusion of soul and mind with the purposes of God's plan has compelled me to write this book. For years I have sought to discover a Biblical theology of suffering so that I might comfort and counsel God's people under my pastoral care. On the day my son died, that Biblical theology changed from theory to reality. It is my hope and prayer as you read these pages that you will take comfort in the eternal truth that for believers in Jesus Christ, there is no senseless suffering that they will ever experience during their journey to glory. No, in fact, there are eternal purposes that God intends to accomplish through the suffering we experience and the evil we endure.

Warning: Dweebville is really weird. It was written on purpose. The Dweebs do things so opening the book can be dangerous because you let the Dweebs out. They already did things. True Story: "A woman was driving down the freeway listening to a Dweeb CD and almost wrecked her car because the Dweebs made her laugh to hard. She had to pull over." The narrator is like the main character and tells the story and gets most everything wrong so you do not know what is going to happen. He is really smart because the Dweebs teach him and don''t even know they are doing it. Like, watching a broken down TV. The narrator gets really excited. The Dweebs even have a mom that can talk. When the Dweebs do things in the book, it really gets exciting doesn''t it? Basically, Dweebville is about taking something very boring and really making it funny, interesting and weird. Dweebville is actually a dead end street with 2 houses on it. The Dweebs house and the Human house make up Dweebville. There are exactly 3 Dweebs and 3 human kids and the Dweebs mom living there. So, you can imagine the excitement when they have a great celebration and the human kids leave riding their tricycles leaving only the 3 Dweebs. Dweebville is also illustrated with unusual pictures. The Dweebs house is actually an open box with balloons in it with smoke coming out of the chimney. It also has a pair of glasses on it so you know it''s the Dweebs house. A fully orchestrated audio CD with voices and sound effects is available for Dweebville. There are other stories also: Nothingville where a man comes to town and sells nothing with the same narrator. The town gets really mad at him for selling nothing because you are supposed to sell something. Betterville, where a man comes to town and sells magic water for a dime and it really does make your life better. Why would the people get mad? About the narrator and how he thinks. The Impossible, about the write brothers inventing the first air plane. The narrator

"Once in a while you get shown the light..." Garcia Hunter is a pot-smoking Deadhead immersed in the corrupt world of Pennsylvania politics. After fifteen years in the employ of his lifelong friend, State Representative Delano Trodske, Garcia's sense of right and wrong has been horribly twisted by years of looking the other way-and he is determined to regain his lost integrity. With the guidance of his cat and the ghost of Jerry Garcia, his quest for enlightenment is further inspired by the lyrics of Grateful Dead's Robert Hunter. But even as he finds his way back to himself, Garcia never suspects one as insignificant as he could be receiving guidance from cosmic forces he can neither identify nor understand...or that the "purpose" the Universe has chosen for him might be far more important than the reclamation of his soul-or the salvation of the political system. Garcia slowly, inexorably drifts from a world of possessions and power to one of spiritual health and personal understanding. He begins to see the larger patterns and appreciate the hidden structure of reality. He finds the true meaning of love and success. But mostly, he gets stoned a lot. Written with intelligence, insight, and humor, Terry Shaffer's provocative new book is a compelling and highly entertaining romp through the world of politics, spiritual development, and personal truths.

A sadistic serial killer is on the loose in the once idyllic community of Eden Beach. In the summer of 1973, Michael Reese and his friends are looking forward to their senior year of high school until two dead bodies are found on the lawn of their favorite neighborhood park. Brothers, Phillip and Johnny Mulu, have been murdered and their friends, a newly formed but vicious gang born in the Oakwood Housing Projects, go on the rampage, looking for justice. Anybody who knew the two brothers said the murders had to have something to do with gangs since Johnny, known as the Cookie Monster, had been running with one gang or another since junior high. They figured Phillip the more level headed of the two was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But when Mike's little sister, Maddie, overhears a conversation hinting that Phillip, the ladies' man, may have had a sugar mama, it changes the face of the game. Enemies of the two brothers start to disappear or turn up dead and, as the bodies pile up, Mike and his two best friends find themselves on opposite sides of the war. When Jesse Jordan and Terrence "T-Money" Mitchell join the Oaktown Boys they abandon their friendship with Mike which began way back in grade school. Even with his other friends, new father Manny Ortega, gentle giant Sonny Mulu or spoiled, obnoxious football teammate Derek Daniels, Mike feels lost and alone without the other two. Because all of the murder victims are drug dealers, gang members or both, people are quick to blame the Oaktown Boys and their allies while others start to believe the killer is a vigilante, waging his own war against the scourge that has tainted their little piece of heaven. Recently discharged Vietnam vet, Detective Paul Driscoll is assigned to the case. After receiving an anonymous tip about a secret meeting at a waterfront bar that doubles as a bookmaking shack, Driscoll has reason to believe that the murderer is a student at John F. Kennedy High. As he digs deeper into the crimes, Driscoll begins to uncover the unsavory secrets of the city's rich and powerful and puts his own life, and the lives of anyone who tries to help him, in jeopardy. It takes all his wits to keep himself, his witnesses and informants alive as Blue becomes all too real. As they grow into adulthood, Mike Reese and his friends try to go on with their lives but find that they are haunted by the unsolved murders. As they piece together clues from the decades-long, on-going crimes, they uncover facts that lead to the arrest and shocking truth about one of their own.

The Makeover You Can't Afford to Miss... "There was a time when I struggled with who I was. I would look into the mirror and see a distorted reflection covered with flaws. I tried desperately to cover my imperfections, but all I could see were my failures staring back at me. Christ was part of my life-I read my Bible, prayed, meditated, and was even active in the church-but I still felt incomplete. Then, in 2012, I was involved in a car accident. My injuries prevented me from returning to work for several months, and I began to feel depressed. As I battled insomnia one night, the sweet voice of God reminded me that He had spared my life for a reason, so I picked up my Bible with a new resolve. And the more I read, the clearer things became. Seeking Christ became the emphasis of my life. His words changed the reflection I saw in the mirror, and I began to see myself becoming more and more like Christ as I studied His blueprint and applied it to my life." Reflections of Christ is a collection of biblical meditations, with many of the scriptures that inspired Tritia Miller-Edwards during her recovery. These words gave her knowledge and understanding of the power and might of Christ, but also revealed her worth to Him. If you are struggling with your reflection, open your heart and mind to the transformative powers of Christ, and prepare to begin your ultimate makeover!
