The Lord inspired me to write this book. One Sunday afternoon while watching one of the TV ministries, the announcer talked about the Prayer of Jabez book. He exclaimed that one scripture became the bases for a best selling book. At that moment, the Lord placed in my spirit an idea to write a book and entitle it, "When Boaz Comes - Be Ready and Prepared". Immediately, I began writing and continued late into the night. For many nights thereafter, I awoke usually around 3 am, and wrote. I interviewed single women, divorced women, ladies in long term relationships, (I called these Ladies in Waiting). In addition, I interviewed those who opted to live with their partners without the benefit of the marriage covenant. These relationships were referred to as "Playing House". Later, the Lord instructed me to interview men with similar circumstances and entitle this, "When Eve Comes - Be Ready and Prepared". This would become a 2-in-1 book. I asked pertinent questions such as, why do you think you are still single? Is marriage becoming obsolete? Why do you think your marriage failed and what part did you play in the failure? I took their testimonies and I am sharing them with the reader in the hope that you may learn from others. Also, if you are single or involved in any of the situations mentioned, and would like to marry or remarry, you may avoid or steer clear of the pitfalls other have encountered, Read the testimonies entrusted to me. "FOR THE LORD HAS DETERMINED THE MAN THAT HE HAS PREPARED FOR ME WOULD NOT BE A BOAZ, BUT A DAVID. DAVID WAS A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART. HE WAS A KING WHO LOVED GOD WITH ALL HIS HEART AND GOD LOVED AND BLESSED HIS LIFE WITH ABUNDANCE. I KNOW WHO I AM IN THE LORD AND I DESERVE A KING. I AM IN A PLACE WHERE I NO LONGER NEED TO BE A "FIXER-UPPER". I HAVE PUT UP MY TOOL BELT. IN FACT, I DON'T EVEN WANT OR OWN A HAMMER. FAR TOO MANY TIMES I HAD TO FIX WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY MATE. SOMETIMES I HAD TO PAY TO FIX TEETH, FIX
Rhiannan is a 17-year-old Half-Elf who spends most of her days with her beautiful Druid mother, quietly tending to the Sacred Grove and mastering the secrets and spells of the forest. "There are things even in Nature that you must protect yourself against, Rhiannan," her mother often warns, "and there are some things that Nature did not create." Rhiannan learns of predators and natural balances and of the Gil Chren-a shadowy enemy who kills outside of the balance of predator and prey. Rhiannan's world comes crashing down around her one night when her Home-Tree and Sacred Grove are destroyed in a fire set by an ominous black rider...and her mother is nowhere to be found. Alone and terrified, Rhiannan flees through the forest that has always protected her, only to find herself at the mercy of strangers. In the space of two days, she saves the life of a Dwarf Prince, catches the eye of an Elf Lord, and finds a Human half-brother she didn't know she had. They all want to help her find her mother and save her home, but how will she protect them from the Dark that relentlessly pursues her?
The Bible tells one story. It's about how a Holy God deals with a sinful, fallen and broken people. At the center of that story is Jesus. Fellowship was broken in the Garden of Eden but God didn't really go anywhere. The story of "God with us" doesn't begin and end in the Gospels. GOD IS NEAR is his promise to his people, and it's found in every book of the Bible. There should not be a disconnect between the Old Testament and the New. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are actually at work throughout. Much of what God did in bringing Israel out of Egypt and establishing a kingdom is symbolic of the Christian church. Moses is a type of Christ in many different ways. The tabernacle, veil of separation, lamb of sacrifice and office of the High Priest are all meant to help New Testament believers understand who Christ is and what he does. God is Near: His Promise to His People does more than analyze the relationship of the books of the Bible. Beginning in the Garden of Eden we embark on a journey through God's Word, exploring the relationship between God and his chosen people. God is holy and only what is holy can come into his presence. But he has always been close! God spoke to Moses from the burning bush, appeared to the Hebrews in pillars of fire and cloud, and radiated his visible presence above the tabernacle. At Sinai his people saw him descend on the mountain and heard his voice, and at Jericho they obediently watched as he won their battles for them. God was in the manger at Bethlehem and on the cross at Calvary. He filled the upper room in Acts 2 and the hearts of 3,000 believers who repented and were baptized that same day. God's Holy Spirit dwells today in the heart of every believer. He is not waiting for us in some darkened church sanctuary; just as Jesus said he must be about his Father's business so must his children today. The Kingdom of God was at hand in Jesus' day and the people of his Kingdom today are sharing the Gospel, giving out food, digging wells
Some poets amuse; some paint pictures; some entertain or create rhymes for all occasion cards! They serve a purpose and occupy their post in culture. Other poets put emotions and events into words that store them as memories! Then there are the fringe poets who make connections between moments in Time and enduring moments in Eternity. Those weavers of words are spurred on by a need to make sense out of existence. Their verses are prophetic and self-examining! Their verses are generally misunderstood until the next low tide in history proves they did see a future others could not grasp. A few poets come to mind as examples of this school of poets! Walt Whitman..DH Lawrence..TS Eliot..Joseph Brodsky!! Their poetry rises out of observant and questioning minds. Their creations come with restless spirits and a quest of searching for connections! They come across as critical because what they experience does not make sense! So they point out inconsistencies and remind us that the lessons of history are not remembered. THE NOCTURNS OF A ROAD MONK, written by Ronnie Vehorn, is an addition to this poetic tradition. The desire to find connections, to make sense, or to face the contradictions that society will not face run through these poems creating a path that readers can follow in their own journeys. Vehorn maintains a comparable style of the power of words. The ability to connect familiar contexts in new ways adds depth to the work. Reading THE NOCTURNS can be something like wading in shallow water with unexpected drop offs. The first 147 poems were written during a season of discipline when Vehorn set himself the goal of creating at least one poem a day. This discipline began in Tucson AZ on November 20, 2013. That discipline was strictly observed for 108 days at which time Vehorn's journals contained 147 poems. Comments from the Outskirts Press team give insight into the style and personality of this poetry. "I want you to know that you have a fantastic writing sty

The short stories in The Kentland River Washout vary in theme-from friendship, loyalty, forgiveness, betrayal, love, envy, hope, death, grief, trust, and faith. But the one thread that binds this mosaic tapestry is the transformative impact of the raging floodwaters of the Kentland River, disrupting the lives of people living all along its meandering path. Family secrets are revealed, marriages are jeopardized, fractured relationships are healed, and so much more in this collection. While the characters range in age and socioeconomic background, the stories themselves are based on one common theme: how people respond to the daily challenges of life in the midst of a catastrophic event. The Kentland River Washout is a unique compilation of fiction written by the members of the Bookies of Williamsburg, an enterprising book club comprised of ladies who enjoy meeting monthly for lively discussions on a wide range of literary material. For this project, each of the ten participants had the creative license to weave her own story about the aftermath of a flood. It was a chance for the women to lift their own voices and share their stories-ten authors drawing their source from the waters of the fictitious Kentland River.
One of the initiatives that I took in life to get by was to hitchhike when I needed to travel. When I would hitchhike I would tell my host driver stories for entertainment out of gratitude for giving me a ride. I tried to tell stories that were about my experiences and that were entertaining and educational. These included brushes with fame including Bill Gates, who I made the richest person in the world, and my struggles with growing up with a disability. You be the judge. I decided to compile my stories in a book for you. Imagine me with my thumb out on the side of the road. Pick me up for the drive and be entertained and educated.
