  • - Aphrodite's Flower - The Story of Thomas - Book One of the Aphrodite Chronicles
    av Raymond C Woods
    354,-

The Pink Rose is a modern day version of the mythical tale of the creation of the pink rose by Aphrodite in Ancient Greece. The Pink Rose, the first of three books of the Aphrodite Chronicles' series, is a romantic novel set in the late 1960's and early 1970's that shows that true love can be timeless. Thomas Roberts is now an eighteen year old student and since the second grade, Pam Collins, now seventeen, has always been a distant part of his life. It took ten years for them to finally come to terms with the unexplainable feelings they shared with each other. For a year, they were seen as the perfect couple until the day that Thomas makes a decision based on what he perceives as the right choice; however, Thomas must get Pam to fall out of love with him. When this does not happen, Thomas does the most desperate thing he can do to, and then he disappears. When Thomas finally returns home, it is not the wounds from battle that he suffers from. Thomas has fought too long to keep his love for Pam inside of him, yet now, as his life is slowing being drained from him, his will to hold on is all but over. There is only one person who might save him, but Pam must forgive him first, yet she has lost the ability to love. Her heart is filled with too much hatred and anger caused by what Thomas did to her; however, with some heavenly intervention by two angels, Pam slowly begins to understand what she is actually feeling.

"ROCK PROVIDES BIBLICAL ANSWERS!" "Faith Alive!" is an excellent source of information and guidance for pastors, Bible teachers, church officers and members-in fact, for all believers seeking guidance in matters of personal and group relationships. "Faith Alive!" also address a wide variety of challenging societal issues. It does both via Bible principles that are well documented, attractively presented and clearly understood. Doctor Rock, long- time pastor, administrator, ethicist and author, utilizes this broad background of study and experience in responding to the challenging questions of curious, confused, troubled and sometimes, even hostile inquirers. The extra bonus of his having been a college president for fourteen years and for eleven years chairman of the boards of Loma Linda University and Hospitals in Loma Linda, California, as well as consultant/speaker in seventy three countries on six continents; and oh, yes, being an African American trained in a conservative tradition, makes for conversation that is arresting yet relevant and Scripturally informed. Faith Alive provides perspectives and data regarding religion, race, parenting, domestic abuse, pastor-people relationships and a host of other topics that teachers in any faith- group will find extremely informative and useful.

These writings are gritty, impacting the reader in a blunt and brutal manner. They speak of a life on the streets, riding the rails, homelessness and fear-fullness, loneliness, desperation and futility, and, ultimately, hope and recovery. The author suffers from one of our Militaries dark secret's, MST/PTSD {Military Sexual Trauma related PTSD]. This person was brutally attacked by five crew-member's aboard the USS Dixie[AD14}, a destroyer Repair ship, deployed to the Philippine islands in the summer of 1974.He was attacked for two "reason's", openly sharing his Christianity, and for displaying emotion[crying]upon leaving his wife, pregnant with twins, 10 days before their delivery. He was brutally attacked, beaten and raped repeatedly with a grease gun aboard this ship. He was threatened with being thrown over-board [while 1000 mile's at sea], if he ever spoke of this, and, finally, had to face his attacker's for the next 1.5 years afterwards. His faith in God was shattered, he is emotionally "dead" to this day, cannot experience the feeling of love. This incident was followed by 40 yrs. Of alcohol and drug addiction, 10 yrs. Of homeless-ness, 5 of them spent riding freight trains around the country, 5 spent hitch-hiking as a life-style. He is shackled by all of the symptoms of chronic PTSD. He has been through 8 different treatment centers, including the V.A. treatment center for Chronic PTSD in Bay Pine's, Fla. Lastly, as a direct result of these symptom's, he was required to resign his last job of 15 yrs., and lost a marriage of 17 yrs. His writings are part of his personal therapy, with the hope of impacting other Veteran's, and of showing the price the American Veteran continues to pay for his Service, years after that service ended.

"I'm Catchin' Hell," chronicles the life of Joshua Townsend after he experiences a life altering event. Joshua reflects on pivotal moments within his life that explain how he ended up in a place that could ultimately lead to his demise. He remembers important moments which occurred within his life that had major impact on the man that he became. Several specific periods of life, which affected every relationship he encountered. I'm Catchin' Hell is a depiction of situations that occur within everyday life. Situations where individuals would endure physical, mental and psychological turmoil to maintain the perception of a perfect relationship. "I'm Catchin' Hell was written to describe how some relationships or couples are perceived as perfect from societies point of view. Often a couple's relationship may seem perfect and blissful from an outsider looking in, but behind closed doors things are far from perfect. We have no idea what an individual is willing to endure and sacrifice to maintain a façade of perfection. We tend to lose ourselves attempting to portray the role of the ideal husband, wife, lover etc... It was best said by the Spinners, "It takes a fool to learn that love don't love nobody."

"Obesity, fibromyalgia, fatigue, diabetes, arthritis, digestive issues, and general poor health have common threads. The Regenesis program focuses light on these common threads." Dr. Garry Collins is a 1997 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta Georgia. He received his diplomate in Acupuncture in 1998 and is a Fellow of The International Academy of Medical Acupuncturists. He practices holistic health care in his small home town of Floyd Virginia. "This book was inspired by my mother, she died from the complications of diabetes. She was taking over ten prescription drugs multiple times a day, including massive amounts of injectable insulin. My mother was given what I feel was the wrong advice by her doctors for decades. She was given very poor nutritional advice by countless so called "nutritionists". Her diet was replete with refined wheat products, hidden sugars, artificial sweeteners, packaged foods and canned synthetic vitamin "shakes". In what is a very predictable scenario, my mother had every complication you could imagine. She had heart problems that required bypass surgery, this led to a MRSA infection she contracted in the hospital that required removal of her sternum. Removal of her sternum required a muscle flap surgery that eventually created a massive abdominal hernia. She was in the hospital for 64 days for all of that to resolve. Also evolving were kidney (fluid) problems, breathing difficulty, countless doctor visits to "specialists" and many nights in the hospital for her and her family members in the last 10 years of her life. It was a very difficult thing for her and her family, most of this was preventable. Diabetes cases continue to increase. Type 2 diabetes is primarily a dietary problem, not a lack of medications. Diabetes creates an environment that spawns other health problems including: hypertension, Alzheimer's disease, obesity, arthritis, degenerative joints (especially knees),
