As mankind continues to ravage the planet we call home, the Earth refuses to become just another victim of our destructive nature. It is the Earth that gives us life, not us who gives life to the Earth. She will fight back with billions of years of experience on her side. She shows favor to those who live in harmony with her, and delivers devastating blows to those who mean her harm. She tries to warn us that her beauty will not always be evident, that danger lurks in her many facets, and that her ugliness, when it does appear, is not intentional. She was just born that way. She will warm us, feed us, clothe us and protect us if we are wise. Freeze us, starve us, strip us and destroy us if we are not. We are at her mercy for our survival. Yet, we expect her to bend to our will, as if it were the other way around. We blindly ignore warnings that if our current global consumption and production patterns continue, by 2050 we'd need three planets to sustain our current lifestyles. We selfishly expect her to bear the burden on her own. Meanwhile, man looks to the stars for answers to all the wrong questions, and then looks into polluted waters down here and wonders why he sees no reflection. What stories will we tell our children when they ask us how things got like this? Will it be a story of how we learned from our mistakes and realized every human is precious? Will we tell them that we came to our senses and found ways to live in harmony with the planet and each other? Will we be able to tell them how we finally demanded that love conquer hatred? That when we finally figured out we had no place else to go, we cried to the Earth for her forgiveness? Will we be able to tell them that it's not problems they should fear, rather, they should fear those who deny the problem exists, and therefore stand in the way of finding a solution? We live amongst plants and animals great and small, and when we were few in number, all other living things were better off. Air was pur

  • - Everyday Golfers are the Real Character of the Game
    av J Peter Hoyer
    193,-

Witty, sarcastic, and humorously captivating. Real episodes with real golfers, and real funny. We called him "Mr. D," not his correct name, but one that he liked. Mr. D was rich enough to own all the pineapple fields on Oahu, but he'd rather sneak out and steal a few pineapples instead. "Hank" turns out to be a virulent "Hank-Enstein" in the chapter of the same name. You will discover that the three "Patrick's" have something more in common than their given names. "Doc," not an actual doctor, and Nick, who may have been the inspiration behind the cable TV series, The Sopranos, are more of the personalities who are the focus of these chapters. There are numerous books devoted to professional athletes. For the game of golf in particular, readers can find publications about Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods, and many other pros. But what about the millions of amateurs who play the game? They are seriously overlooked-until now. "Great Chapters. Enjoyable and relatable for anyone who has spent any time around the game. Pete makes the many characters of the game we can all identify with come alive." -Andy Weissinger, PGA, 2009 PGA Patriot Award Winner. "Pete's lifelong love for the game has given experiences that any golf lover would enjoy. Read this and you will see why golf is more than a game. It has Character." -Nick Zanca, Director of Golf, Kiskiack Golf Club.

  • - The Word Sequence for Uniting the People of the Planet Earth
    av C Anthony Walk

Imagine having a headache. What would you do? Take an aspirin? Massage your palms just beneath your thumbs? Go to sleep? What if the headache is so painful it hurts to breathe, move or even think? Would you go see a doctor? Probably, right? The doctor can basically do two things; mask the pain with medication or identify the root cause and correct it. Like the use of medicine that blocks the pain, Humanity has been conditioned to deny, or ignore, the universally common and unnecessary reality that Human Beings pay to live. We are numb to the fact the world is a byproduct of efforts to steal the natural resources of the planet and do little, if anything, besides taking aspirin, to stop the theft. C Anthony Walk believes the root cause of a world, where, conservatively 50% of the population is materially poor, 42% have no running water, sink or toilet, and war is the foundation for the global economy, is fear of a non-European/non-Christian dominant culture. The idea of dominance is misused when the emphasis should be on the universal themes shared by every culture. Humanity's common values are more than enough to build a new world and new idea of what it means to live. To be alive. To be Human. By addressing the root cause of the pain we clearly see Humanity is evolving. One day Humans will be able to do whatever can be imagined if we are Good, Knowledgeable and Healthy. Humanity is evolving and the standards of previous generations will not apply to the coming ones. In many ways they don't apply now. New standards of acceptable public behavior, acceptable public broadcast content, of what is expected from those elected to represent, legislate and preside. Leadership is changing to demonstrate a broader vision of Human capacity, the idea of a cosmopolitan civilization, and the opportunities awaiting here on Earth and out in the Galaxies. The Planeterian Principles is a book for people who believe there are civilizations on other planets and that the Planet Earth

  • - Confessions, Secrets & Poetry
    av Edna Rowell
    199,-

Bitter Sweet a collections of events, poetry, secrets ,and confessions surrounding my life. It is about the horrible things I endured in life. Starting at the age of 5 I was molested by step-dad and it went on for a few years. My mother never believed a word I said to her about the incidents. She would just tell me to go to my room. At first I thought she didn''t believe me due him beating her all the time but I later found out it was because she was afraid to lose her man. She chose him over me and I ended up being place elsewhere. I grew up very angry with her because I felt like she should of protected me instead of choosing a man over her own child. As I grew older I became very bitter and wanted answers that will never be given to me. I was living with my grandmother who was my fathers mom at the time. She was kind and loving to me but I still wasn''t happy. I rebelled a lot and started joining any activity after school that I could to stay away from the house. I ended joining the Color Guard within my high school JROTC department but I needed help learning all the moves so my team could win at competitions. I got offered the help that I needed by one of my peers and she sent her cousin to come pick me up. That pick up was one of the worse things that could have happened to me. I never made it to my peers house. Instead I was taken in the opposite direction where I was later gang raped by different men and ended up pregnant by one of the guys. Even though I thought things couldn''t get any worse after that I ended up being depressed and suicidal. I felt unloved and thought that the world would be better off with out me. Later on I started getting in one bad relationship after another , discovering my sexuality and learning life lessons the hard way.

  • - An Untold Story of World War II
    av Onalee
    261,-

Love & Kisses, Max is a compilation of love letters, a forbidden journal, a secret code, photos, radio news reports, a P.O.W.'s thank you, and war-time memorabilia of seventy years ago. The journal and letters were written by Max Elwood Guger who served aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Yorktown (The Fighting Lady) in 1944 and 1945. Love & Kisses, Max reads like an illustrated novel. It begins with Max's induction into the Navy in 1944 and his experience in boot camp during wartime. Assigned to the Yorktown, Max daily journals the ship's position, battle engagements, casualties and victories. He describes the end of the war, the surrender of Japan, and the rescue of P.O.W.'s. He has the opportunity to survey the destruction in Yokohama, and writes a vivid depiction in a letter. The news reports, published by the ship from radio reports, convey the gravity of a world at war. This is NOT a war story, however. This is a portrayal of a man's love and angst expressed in letters. Defined by censorship regulations, their cool demeanor show how he protected his family from worry while engaged in war. They are the heart of this story. This is life as we lived it during World War II. It is the reality of an ordinary family coping in the midst of crises. Add in the photographs and childhood memories, and it becomes a rare glimpse into history from a unique perspective.

  • - A Survival Guide To Teaching
    av Dan Henderson
    200,-

Have you ever had a student pretend to bring in Cocoa Puffs and instead she fed the whole class dog food? Have you ever had a kid threaten to take his clothes off if you asked him to read? Do you have a student who thinks he is Michael Jackson and grabs his crotch saying "hee, hee" instead of raising his hand? Follow these real life stories of an inner city teacher's struggle to instruct unruly kids and find simple solutions a teacher or parent can use to manage children. When you have children of your own, you realize the struggle of preoccupying one child. Add 20 or more children into the mix and you have teaching. How are you going to keep every child occupied and group different learners? How are you going to manage the kid who jumps out of windows? Instead of writing a textbook, Dan Henderson decided to write a compilation of teachable moments. That's Special is arranged with each chapter starting with how the situation went awry. The tension builds, and the student pushes the teacher to the inevitable standoff. Are you going to issue a consequence, or will you chicken out? The book relays the importance of standing up to threats during child rearing. Incorporating recent research, these stories relay a lesson behind the calamity. Dan presents teaching tools that anyone can use to improve their teaching. Dan's experiences can help you better ward off teaching mistakes before they happen, such as responding calmly to kids who claim they have seen the devil. While holy water is not included, it is recommended while reading this book. When Dan saw his students doing something strange, he would think "That's Special," as a cue to not take his job too seriously. It is his inspirational mantra for his mental health. He used it to remind himself to get back in the saddle, laugh it off, and develop one of life's greatest skills, perseverance. From the Author: Layered in all the ridiculous stories are real experiences you might encounter, which I
