For the first time, an Indian author brings science, yoga, and philosophy onto the same platform. The depth of understanding of the author of the subjects is admirable. Beginning with the Trika philosophy of Kashmir, moving ahead with legends like Agastya of Tantara doctrine of Srividya fame, he shifts to the yoga masters of Bengal from more recent times and then proceeds to show that Jesus too had preached the same truths about the true nature of the world around us, and also about us. He presents them in a way that physics, chemistry, and biology turn into mere predictions of a much higher science.

Evidence shows that our planet has been getting hotter. The warmest 20 years on record have been in the last 22 years according to the World Meteorological Organization and the warmest four were all very recent: 2015 to 2020. Global average temperatures are now 1.2°C (2.16°F) higher than in the pre-industrial era. A degree doesn't sound like a lot, but the reality is that this incremental warming already appears to be having a negative impact. What's more, if recent trends continue, this is set to worsen, with predictions of global temperatures increasing by as much as 2.7°C (4.86°F) by 2100. Even with this tiny rise in global temperatures we are feeling the effects of climate change with erratic weather patterns including heatwaves, floods and severe storms, loss of polar ice, and rising sea levels. This will only get worse if global warming intensifies. Considering this Global Important cause for humanity, Our Honorable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi has set Target of 2070 to make India "Net Zero". To make Net Zero India, we need to start from our village and rural part of India. Villages are prime important for us as they are backbone of Indian Economy. The Guidelines given in this book focus on the current situation of the village of India, developing an approach that aims to build upon normative research on climate resilient, energy and resource efficient planning principles to develop tools for the development of net zero carbon village in India.

In families belonging to the middle-class, there is often a prevailing notion that daughters should complete their education quickly and find a suitable husband. I, too, pursued an M.A. in Sociology following this mindset. However, as the search for a suitable groom continued, it was decided that instead of staying at home, I should pursue an M.A. in Political Science from Lucknow University. During my first year of studies, my marriage was arranged with a suitable groom. Given the size of the family, attending university became impractical. Nevertheless, while living with my family, I managed to find some time for myself and realized that I could write. We all go through various incidents in our lives, and we cannot simply ignore them. Although we may try to brush off certain events, they linger in our minds like the smoke of a cigarette.Sometimes, an incident touches a sensitive part of our hearts. It became my responsibility to capture such incidents or thoughts in writing. In this way, these incidents or thoughts would shape our stories.Social and familial events often have a profound influence on our thoughts, mindset, and even our values. At times, they can even shake our conscience. That is what I aim to depict. The expression should be sincere and devoid of pretense, while the story should be complete in its simplicity. The length of the story is not of utmost importance. I am inspired by the day-to-day instances around me and have expressed them in an imaginative spin without any embellishments, prejudice or judgement.

The Indians is one of the most ambitious projects yet undertaken to map the origins, evolution, and present-day reality of India's civilization and people. Written by over one hundred of South Asia's foremost scholars and domain experts, the essays in the book cover a period of some 12,000 years-from the last Ice Age to the twenty-first century. The book is divided into seven sections. The first part looks at the evolution of humans in South Asia through the lens of the early 'Indian' population, their migrations, and the climate. The second part focuses on the emergence of different civilizations in the region through the domestication of plants and animals and other factors and how these civilizations eventually begin to decline. The third part discusses the languages and philosophies that defined ancient India-Buddhism, Jainism, Sanskrit, Indo-Iranian languages, and Pali literature, among others. The fourth part is a detailed study of society and culture in various geographical regions--the North, South, Northeast, the Deccan, East, and West India. The fifth part looks at the advent of colonialism and its impact on the country's economy, social fabric, and knowledge systems. The sixth part looks at Adivasi movements, Ambedkarite politics, Gandhian resistance, and other events that would come to form the bedrock of the independent republic. And, finally, the seventh part looks at contemporary India--the workings of the Constitution and urbanism, liberalization, and other aspects of the modern Indian experience. Taken together, the essays in the book provide remarkable insights into Indian history and society--Front jacket flap.
