Dating is a strange phenomenon, and it has always been that way since the beginning of time. With trying to get all personality traits, good and bad lined up perfectly with each other, and of course, there must be a spark, it is amazing that people truly do find the one. I realized in my dating journey there would be highs and lows and ups and downs, but nothing in my life prepared me for the roller coaster ride that turned me upside down and inside out. The turns and the twists were unimaginable, leaving me bewildered, panic stricken and always self-doubting that for myself, maybe the one would never be found. My book takes the reader on a ride through the depths of dating in this era and the hidden forces and powers behind it. This story is also mine, filled with disappointments, and joy, finding that your one true love doesn't always have to be the man or woman you are looking for. It can be God in all His glory reaching out to you with His hand letting you know that even when you cannot find the perfect man or woman to love you, God will always love you and He is perfect. Take a ride with me and feel the power of God as He moves me to see in life what is important and what is not. Sometimes the one thing that is right in front of us waiting for us, is blocked by our own disillusions of what we want, or in my case what I thought I needed to be truly whole. Enjoy the ride and God's blessing.

Sabotage and Silhouettes has a deeper meaning that just two words thrown together to form a creative alliteration. Each word holds a significant meaning in the title of this book.Sabotage is the deliberate damage, destruction, or obstruction of something. In this instance, it relates to my life, and possibly even parts of yours. The traumas that we go through, lead us to specific actions and emotions. When we feed into those emotions, we start to create chaos, sometimes intentionally and sometimes, unintentionally. Either way, we begin to self-sabotage. Whether we sabotage potential or existing relationships, important friendships, or even our own growth. We start to get in our own way. Many times, after the many losses I've gone through, I found myself sabotaging the very things that were sent to heal me. Silhouettes are dark shapes or outlines of someone or something against a lighter background. Our dark parts. Especially in times of anguish or hardship. Through traumas, everything goes dark. The silhouettes represent the dark parts of our lives, our mentality, our soul. Even with light all around, a silhouette will remain dark, and the details are impossible to make out. This is exactly how I felt through all my dark times. I wasn't myself for months, maybe even a year or so, but the silhouettes hid the details in the dark while the light was still shining all around me. It made it hard for people to 'see' me. And even harder for me to 'show' myself to those around me. I shut down. And everything became dark.

How can one fight through to transform the overcast of life's tribulations or the stigma of being a Black man in America? The Shadow Behind the Dream is an amazing novel which documents a young man's right of passage in his teenaged years. Seventeen-year-old Jamari Picand is growing up in Williston, North Dakota. Life for him has not always been easy, and it seems to only get worse. In addition to being one of the few African Americans in a predominantly white town, being socially awkward has caused him to experience life differently and more difficult than his peers. He is forced to deal with racism and stereotypes, a constant struggle with fitting in, on top of already having to deal with the woes of being a teen. The Shadow Behind the Dream is inspired by author Phyllistone Termine's real life events. Born to immigrant parents Phyllistone, was forced to find a quick way to get money to aid his growing drug habit. In 2017, he was arrested on fraud charges at the age of 19. Today, he is a poet, songwriter, rapper, author, producer, and motivational speaker, despite being incarcerated. From his book, Phyllistone says, "e;Now I'm focusing on being the best person I can be and becoming a productive member of society"e;.
