The Poets of the Promise started as a twice-a-month writing workshop group. Born from the idea that people of faith should have a place to cultivate and create their poetry, the workshop aimed to train aspiring and established poets to use the gifts that God gave them regarding language. The books that came from the workshop were the physical manifestation of the effort, and God has given us the message in no uncertain terms, to go out and find more poetic messengers. So we put out a wider call for submissions for this anthology. The response to this anthology is proof of how many poets are out there, writing about these topics. This volume contains poetry from poets all over the United States and beyond. We hope the words in these pages inspire and enlighten. God Bless.

Bards Against Hunger was founded in 2013 by the Bards Initiative, a poetry group on Long Island, NY that hosts many readings and publishes local anthologies. The leaders of this group came up with the idea to host a poetry reading that would gather food for the hungry around Thanksgiving time as a way for poets to give back to their local community. The poets of Long Island loved the idea and flocked to help organize, read at the event, and gather food. The event was such a success that the group decided to make it an annual event--and keep the tradition strong and growing each year. Then, the sister-group NoVA Bards in Northern Virginia decided to do the same thing in solidarity and raise food for the local pantries in their area. Then, poetry groups in other states started to join in the cause one after another and there were events in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kansas, Texas, California, Maryland and Delaware, North and South Carolina, Florida and more. To date there have been almost 100 Bards Against Hunger readings across the country. And we aim to continue the tradition for many years to come. This 10 year anthology is a celebration of a lot of the poetry that has been shared in the spirit of giving, and is comprised of 200 poets from around the world. The proceeds from the sale of this anthology will go to helping Bards Against Hunger grow, and host more events to raise more food for local pantries and food banks.

Long Island, New York, is a place known for quite a few haunted locations. From the Amityville Horror, to the Princess of Lake Ronkonkoma, to the Kings Park Psychiatric Center just to name a few, the area is known for locations and spaces that are said to possess supernatural tendencies that capture the dark side of the imagination. But the term "haunting" takes on many different meanings. The writing in this volume, both poetry and prose, explores the concept of Long Island Haunts, both in the traditional, and non-traditional meanings of the word. Poet Laureate is a title that dates back to ancient Greece. The state would appoint a Laureate, crowning them with a laurel wreath the same way they did for heroes. The concept was revived during the classical era and the mystique of the title has kept hold over the centuries and the tradition continues in modern times. This volume contains poetry from over 100 Poets Laureate. They have been appointed by various entities including towns, cities, counties, states, organizations and institutions. They come from all over the United States, and around the world. Many of them teach classes, hold workshops, organize reading and are community leaders in their circles. This volume represents a tradition that is thousands of years old, and comprises a collection of poetic talent worthy of a Wreath of Golden Laurels.

A hotel with a ghost? A good story, but it can't be true. A haunted cemetery? Everyone knows that's a just a kids' rumor. And really, who ever heard of a stuffed unicorn causing harm to children? That's ridiculous!>Not in "13 Dark Tales," where there is only one certainty: no one is safe. Young or old, good or evil, rest assured that darkness is always lurking behind the corner. And no one escapes unscathed. Here, a whisper can unearth a skeleton long since buried, disbelief can be fatal, and neither children nor toys are as innocent as they appear. So, come turn out the light, open this book, and don't mind the tapping at the window. There's probably no one there. Really. www.dogearedbard.com
