High Price is a thrilling journey into chasing the American Dream during a brief window when it was open to anyone willing to take the risk: the Wild West days of California's early medical marijuana markets. Luke Scarmazzo, a working-class kid from Modesto, California, started the first state-legal cannabis dispensary in the conservative Central Valley. From humble beginnings and hard work, it seemed Luke and his team of high school friends were on the verge of establishing generational wealth and getting in on the ground level of what would become a multi-billion dollar legal industry. This page-turning tale chronicles the rise and tragic fall of Luke's pioneering cannabis empire. Written from solitary confinement in a federal prison ten years later as a pardon languished on President Trump's desk, High Price is a mature and poignant reflection on poverty, opportunity, and the devastation left in the wake of America's War on Drugs. "This book is likely to become a canon in the chronicles of cannabis history, and is required reading for anyone seeking to understand where humanity went wrong regarding marijuana prohibition and criminalization." - Jackie Bryant, journalist

When the Israelites strayed from obedience to covenant union with God, He sent His prophets to call them to repentance and return to fellowship with Him. The prophets received vivid and frightening oracles and visions of armies of locusts, fiery chariots, monsters of land and sea, and the unstoppable force of God's divine wrath poured out like a flood to bring the people to repentance. However, there were four recurring images: covenant marriage, a fruitful vineyard or fig tree, shepherding domesticated animals, and drinking wine. Each recurring image group consisted of four parts: covenant unity, rebellion, judgment, and the promise of restoration. In His ministry, Jesus used the same four symbolic images to call humanity with the promise of eternal salvation in a new and everlasting covenant Kingdom.

Beauty is one of the most universal and timeless themes in art. Throughout history, artists have been fascinated by the human form, especially the female form, and have tried to capture its essence and express its meaning in various ways. Beauty is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also a matter of culture, values, emotions, and ideals. Beauty is subjective, relative, and dynamic. What is considered beautiful in one era, place, or society may not be in another. Beauty is also influenced by the personal preferences, experiences, and tastes of the artists and the viewers. In this book, I present a selection of my paintings that explore the concept of beauty in different historical periods and artistic movements. I have been a working professional painter all of my adult life, and I have always been interested in the history of art and the evolution of female beauty in art. I have studied the works of the masters and learned from their techniques, styles, and visions. I have also developed my own style of painting that combines realism, impressionism, and fantasy. I use realistic details, impressionistic colors, and fantastical elements to create my own interpretations of beauty. My paintings are not meant to be exact copies or reproductions of the original artworks, but rather my personal homage and tribute to them. I do not intend to imitate or compete with the masters, but to express my admiration and appreciation for their art. I also do not intend to make any definitive statements or judgments about beauty, but to invite the viewers to explore and enjoy the diversity and richness of beauty in art.
