In July of 1866, Congress passed the Army Reorganization Act, establishing six all-Black cavalry and infantry regiments. While African Americans had fought in every prior American military conflict, these units, which became known as Buffalo Soldiers, became the first peacetime regular regiments. Between 1875 and 1879, soldiers in the 9th Cavalry were stationed at Fort Garland. Early Buffalo Soldier units often consisted of men formerly enslaved. For many Buffalo Soldiers, military service offered one of the few opportunities to provide for themselves and their families. Regiments were frequently sent west and assigned to the front lines of the Indian Wars. As the United States pushed westward in its relentless conquest of land, Buffalo Soldiers found themselves serving the country at the expense of Native Americans who had called this land home for millennia. buffalo soldiers: reVisionThe Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center, a Community Museum of History Colorado, is proud to offer buffalo soldiers: reVision, an exhibition at the intersection of history, art, and place, exploring the complex the history and legacy of Buffalo Soldiers. Envisioned by lead artist Chip Thomas, aka jetsonorama, and in collaboration with several of the most talented and thoughtful artists across the country, reVision disrupts the mythology of the American West through the lens of the Buffalo Soldier experience. The exhibition critically examines the complexity of the American West in order to understand, acknowledge, and reconcile some of the most painful aspects of our collective history, while updating and expanding our understanding of the Buffalo Soldier legacy. We also view buffalo soldiers: reVision as an opportunity to look forward to the future of historical interpretation with renewed perspective and wisdom.

Like them, I have often wondered where I connect on the African continent. So I ventured out to answer that question. In Nov 2013, I took my first trip to Africa, specifically Nigeria. The people told me that I looked like I was from the Igbo and Yoruba people, two of the largest people groups (also known as tribes) in Nigeria, the largest country on the African continent. The visit was only ten days that went by too fast, leaving me yearning to return, but it would be six long years before I was able to set my feet on African soil again. Found My People is the inspirational story of how one African American connected to his ancestral roots and the revolutionary way that decision has immeasurably changed and enriched his life! Much more than that it is also a guide for all who want to connect to the roots and culture that has been hidden in your blood since you were born! It is for all who are the members of the hidden diaspora. ....................................................................................................................................................................Now is the time to embrace the greatness in your DNA. ....................................................................................................................................................................Are you ready for the journey?

In the style of Socratic dialogues, Angle raises the right questions and defends his own original answers. -- John Greco, Dept. of Philosophy, Fordham Universityor artist sees his world and distinguishes this from other types of expression such as a newspaper article, lab report, etc. Chapter Three defines and defends aesthetics and beauty as the evolutionary, positive extreme the basis of which is steeped in survival. It concludes that beauty is not in the eye of the beholder, and that the aesthetic sense has an evolutionary purpose to enable man to recognize and appreciate that which is positive for his survival. The works are done in a non-academic, explanatory style that lends itself to easy and enjoyable reading. Although philosophical and academic in content, The Nature of Aesthetics: Defining Literature, Art & Beauty is fun to read. The Nature of Aesthetics - Chapters One and Two define literature and art as the expression of how an author The work succinctly defines literature, art, and beauty in a manner that is engaging and readable.

We are a lot like flowers. Growing, blooming, and changing in response to the seasons of our lives. In some ways, our hair mirrors this same natural progression. We watch it as it changes from dark to light, from curly to straight, from long too short. It's a record of our growth and evolution, just like a flower's petals most gently unfurl with the sunlight and rain. And yet, when we take a closer look, these two expressions of beauty don't seem so much different after all. Both share the same delicate interplay of nature and nurture. Seeing progress causes consistency and being consistent causes growth.

A STORY OF LOVE, HEARTBREAK AND FINDING A WAY TO THE FUTUREBern Gresham begins his teaching career as the first white teacher in an all black, small town school in the Mississippi Delta during the Civil Rights Movement. The story details the racial conflicts and divided culture that permeated the times and that persists even today. The Delta's complicated and unique juxtaposition of beauty and brutality is presented with both the eye opening candor of a love/hate relationship and an empathetic sadness that the times and attitudes of the 60's still dictate life there where the "Past is the Present, and the Present is lived to ensure the Future doesn't change either of them."

This book is birthed out of Loretta's sincere, God-given burden that none be lost while in or out of the church. Knowing the dangers of being religious and not truly being born again, Loretta serves the Lord by helping to equip all church leaders and believers for the work of the Lord's ministry. She strengthens and encourages the youth to know the Word, the teachings from the Holy Bible. She believes that as a team, all can live a life pleasing to the Lord by being fruitful and winning lost souls for Christ "at any cost." But then making sure that those souls have a solid, rooted and grounded, adequately laid, Biblical, and doctrinal foundation upon which to build their spiritual house. Prayerfully this book will be used around the world to assist Church Leaders and Layman in getting properly discipled themselves (if that is needed), enabling them to go forth to fulfill the Great Commission: Go and make Disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:19

Kenna McCrea raised her brood of brothers and sisters since she was twelve years old after the death of their mother. But at least her father refused the offer to join a cattle drive and run its chuckwagon. Then McCoy demands Ben send one more herd north. Wranglers are scarce, many having stayed in Kansas. Ben needs to hire both of Miss McCrea's brothers again, even knowing how much it will distress her. Then a trio rides in who served in the cavalry with Ben. Three men who know his secret.
