Pero que en esos momentos por la intensidad que estoy viviendo no puedo, comprender o aceptar. Cosas hoy tan de moda como "Suelta" "acepta" o "fluye". Se me vuelven inentendible a la luz o la sombra de lo que estoy viviendo. Ni tampoco es consuelo, el saber que todo va a dejar una enseñanza. Por eso este libro solo, pretende ser una compañía idónea, para atravesar, eso tiempo que tengo que atravesar. Hasta que todo se vuelva a mover, hasta que la vida vuelva a tomar su curso. Quizás ya nunca sea como antes de ese evento, pero igualmente lo va a hacer. Mientras antes me pueda poner en marcha de nuevo mejor. Eso no va hacer que el dolor, duela menos. Pero me va permitir darle dimensión y perspectiva a las cosas. Este conjunto de pensamientos nos invita a investigar que la salida de toda situación cualquiera esta sea es siempre hacia adentro y hacia arriba. Es decir, nada afuera nuestro nos va a ayudar realmente. Pero no es solo hacia adentro también buscando una conexión superior, como sea que esta la entiendas. La salida es con esas direcciones con la mirada en uno y buscando la forma de conectarnos a un potencial superior. Que despierte en nosotros la salida creativa. Por que me guste o no lo, lo desee o no. Esto que estoy viviendo, y que hoy tiene tanta fuerza. Esto, también va a pasar.

Questo libro racconta la vicenda straordinaria di Maria Botchkareva "Yashka", una contadina cresciuta nel mondo della frontiera siberiana che allo scoppio della Grande Guerra chiese e ottenne di arruolarsi nell'esercito russo: non per essere una delle tante crocerossine, ma proprio per fare il soldato.Yashka combatté e si distinse in prima linea, tanto che dopo la rivoluzione del marzo 1917 il governo provvisorio di Kerenskij le consentì di armare un'unità combattente femminile che fece parlare di sé la stampa di tutto il mondo, e che si sottomise al massacro nell'ambito dell'ultima offensiva russa.Dopo il congedo dei resti del battaglione femminile e lo sbandamento di tutto l'esercito russo, Yashka riuscì a raggiungere l'Occidente con l'utopia di raccogliervi fondi per ricostituire un esercito popolare e continuare la guerra contro la Germania. Negli Stati Uniti, nel 1918, il suo racconto fu raccolto e pubblicato da un giornalista di origine russa, Isaac Don Levine.E' controverso se e in che modo la figura di Yashka appartenga alla vicenda dell'emancipazione femminile, come al tempo intese la stessa Emmeline Pankhurst, che di Yashka fu sostenitrice e amica. In realtà Yashka agì seguendo un istinto dì incondizionata e non negoziabile lealtà verso il suo paese, perché in questa lealtà trovava al tempo stesso il rispetto di sé e il riscatto dalle deprivazioni del suo vissuto. E raccontando diffusamente non solo i fatti, ma anche i propri sentimenti e le proprie motivazioni, Yashka ci ha lasciato una testimonianza che si eleva molto al di sopra della consueta memorialistica di guerra.Il racconto di Isaac Don Levine, caduto da tanto tempo nell'oblio, torna in vita in questo volume con un'introduzione di Stéphane Audoin-Rouzeau e Nicolas Werth che contestualizzano la vicenda con esattezza e discutono la figura di Yashka dal punto di vista dei ruoli di genere, estremamente rigidi nel contesto bellico tradizionale, e una postfazione di Alberto Palazzi che mette a fuoco la definizione di sé che Yashka cercava nell'impegno e nel sacrificio per il suo Paese.

Tra il 1716 e il 1720 John Law, avventuriero ed economista teorico, riuscì a persuadere il governo di Francia a fondare una banca dalle innumerevoli prerogative, che avrebbe risolto il problema del debito pubblico convertendolo nelle proprie azioni altamente fruttifere, avrebbe razionalizzato il sistema della percezione delle imposte, avrebbe dato un impulso mai visto prima alla crescita dell'economia, e infine avrebbe sfruttato per il meglio le ricchezze credute favolose della nuova colonia americana della Louisiana. Quando le circostanze della crisi del debito sovrano di Francia gli consentirono di sperimentare il suo modello sulla scala dell'intero sistema economico francese, l'esperimento fallì catastroficamente perché la realtà della situazione sotto diversi aspetti si rivelò più complessa di quanto il sistema teorico avesse saputo immaginare e prevedere. Ma, secondo l'interpretazione del Thiers, l'operazione di Law non era economicamente né insensata né insostenibile, e la storia di John Law non è quella di un'avventura o di una frode, ma è un capitolo della storia terribilmente seria del prezzo che si paga nella ricerca di soluzioni per la complessità dell'organizzazione della vita umana. Questo è ciò che Adolphe Thiers riconosce e ci racconta in questo libro, e che proprio dopo la sequenza di fallimenti bancari che abbiamo sperimentato negli anni recenti ci aiuta a capire le cose con distinzioni chiare, che invano cercheremmo nelle cronache dei nostri giorni.

Sono tante e contrastanti le espressioni con cui viene fatto riferimento della fede di Giorgio La Pira, da quelle che profeticamente lo qualificano come il "Sindaco Santo" (del quale del resto è in corso la causa di beatificazione), a quelle sarcastiche: il suo essere uomo di fede è stato spesso oggetto di ironia, non sempre a bassa voce, fino a suggerire che alcune decisioni epocali del primo cittadino di Firenze, come la requisizione di case e fabbriche in un'Italia orientata al liberismo, fossero costantemente precedute ed accompagnate dalla preghiera e dalla profonda convinzione di fare la volontà di Dio. Ebbene, pur essendo questa una nota di valore, di cui La Pira si sarebbe compiaciuto, e non di scherno, il libro dimostra, grazie a un lavoro di ricerca storica di atti e documenti che fino al momento della pubblicazione nel 1987 erano inediti, che La Pira requisiva con grande cognizione del diritto e delle istituzioni, tanto che le cause intentate contro le sue requisizioni non hanno mai avuto esito negativo per il Sindaco il quale, evidentemente, sapeva fare un buon uso laicamente razionale della legge.Oggi, a 35 anni dalla morte, mentre il mondo è attanagliato da una grave crisi economica, e la politica sembra perdere il senso dell'orientamento mostrando i limiti dell'assenza di un forte ancoraggio etico e di una visione strategica nel governo della res publica, impressiona la chiarezza di vedute e il convincimento che essere Sindaco della Gerusalemme d'Europa significasse dover svolgere una missione non solo per gli abitanti della città, ma per il mondo.

Il confronto/scontro tra Islam arabo e Occidente, così importante e mai sopito per tanti secoli, ha subito una notevole accelerazione dopo gli avvenimenti epocali dell'11 settembre 2001. Un'analisi comparativa ci rende conto del modo in cui questi otto autori hanno affrontato quelle problematiche, con l'ambizioso obiettivo di sollecitare uno sguardo critico sulle modalità e le categorie culturali implicite in cui i rapporti tra cultura islamica e occidentale vengono "presentati".
