""Lisa Monaghan is 31 years old and lives in Reading, Berkshire. She is a single parent to her beautiful Autistic son Ryan.Lisa's day to day life includes home schooling her son and campaigning for change in children's education and to make schools more inclusive for all children. She runs online support groups for ASD parents, as well as her work on mental health and positivity and enjoys taking part in various fundraising events. She also enjoys open water swimming, country walks and getting close to nature.Writing has always been a passion of Lisa's and writing poems is something she has enjoyed from a young age. She enjoyed studying English literature and getting lost in books.Lisa started writing non - fiction books but unfortunately had to put this to one side due to her health needs but she hopes to come back to them. She has found writing poems comes so naturally to her and has found it a good way to express how she is feeling.Lisa feels poems make the words dance and come to life and that poetry is like music, it can bring you comfort and peace in times of hardships. She writes poems for friends to make them laugh and has found it a great way to cheer someone up. She enjoys writing as it gives her an escape and a way to express herself and get lost in her writing.Lisa has a neurological condition which has affected her ability to write but she is a determined person who says never give up on your dreams. It's always been a dream of hers to have a book published. She also wants to prove that no matter how broken you may feel, how unwell you are- even with neurological conditions you can create something magical and achieve your dreams.Lisa wanted to create a book of poetry on the subjects that are still as she calls it ''kind of taboo'' and not spoken about openly enough. She hopes by publishing this book of poetry it will encourage people to open up, talk, educate and even bring comfort.Lisa feels if this book of poetry can help one person feel better or feel like they are not alone then it is worth it. She hopes it is a reminder to be #kind and hopefully bring everyone together once again.Lisa feels there is so much pain and suffering in the world and we do not need anymore and so lets talk, support and love one another. This book of poems is all about being yourself and loving yourself exactly how you are right now and for remembering all you have overcome, the hardships, battles and pain. But also encouraging positivity, courage and for remembering how unique, special and loved you are and celebrating being exactly perfectly you but also talking about those difficult subjects that are not spoken about openly enough and letting people know it is ok to speak up. Donations from every sale of this book will be given to the Samaritans and donation to improving mental health services for children which is a passion of hers and something she hold so close to her heart.""

Tilted Mirror is a collection of poems exploring self reflection and a shift in perception. It explores those moments we all might go through in our lives that can become turning points for us. Though there is an intended journey with these poems, they can be read in any order, depending on what it is you're looking for. The first poems in the collection are more of an introduction to the poet and contemplative, moving through chaos into poems on love, the significance of different people in your life and ending with poems meant to inspire and motivate, focused on overcoming struggle. I hope that there will be something to be found in this book for every reader that speaks to them.

""Grief walks with you minute by minute, then hour by hour, and maybe then day by day, or week by week. It turns up uninvited, and often leaves unexpectedly. It can be delayed, it can be compartmentalised, but at some point it must be confronted. If not it will begin to seep, into crevices, into good things, work, children, hobbies. It seeps and then it opens that part up of you like a gaping hole. Peace has to be made with grief. What grief takes, it can give. There is no grief without love. In addressing grief, we grow stronger, and we get to know ourselves better. We forge an appreciation for the deep love we experienced that led us to this pain. A fragment of what is lost stays with us, and it starts to grow. It guides us forward. But at 12 years old I ran from it, as fast as my chubby little legs could carry me, so the reckoning came many years later. After many years of running from her, and all of the exhaustion that was involved, Grief, in all of her persistence, was able to teach me many lessons. So many times, I have taken solace in the words of others who have walked the grief journey before me. In this book, I share with you the deepest conversations I have had with my grief, in the hope that they may connect with you, so you know you are not alone. They are concise but powerful words you can refer to again and again.""

It reveals deep darkness in which dwell sorrow, loneliness, and pain, as well as utter suffering and inner turmoil. However, that is not where the journey ends. Jesus enters; and, so too, do His grace, mercy and love. His glory called out that which was shrouded in darkness into a place where light illuminates the path for the journey forward into transformation.

  • av Pallavi Parihar
    159,-

There's a beauty in a poem's ability to truly capture the essence of what we think and feel, which our everyday life can seemingly fall short of. Sometimes, it is in reading a beautifully penned rhyme that we can suddenly understand our innermost workings, stirring-up an emotion we did not know we were capable of feeling. And sometimes it allows us to connect, realising that what we feel is shared; allowing us to feel seen, heard, and understood by another. Real life may not rhyme, but in this book you will find a humble reflection of our often tumultuous emotions in lyrical form.
