Knowing they'd never read it or that they didn't even exist was relieving, in a way, and most if not all of the poems in this book are based on no experience of my own. Regardless, I have always been talking to somebody.Poetry to me has always been about getting your feelings across in a way that doesn't need to be entirely relatable or understood so long as it's heard. A simpler, more personalised way of tackling love and death, which are things people manage to always be talking about and talking around at the same time.I have spent a long time attempting to articulate my feelings in a way that is easy to understand for a neurotypical world. None of these poems will be understood by you reading them exactly the way they were by me writing them. Although uncomfortable for some, that reality is the essence of poetry to me. I've never felt better understood than when writing things knowing that would never be the outcome.You're not expected to understand my thoughts. I do, though, hope you enjoy at least one.""

Let's say you're waiting at the bus stop, or it's time to take a thirty-minute break; you gaze over at another individual, and your mind starts to wander. Based on an individual's mannerisms and outfit choices, you begin to picture their life and imagine what choices they might've made. You slowly observe but never say anything as you are content with the image you've conjured up in your mind. Or maybe you don't like talking to people; your social battery has run out, could be a multitude of reasons. However, my curiosity gets the better of me, and I have to talk to people, so my conversations inspire some of the poems written here with people from different walks of life.

These poems were written as a result of an accumulation of events in life. Touching on topics of love, loss, grief, and inner demons, the things I have failed to explain are here on these pages.

This is a book of poems about all types of things I think we all experience, but don't quite know how to talk about.

Staying temporarily or living permanently in a foreign country may not always be an easy time. This book includes my few times of wander when studying, working, and traveling abroad. It could be considered as a self-reminder on the overseas journey, particularly when someday we could feel a little lonely, a little sad, or a little lost.

Lockdown forced me to look inwards at a time when no-one could get out. It was a time full of snacks and home-learning and masks and sporadic shopping trips and careful shopping lists. It was a time of the unknown and shouting and tears and hugs and fears. It was also a time of lego bricks and pyjama days and PE With Joe and rainy walks and hot chocolate. Some time ago, when I was reeling from a terrible, scary heartbreak, I found solace in poetry. I hope my words would bring comfort to whosoever needs it whenever. As someone who found the strength to fight through depression by surrendering herself to the soft and sensitive hands of poetry, I believe there couldn't be a better time to share this with the rest of the world.
