Aluminum extrusion finds extensive application in the construction, automobile and aerospace industries. Because of high pressures, elevated temperatures, complicated section geometries, and repeated mechanical and thermal stresses in the die and affiliated tooling, the process is quite complex. Process aberrations and tooling related problems directly contribute to extrusion defects and affect product quality. This monograph is based on a comprehensive investigation of the entire operation: deformation process, dies and tooling, and product defects. Following aspects of aluminum extrusion are discussed in detail: variation of extrusion pressure and its relationship to profile complexity; metal flow through the deformation chamber; modes and mechanisms of die failure; probabilistic study of die life and complexity; fracture toughness evaluation of die materials; simulation-based scheme for prediction of die life; defect morphology, mechanisms, and remedial measures; and statistical analysis of product defects in a typical large-size aluminum extrusion plant.
Preparing a new comprehensive work on dustywings became necessary, as more than half of the known coniopterygid species were described after the last monograph of this family. Present work gives a check-list of all of the valide living species of Coniopterygidae (Insecta: Neuroptera), as well as entirely new identification keys for the satisfactorily known species, for the species groups and the supraspecific taxa of the family. The check-list contains data about the geographical distribution of the species and taxonomic groups, and in some cases taxonomic or nomenclatural remarks. For convenient use of the identification keys a number of figures are given. The subdivision of some larger genera and subgenera is modified also. This monograph shuld be useful for insect taxonomists and for entomologists interested in researches on agroecosystems.
Over the last years the online trade is growing rapidly. Web stores are selling more and more goods and the principles of merchandising are finding new soil for further development. We are witnessing an online technological boom of web stores and especially the techniques and elements of presenting goods in an online environment. This technological development is giving birth to a new scientific branch which we call Online Visual Merchandising. This book provides an in-depth study of apparel online stores, focusing on three goals: identification and systematization of online visual merchandising elements (OVME) of apparel web stores; classification of apparel web stores from the point of view of OVME, and finally ¿ optimizing the OVME for a specific target group. This book is one of the first steps towards the building of a sound scientific ¿groundwork¿ of the theory of Online Visual Merchandising. It could be very useful for online shop managers/owners, internet marketing consultants, web designers, marketing specialists, advertising creative personnel, and marketing students.
Quality issues & challenges in hotels. The literature review indicates that the quality of service is a major issue for hotel businesses and has strategic and managerial implications. Quality has become a key-integrating concept, linking corporate strategy, marketing and operations management to customer needs and satisfaction. Providing quality service for any hotel operation is a complex task but one that can bring great advantages in the fields of profitability and competitiveness. Developing quality strategy in a hotel operation means a fundamental change in the way the firm operates. The main aim of the present study is to address and discuss the various issues and challenges of service quality in the hotel industry. The study highlights the quality service issues and challenges, and provides explanations of theoretical concepts and their practical applications. It is a study which offers a useful summary of the literature on service quality in the hotel context and some insights into business practices.
Environmental Governance is considered as one of the priority actions for achieving environmental sustainability. Similarly, Diplomacy deals with negotiating, consensus-building and resolving the conflicts of Issues. We are familiar with the local environmental issues and we try to reduce the adverse environmental effects. However at the international level, we do not have much knowledge on what steps have been undertaken by the international community in order to address the international effects. Several conventions, treaties, protocols and agreements have been endorsed. Our activity that destroys the nature has lots of international environmental implications. Therefore, it is essential to understand the underlying concept of the arts and sciences of environmental governance and diplomacy by an array of the actors.
This work which has been a multiple-patent-product commercialized mainly in 50 states of USA, with millions of dollars yearly-income, was done in Japan at Nagoya University, 1983-1989. The research was during the period of the Japanese Fifth Generation Computer Project (FGCP), in which an overwhelming desire of building Intelligent Systems was dominant allover Japan. It includes off-line signature: preprocessing, High Pressure Regions extraction, feature extraction and selection, conceptual description, and intelligent verification and analysis. The scientific achievements during the multistage development period between 1989 and the first patent in 2002 are covered. Some key clues to essential problems in actual ASV systems are also introduced. Important details with very rich experimental results and discussions are presented. A chapter covering functions, detailed structure, practical considerations and operation of the intelligent ASV system, (self-learning with dynamic-knowledge-base and meta-knowledge), is included. This book is valuable for those working with Automatic Signature Verification (ASV), forgery detection, document examination and Intelligent Systems.
