A comparative study of the two nutrients solution recipes in different strengths(Full and Half) for growing various vegetables in a non-circulating hydroponics system¿ was conducted at NWFP Agricultural University Peshawar, Pakistan, during the spring and fall seasons of 2006.The objectives of the study were to promote the activity of clean gardening/ urban home gardening for the landless city dwellers through the adoption of non-circulating hydroponics technology for growing fresh vegetables in their cemented court yards, verandas or the cemented rooftops. The results indicated that Cooper¿s 1988 solution recipe remained better than the Imai's 1987 solution recipe for almost all crops(Cucumber,Tomato, lettuce and spinach) because of an ease in keeping the pH and EC of the solution with in the optimum range when prepared with the ordinary tap water.
The present study is an "open randomized controlled trial" using single low dose (25 µg) misoprostol vaginally as an intervention in study group at 40 weeks of gestation in uncomplicated singleton pregnancies to prevent prolonged pregnancy with control group receiving no intervention. The study and control groups showed significant difference in number of women entering labor within 1 week of enrolment. Induction was needed in only 7.7% (5/65) of women in the study group, whereas in the control group, induction was required in 27.7% (18/65) of women. Mean duration from enrolment in study till delivery was 1.33±2.03 days in study group and 4.98±2.74 days in control group. Cesarean section was required in 13.9% (9/65) and 15.4% (10/65) in study and control groups respectively. Women in study group did not have any side effects. Mean birth weight, meconium stained liquor rate, NICU admission rate and neonatal morbidity were found to be comparable in both the groups. No neonatal or perinatal mortality was observed in either group.
Significant shifts have occurred in the management of Australian state museums since the 1980s. This is due to the confluence of new public sector management trends within the organisations and the impact of new museology. Museums in Australia in the 21st century are at a cross-roads, subject to a number of external and internal pressures that are impacting upon their provision and type of services, changing purpose, new social and economic roles and management style and focus. This book investigates and analyses shifts in the management of Australian state museums since the 1980s. How have museums, as public sector organisations, adapted and changed their management practices since the 1980s? How and why are museums responding to these challenges through the introduction of new strategies and a redefinition of their roles and purposes? This analysis highlights some of the key factors in the changing management practices of Australian museums. It is an important and thought provoking text for museum managers and professionals in the museums and public sector management fields.
