This book takes the industry beyond mere definitions of cloud computing and virtualization, grid and sustainability strategies, to casting them in day-to-day operations. In Cloud Computing and Virtualization, the authors take the reader from beginning to end with the essential elements of cloud computing, its history, innovation, and demands. Through case studies and architectural models, they articulate service requirements, infrastructure, security, and outsourcing of salient computing resources. The adoption of virtualization in data centers creates the need for a new class of networks designed to support elasticity of resource allocation, increasing mobile workloads and the shift to production of virtual workloads, requiring maximum availability. Building a network that spans both physical servers and virtual machines with consistent capabilities demands a new architectural approach to designing and building the IT infrastructure. Performance, elasticity, and logical addressing structures must be considered as well as the management of the physical and virtual networking infrastructure. Once deployed, a network that is virtualization-ready can offer many revolutionary services over a common shared infrastructure. With virtualization, comes elasticity where computer capacity can be scaled up or down on demand by adjusting the number of virtual machines actively executing on a given physical server. Additionally, virtual machines can be migrated while in service from one physical server to another. Extending this further, virtualization creates "location freedom" enabling virtual machines to become portable across an ever-increasing geographical distance. Audience Computer scientists in academia and industry working on cloud computing. No matter the level of interest or experience, the reader will find clear value in this in-depth, vendor-neutral study of cloud computing and virtualization.
This manual is applicable to any product manufacturing environment and enables passing government, commercial and ISO standards/specifications. Engineering Documentation Control -- sometimes called Configuration Management or Product Lifecycle Management -- is a key ingredient to world-class product manufacturing. In order to achieve best-in-class CM it is necessary to document what you do, do what you document and, preferably, continuously improve what you do. With this manual, companies can bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing. While there are many commercial, military and agency standards, this manual is directed at how to achieve best-in-class processes which are "make sense," fast, accurate, efficient, effective, measured and well understood. With this manual, you have the best of the best management practices for the configuration management processes. They also go a long way toward satisfying Total Quality Management, FDA, GMP, Lean CM and ISO/QS/AS 9XXX process documentation requirements. The one requirement common to all those standards is to document the processes and to do what you document. Audience This Standards Manual will be used by industrial engineers, designers, draftsmen, release?& change processors, document control, production control, master schedulers, and management people in all manufacturing areas.

With climate change, erosion, and human encroachment on coastal environments growing all over the world, it is increasingly important to protect populations and environments close to the sea from storms, tsunamis, and other events that can be not just costly to property but deadly. This book is one step in bringing the science of protection from these events forward, the most in-depth study of its kind ever published. The analytic and numerical modeling problems of nonlinear wave activities in shallow water are analyzed in this work. Using the author's unique method described herein, the equations of shallow water are solved, and asymmetries that cannot be described by the Stokes theory are solved. Based on analytical expressions, the impacts of dispersion effects to wave profiles transformation are taken into account. The 3D models of the distribution and refraction of nonlinear surface gravity wave at the various coast formations are introduced, as well. The work covers the problems of numerical simulation of the run-up of nonlinear surface gravity waves in shallow water, transformation of the surface waves for the 1D case, and models for the refraction of numerical modeling of the run-up of nonlinear surface gravity waves at beach approach of various slopes. 2D and 3D modeling of nonlinear surface gravity waves are based on Navier-Stokes equations. In 2D modeling the influence of the bottom of the coastal zone on flooding of the coastal zone during storm surges was investigated. Various stages of the run-up of nonlinear surface gravity waves are introduced and analyzed. The 3D modeling process of the run-up is tested for the coast protection work of the slope type construction. Useful for students and veteran engineers and scientists alike, this is the only book covering these important issues facing anyone working with coastal models and ocean, coastal, and civil engineering in this area.
