This edited book examines current methods for the statistical analysis of hypotheses that are compatible with direction dependence. The proposed book is divided in four parts, each consisting of two or more chapters, for a total of 14 chapters. The first part of this book introduces the fundamental concepts of direction dependence in statistical models. The authors provide a historical view on the origins of studying the direction of dependence in a regression line. Various classes of copulas with directional dependence properties are introduced. In addition, an introduction into copula regression functions and concomitants of order statistics in directional dependence modeling is given. Part II of the proposed book is devoted to recent developments and advances in direction dependence modeling of continuous variables and contains six chapters. The author demonstrates the benefits of incorporating concepts of direction dependence to identify causal models. Part III of the proposed volume introduces direction dependence methods for the categorical variable case. Finally, Part IV of the proposed book is devoted to substantive theory and real-world applications and consists of four chapters. The author introduces custom dialogs and macros in SPSS to make direction dependence analysis accessible to applied empirical researchers.

How the marriage of Industry 4.0 and the Circular Economy can radically transform waste management--and our worldDo we really have to make a choice between a wasteless and nonproductive world or a wasteful and ultimately self-destructive one? Futurist and world-renowned waste management scientist Antonis Mavropoulos and sustainable business developer and digital strategist Anders Nilsen respond with a ringing and optimistic "No!" They explore the Earth-changing potential of a happy (and wasteless) marriage between Industry 4.0 and a Circular Economy that could--with properly reshaped waste management practices--deliver transformative environmental, health, and societal benefits. This book is about the possibility of a brand-new world and the challenges to achieve it.The fourth industrial revolution has given us innovations including robotics, artificial intelligence, 3D-printing, and biotech. By using these technologies to advance the Circular Economy--where industry produces more durable materials and runs on its own byproducts--the waste management industry will become a central element of a more sustainable world and can ensure its own, but well beyond business as usual, future. Mavropoulos and Nilsen look at how this can be achieved--a wasteless world will require more waste management--and examine obstacles and opportunities such as demographics, urbanization, global warming, and the environmental strain caused by the rise of the global middle class.* Explore the new prevention, reduction, and elimination methods transforming waste management* Comprehend and capitalize on the business implications for the sector* Understand the theory via practical examples and case studies* Appreciate the social benefits of the new approachWaste-management has always been vital for the protection of health and the environment. Now it can become a crucial role model in showing how Industry 4.0 and the Circular Economy can converge to ensure flourishing, sustainable--and much brighter--future.
Do you remember being "in the trenches" as a salesperson? What did you think of your sales manager? If you're like many front-line sellers, you probably didn't think she or he was a wonderful example of leadership who could inspire you to do your best in life and in work. The unfortunate truth is that many sales managers--well-meaning though they usually are--lack the skills and know-how to help their sales teams grow and achieve greater success.Over a combined 50 years of experience as salespeople, managers, coaches, and executives, authors Steve Johnson and Matthew Hawk have witnessed the do's and don'ts of top performing sales teams. Next Level Sales Coaching is the culmination of their experience. In this book, they distill what they have learned working with organizations like Google, Bank of America, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and many more. The result is a compendium of best sales coaching practices with the power to make any sales manager into an inspirational and transformational leader. At its heart, this book is about how to integrate a person-centered development mindset into sales environments. Readers will work through practical examples, including a self-assessment, to identify the best way to implement strong coaching programs within their organizations. Each chapter concludes with takeaway questions and tips that sales leaders can use right away. From goal setting to daily sales huddles, and sales development training to analytics, Next Level Sales Coaching covers the best practices that readers will want to implement to take sales management to the next level.

What if everything you've learned about inflation is wrong? The Inflation Myth and the Wonderful World of Deflation illustrates our rapidly changing world where constant technological innovation leads to cheaper and better products. These changes are no longer reflected in the ways we measure inflation. Renowned investor and author Mark Mobius persuasively argues that what we believe to know about inflation today does not reflect the reality any longer. It is a myth, a legend, a fable, and, yes, a falsehood for a number of reasons. The Inflation Myth and the Wonderful World of Deflation tackles a number of fascinating topics, including:* The political nature of inflation measurement where governments manipulate and exploit inflation numbers to fit their economic programs* The extreme difficulty involved in gathering accurate data to measure inflation and the resulting inaccuracy of those measures* The error of using currencies to measure inflation when those currencies are continually being debased by the governments who issue them* Finally, and most importantly, the advances in technology and automation which are leading to continuously falling costs for goods and servicesPerfect for anyone with even a passing interest in macroeconomic phenomena or government policies, which are significantly impacting people's everyday lives around the world, The Inflation Myth and the Wonderful World of Deflation provides a remarkably compelling and provocative view of stunning originality.

Money Games is a riveting tale of one of the most successful buyout deals ever: the acquisition and turnaround of what used to be Korea's largest bank by the American firm Newbridge Capital.Full of intrigue and suspense, this insider's account is told by the chief architect of the deal itself, the celebrated author and private equity investor Weijian Shan. With billions of dollars at stake, and the nation's economic future on the line, Newbridge Capital sought to become the first foreign firm in history to take control of one of Korea's most beloved financial institutions. In a proud country still reeling from a humiliating International Monetary Fund bailout in the Asian Financial Crisis, Newbridge Capital had to muster every ounce of skill, determination, and patience to bring the deal to closing.Shan takes readers inside the battle to win control of the bank--a delicate, often exasperating process that meant balancing the goals of Newbridge with those of the government, bank employees, and Korea's powerful industrial titans. Finally, the author describes how Newbridge transformed and rebuilt the struggling bank into a shining example of modern banking--as well as a massively profitable investment. In the secret world of private equity, few buyouts have been written about with such clarity, detail, and insight--and none with such completeness, covering not only the dealmaking but also the transformation and eventual exit of the investment. For anyone who has ever wondered how private equity investors strike bargains, turn around businesses, and create immense value--or anyone interested in a captivating story of high-stakes money-making--this book is a must-read.
