A comprehensive review of stress signaling in plants using genomics and functional genomic approachesImproving agricultural production and meeting the needs of a rapidly growing global population requires crop systems capable of overcoming environmental stresses. Understanding the role of different signaling components in plant stress regulation is vital to developing crops which can withstand abiotic and biotic stresses without loss of crop yield and productivity. Emphasizing genomics and functional genomic approaches, Protein Kinases and Stress Signaling in Plants is a comprehensive review of cutting-edge research on stress perception, signal transduction, and stress response generation.Detailed chapters cover a broad range of topics central to improving agricultural production developing crop systems capable of overcoming environmental stresses to meet the needs of a rapidly growing global population. This book describes the field of protein kinases and stress signaling with a special emphasis on functional genomics. It presents a highly valuable contribution in the field of stress perception, signal transduction and generation of responses against one or multiple stress signals. This timely resource:* Summarizes the role of various kinases involved in stress management* Enumerates the role of TOR, GSK3-like kinase, SnRK kinases in different physiological conditions* Examines mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) in different stresses* Describes the different aspects of calcium signaling under different stress conditions* Examines photo-activated kinases (PAPKs) in varying light conditions* Briefs the presence of tyrosine kinases in plants* Highlights the cellular functions of receptor?]like protein kinases (RLKs)* Possible implication of these kinases in developing stress tolerant cropsProtein Kinases and Stress Signaling in Plants: Functional Genomic Perspective is an essential resource for researchers and students in the fields of plant molecular biology and signal transduction, plant responses to stress, plant cell signaling, plant protein kinases, plant biotechnology, transgenic plants and stress biology.

TRANSCATHETER MITRAL VALVE THERAPIES An essential survey of the advancing field of transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacementMinimally invasive transcatheter therapies have revolutionized the treatment of structural heart disease. Greatly improving outcomes for higher-risk patients, transcatheter aortic valve replacement is now established as a safe and effective alternative to invasive surgery. The mitral valve, however, poses further challenges. Contending with one of the heat s most anatomically and pathologically complex components, practitioners and engineers have yet to perfect a stream-lined, widely deliverable therapy though they are getting closer and closer to this goal.Transcatheter Mitral Valve Therapies provides a far-reaching survey of the field of mitral interventions in its current state. Highlighting the stumbling blocks preventing transcatheter mitral valve replacement s widespread adoption, the book s international group of contributors discuss the improvements to be made in repair and replacement procedures, as well as the adjunctive use of imaging and pharmacologic therapies. This ground-breaking text:Provides detailed explanations of transcatheter repair, transcatheter replacement, and adjunctive proceduresFeatures chapters on the use of imaging to aid in patient selection, procedure planning, and intra-operative guidanceDiscusses the importance of minimally invasive approaches for mitral valve repairExamines anticoagulation following transcatheter mitral valve interventionsOutlines the possible future of transcatheter mitral valve therapyTranscatheter Mitral Valve Therapies is an important, up-to-date resource for interventional cardiologists, as well as all clinical researchers and practitioners seeking information on this vital and developing treatment.

Blood and Marrow Transplantation Long Term ManagementHematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) provides curative therapy for a variety of diseases. Over the past several decades, significant advances have been made in the field of HCT, to the point where HCT has become an integral part of treatment modality for a variety of hematologic malignancies and some nonmalignant diseases. HCT remains an important treatment option for a wide variety of hematologic and nonhematologic disorders, despite recent advances in the field of immunologic therapies. Factors driving this growth include expanded disease indications, greater donor options (expanding unrelated donor registries and haploidentical HCT), and accommodation of older and less fit recipients. The development of less toxic pretransplant conditioning regimens, more effective prophylaxis of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), improved infection control, and other advances in transplant technology have resulted in a rapidly growing number of transplant recipients surviving long-term free of the disease for which they were transplanted. The changes over decades in the transplant recipient population and in the practice of HCT will have almost inevitably altered the composition of the long-term survivor population over time. Apart from an increasingly older transplant recipient cohort, the pattern of transplant indications has shifted from the 1990s when chronic myeloid leukemia made up a significant proportion of allo-HCT indications. Changes in cell source, donor types, conditioning regimens, GVHD prophylaxis, and supportive care have all occurred, with ongoing reductions in both relapse and non-relapse mortality (NRM) have been demonstrated. These patients have increased risks for a variety of late complications, which can cause morbidity and mortality. Most long-term survivors return to the care of their local hematologists/oncologists or primary care physicians, who may not be familiar with specialized monitoring and management of long complications after HCT for this patient population. As HCT survivorship increases, the focus of care has shifted to the identification and treatment of long-term complications that may affect quality of life and long-term morbidity and mortality.Preventive care as well as early detection and treatments are important aspects to reducing morbidity and mortality in long-term survivors after allo-HCT. This second edition, Blood and Marrow Transplantation Long Term Management: Survivorship after Transplant, provides up-to-date information about diagnosis, screening, treatment, and long-term surveillance of long-term survivors after HCT.
