We live in uncertain times, and to engage in the world to serve the welfare of others requires great courage and dedication. In Buddhism, a bodhisattva is one whose life is dedicated to awaken in the service of others. A bodhisattva's intention of bodhicitta, the awakening mind, is rooted in compassion, love and the courage to live in a challenging world, transforming adversity into the path of awakening. In Heart Essence, Rob Preece brings a fresh enquiry into the qualities that support a bodhisattva's journey, including many of the psychological challenges encountered in the process of awakening. He draws on his years of experience both as a psychotherapist and a tantric practitioner to explore what needs to be cultivated to enhance the qualities of bodhicitta and also how we can embody these in our lives. This will be of value to those who aspire - particularly as tantric practitioners - to the life of a bodhisattva.

Practical Proverbs for the Older Student is a semester course for high school credit in Bible or Life Management. Colleges recognize this class as an elective. By adding some recommended reading, it can count as a full credit. Practical Proverbs for the Older Student is 80 lessons taken from Proverbs, then confirmed through the rest of Scripture. This book offers practical biblical solutions to high school and college age students. Life skills such as work, money, pride, choices and consequences, alcohol, drugs, food, anger management and more are covered in depth with illustrations and personal stories. Answer keys are available. Dara has taught 15 minute introductory lessons for this course online. Email Dara at dara@abidingtruthministry.com for the links. This Bible study is available in KJV and NASB. Each lesson is, on average, two pages of a workbook with specific and meaningful fill in the blanks or write and answer questions. The student then takes the lesson to a parent or mentor for discussion questions. These can also be written out in a diary. Students testify that this format has helped them to have a better relationship with their parents as they discuss family beliefs, habits, expectations, and disagreements. Dara Halydier will step through the first nine chapters of Proverbs with your student teaching definitions such as discernment, discretion, wisdom, instruction, and foolishness. She gives background information on David as he learned about repentance and Solomon as a man with a single vision, his sin, and his repentance. The student will then begin a chart comparing the characteristics and results of wisdom to the characteristics and results of foolishness. Other topics in the first 40 lessons include, pride/humility, honor/dishonor, living a righteous life in our culture, the Roman's Road to Salvation, characteristics of a biblical fool and a biblical wiseman, trust/fear, grace/mercy, discipline, guarding your heart, contentment, sin, our old nature, our new nature, shame, renewing the mind, and others. Jesus is the personification of Wisdom. Wisdom is the very character of God. We must read God's word to learn about God and ourselves. The second half of Practical Proverbs for the Older Student covers Proverbs 10-31 with topics such as God and food, God and our bodies, drugs/alcohol, parents, money, setting up a budget, suffering, greed, giving, work habits, work ethic, welfare, planning, and diligence. It covers the words of our mouths, rage, anger, proper placement of emotions in a Christian's life, forgiveness, love, courtship, marriage, godliness, the characteristics of a goldy man and woman, the contentious woman, and the Proverbs 31 woman. It ends with a study of the names of God and which names have become experienced and relevant to the student.

RIVAL CAESARS - A Romance of Ambition, Love and War.Being the tale of a Vice-President, a Major-General and three brilliant and beautiful women. For the initiated "a recruiting tool for revolutionary dreams."By Desmond DilgThe author says in an introductory note; "From original documents preserved from utter destruction in a very remarkable manner this book has been written. The discovery of these documents (withered and tattered and mouldy with age and damp) is in itself a strange and tragic story. Someday it shall be related."This mysterious document, it is elsewhere stated, makes the revelation that Theodosia Alston, Aaron Burr's daughter, did not perish by shipwreck, as is generally supposed, but lived many years afterwards in Cuba. There has of recent years been new documentary evidence brought to light from Spanish sources touching on the alleged conspiracy for which Burr was tried at Richmond, but the ancient papers which this Chicago romanticist mentions are, of course, imaginary. With their aid, however, he has managed to weave an interesting, though necessarily fanciful, story, in which Burr and Hamilton are the principal characters, the latter showing to the best advantage. The story begins in the colonial days, when Burr and Hamilton were both young men in New York and continue until after the fatal duel. It is supposed that both the "Rival Caesars" were members of a secret organization known as "The Iron Cross," and in this way, as well as in some other respects, the story is given suggestion of the weird and occult. The author (the Chicago romanticist) Desmond Dilg, is in fact a pseudonym for Arthur Desmond (1859-1929) and Will H. Dilg (1867-1927) who collaborated in writing Rival Caesars.Arthur Desmond most famous for being the author of Might is Right, (1896) which he wrote under his nom de guerre Ragnar Redbeard. Will H. Dilg (1867-1927) was one of the 54 founders of the Izaak Walton League and served as the organization's first national president. Dilg wrote articles for "Outdoor America. Defenders of the Woods, Waters and Wild Life, " and the book "Tragic Fishing Moments."
