Nell'officina del dizionarioIn a dictionary workshop Questo volume raccoglie gli atti del convegno organizzato dall'Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Lussemburgo, nel giugno 2006 sui dizionari, e contiene interessanti contributi originali su vari aspetti della lessicografia odierna. Le prime cinque comunicazioni vertono su vocabolari bilingui che abbinano italiano e lussemburghese (M. L. Caldognetto), polacco (E. Jamrozik), svedese (J. Nystedt), neerlandese (S. Vanvolsem), e sul lavoro collettivo per preparare vocabolari bilingui tascabili per lussemburghesi non nativi (J. Christophory). Le cinque comunicazioni successive sono dedicate a vari aspetti del lessico italiano (T. De Mauro, S. Ferreri, G. e L. Lepschy, M. Pfister, F. Sabatini). L'undicesima presenta il grande Oxford English Dic-tionary (J. Simpson). This volume contains the proceedings of the conference organized in June 2006 by the Italian Cultural Institute in Luxembourg. It offers original con-tributions on various aspects of contemporary lexicography. The first five papers concentrate on bilingual dictionaries, linking Italian to Luxem-burgish (M.L. Caldognetto), Polish (E. Jamrozik), Swedish (J. Nystedt), Netherlandish (S. Vanvolsem) and on the collective work leading to bilin-gual pocket dictionaries for non-native Luxembourgers (J. Cristophory). The next five are devoted to various aspects of Italian lexis (T. De Mauro, S. Ferreri, G. and L. Lepschy, M. Pfister and F. Sabatini), and the final pa-per concentrates on the renowned Oxford English Dictionary (J. Simpson).

Auch 75 Jahre nach der Machtergreifung Hitlers dauert die Auseinandersetzung mit der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus und der Judenverfolgung in Europa an. So sehr in den letzten Jahrzehnten über das Thema 'Judenverfolgung' gearbeitet wurde, muss dennoch bis heute festgestellt werden, dass noch immer zahlreiche Probleme unbearbeitet und offen sind. In seinem komparatistisch angelegten Buch untersucht Thomas Loy, welche Auswirkungen die unterschiedlichen antisemitischen Strömungen in Deutschland und Frankreich am Vorabend des 20. Jahrhunderts auf die Haltung der katholischen Bischöfe in beiden Ländern hatten. Er analysiert das Verhalten der Amtskirche und ihrer Oberhirten angesichts der Verfolgung und Ermordung so vieler Unschuldiger und ordnet es in den politischen und soziostrukturellen Kontext ein. Dabei erweitert er den Blick über Deutschland hinaus auf das zweigeteilte Frankreich mit dem Vichy-Regime und der deutschen Besatzung. Darüber hinaus setzt er sich nicht nur mit der Forschung des deutschsprachigen Raumes auseinander, sondern vermittelt zudem wichtige Ergebnisse aus der französischen Literatur, die hierzulande bisher leider nur selten rezipiert worden ist.

The protection of minorities in Bulgaria presents a paradox. Although minority protection played a prominent role in the accession of the country to the European Union, hardly any positive minority rights were adopted in post-communist Bulgaria. Apart from the reversal of communist assimilation campaigns, only limited progress has been made in the area of minority protection. Positive minority rights have remained very restricted, some minorities, notably Pomaks and Macedonians, have been denied recognition, and the formal adoption of legislation or policy documents has often not been followed by implementation.By charting minority rights policies in Bulgaria in the period between 1989 and 2004, this study clarifies the main reasons for the limited progress in the post-communist period. While, in contrast to some other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, minority "kin-states" did not play a major role in post-communist Bulgaria, the European Union and the Council of Europe were instrumental in putting minority questions on the agenda of Bulgarian governments. However, their impact was smaller than much of the literature on enlargement and conditionality would suggest. Domestic factors were crucial in shaping minority rights policies in post-communist Bulgaria. Of particular importance was the communist legacy, which acted as a brake on the development of minority rights.

Trans-border trade in agricultural goods still faces immense hurdles at the beginning of the 21st century. The USA and the EU, for example, have been protecting their markets through domestic support, export subsidies and various barriers to market access. They have thus prevented many developing countries from exporting agricultural goods in which they have a comparative advantage to them. As a result, developing countries have demanded that the ninth round of negotiations at the World Trade Organization resolves the issue of agricultural protection. Gabriel Ngwe reviews the agricultural policy of the USA, the EC and the G20 prior to 2001 and discusses the evolving of negotiations from 2001 to 2006. He further explains which parties played which role in the negotiations. Furthermore, he proposes solutions how to overcome the stalemate.
