Long ago, I lived alone in my mountain shanty beside my lake in Maine. The lake provided fish. The forest provided small game and berries. I had my books. I had solitude. I avoided contact with the outside world in Bar Harbor except as I needed food, clothing, some few tools, and more books...all of which I borrowed from those in the town. Eventually, each of the books was returned.I didn't dislike people. I just did not need or want their company. At eighteen, I was a hermit and happy to be so. My life was simple and uncomplicated by the needs of others or of the outside world. I spent each day absorbed in the wonders of the wildlife and of nature around me and the world of my books. It was enough for me. I was in control as much as the forest and weather around me would allow. It all changed in a single day. I was caught borrowing food from the market. I had a possibles sack with me that contained two books that I "borrowed" from the library. There was also a pair of boots that I "borrowed" from the general store. The constable and his deputy took me to the dock and placed me on the whaling ship that waited there. There was no discussion. There were no questions from the first mate. They locked me in the hold. I raged. I cried. I begged. No one cared. That was my life until the day the Watcher arrived on the ship. My life changed in ten seconds. I began the journey to become what I am now. This journal records that journey of 116 years. The journey has just begun. I am not now what I have been or what I have yet to become.

This is a story about my mom's journey with Alzheimer's and my role as a caregiver. Although I graduated from nursing school and became a nurse practitioner, nothing prepared me for this role! We had many challenges and struggles along the way. Not just my mom, but also me! I have written the story but also have added special sections for caregivers to learn along the way. It offers tips on providing care for various issues such as behavior issues, sleeping issues, eating problems, depression, taking care of bed-bound parents, etc., and also taking care of yourself while caregiving. Caregiving is very hard work! Women who care for Alzheimer's patients are at an increased risk for developing Alzheimer's themselves. Two-thirds of Alzheimer's patients are women! If a wife's husband gets Alzheimer's and she takes care of him, she is at a six times greater risk to develop Alzheimer's herself. I have also included resources for caregivers to find help.

Reflections on a Father and a Son is a journey that at times is gut wrenching while at other moments pause worthy. As a five year old enduring painful spinal taps in a Polio Ward to an adolescent experimenting with epic classroom disruptions, this collection of deeds maligned by misdeeds appears to have only one possible outcome: reform school.Readers witness how growing up in the 1950s and 60s was negotiated in small towns with even smaller margins of supervision. Travel along route 9 from Stottville to Rouses Point, a micro village tucked away innocently in the northeast corner of the Lake Champlain Valley basin of New York State. The early years in the Hudson Valley involve tales of exploration, cruelty, and friendship. After moving just south of the Canadian border, the adventures take on a downward spiral. Crawl through collapsed tunnels in a 19th century deserted fort, rummage the contents of railroad cars for cigarettes or discover how to survive multiple school suspensions. The odyssey intensifies as consistent threads weave through a contentious relationship between father and son. Their bond is buttressed by an ever increasing repertoire of senseless acts bent on destroying all possibilities of post-high school success. Save for one prescient and observant English teacher, a fruitful future would have been squandered. Participate in the transformation of a non-compliant teenager to a tremulous college applicant; the result of one teacher believing in one outlier.

Exotic dancing is a popular industry and can be an easy way to earn quick cash. My goal is to educate people on what it all entails by sharing my story.I talk about my firsthand experience, customers, the condition of the clubs, how owners and most of the staff treat the dancers, and how dancers are treated outside of the club, if they are truthful about what they do for a living. My experience goes from how I started dancing to what made me hang up my stilettos for good.I also talk about my daughter's experience as a dancer a few years after I quit, and you will see that things have not improved. I think it is time to expose this to the rest of the world so people will quit blaming the dancers for their choice of career and make them human again.

The book is about love and someone going through mental health issues, how she views someone she loves, and how she views herself. Most of the poems are written to describe their love for a person or to have some form of putting her thoughts out there. Some are dark poems, and some are love poems, so if you like poems, love, or have mental health issues, you will most likely relate to the book. Some poems are interesting in a way that can make you appreciate nature.
