The genesis of Real Men Wear PINK evolved at the end of a five-year estrangement from my brother Pink McCaskell Jr. After serving time at Mason County Jail in Michigan, Pink returned home with hopes of leaving his past behind to embark on uncharted territory. Pink's journey would begin with unconventional access to college. Ironically, two brothers'- "the thug" and "the scholar- paths crossed on a college campus. Though I was the scholar, he became my professor and unveiled the mysteries of machismo behavior in the context of racial, gender, and economic oppression. Machismo is the professor of Black men. He proliferates the luxuries of sex, aggression, power, deviance, and aloofness. Real Men Wear PINK uses the creativity of storytelling to unveil how machismo manifests in four Black male collegians from diverse backgrounds- Avery Johnson, Jaleen Gonzalez, Julius Simba-Simbi, and Pink McCaskell Jr. At the crossroads, each is challenged with accepting their past and forging a promising future. The book uniquely captures the struggles of being Black, male, and a collegian by using parables rooted in theory and practice to reimagine Black males' purpose, integrity, nurture, and knowledge- PINK.

There are a number of baseball players who live out a profound faith. There are also people of faith who love the game of baseball. To find people who understand the nuances of the game of baseball through a framework of theology is unique. A Theologian and a Baseball Fan: What Could Go Wrong? explores aspects of the game of baseball that evoke images from biblical stories and theological themes. Using a theological framework to analyze the game of baseball provides a much more interesting, if not deeper, experience of the game. It is much more than a game from this perspective. It is much more than life. Baseball becomes a reflection of the deepest meaning of life. Both baseball and faith can be described as journeys. The journey of faith begins in the wilderness as we pursue the call of God in our lives. The journey of baseball comes on two levels--one as a player striving to become a major leaguer and two as a fan whose love of baseball may be generational or dream inspired or both. We begin with the journeys of faith and baseball in section 1. Section 2 looks at the social and cultural context of faith and baseball. Both have experienced and initiated social change. Section 3 identifies how baseball and faith deal with rule breakers or sinners. Section 4 shows the relationship between baseball and faith in their unusual personalities and goals of perfection. Section 5 is a potpourri of theological images that can be found in baseball. Finally, any theological discussion requires consideration of sacrament. Maybe surprisingly, there are sacramental images in baseball. On one level, A Theologian and a Baseball Fan: What Could Go Wrong? is an autobiography of Dan Flanagan. He traces how he was first introduced to baseball through his playing days and into his professional involvement in broadcasting, which gave him access to major league baseball in a way he was unable to achieve as a player. His multiple universes of interest come together in this book. His years of biblical teaching is evident. The breadth of his reading adds interest. His years of playing the game provides a flavor of legitimacy of one who knows the game of baseball. A Theologian and a Baseball Fan: What Could Go Wrong? will challenge you and entertain you as a baseball fan and as a person of faith. It will expand your love of both!

Give. Live. Save. is a counterintuitive, common-sense way to look at and win in your finances. Winning in your finances is any small financial discipline created that helps you produce forward momentum on your financial journey. These disciplines include the first three nonnegotiables in your budget, which should also be prioritized in your life. These disciplines are needed for you to build a solid foundation for today and will help you build a legacy for tomorrow.Start with give because it forces you to live on less than you make, softens your heart, and makes you a better person. You become more outwardly focused, and it helps you stop comparing your life to others. This will help you clear clutter from your life by consuming less nonessentials and just collecting stuff.Next is live. Your family is your support system. As they are your support system, it is your responsibility to make sure your family has their basics needs covered! Make sure your family has food on the table, roof over their heads, and basic transportation and clothing before you even worry about paying your other bills. Taking care of your family will help them see your vision and be all the support you need to help the entire family win financially and build a legacy for future generations. You will also be taught the importance of getting out of debt in order to build a solid foundation for your financial future. The final one is save. Saving is all about protecting your current financial situation by helping you stay on solid ground by saying no to debt. You will be taught to use your own money to cover your emergencies, fund your lifestyle, and plan for your future.Prioritizing these three disciplines in your finances will not only help you win financially but these disciplines will translate into many other areas of your life.

When people think of Florida, what comes to mind are sandy beaches, alligators, and Mickey Mouse. Few realize that Florida was the third state to secede from the Union. It was also the smallest in population, being referred to as the "smallest tadpole in the dirty pool of secession."This work does not concern itself with the politics, issues of slavery, economics, or military strategies of the Civil War. Instead, it focuses directly on the history and service of one Florida unit: The Marion Light Artillery. Raised in North Central Florida, this unit would be the only Florida artillery battery to see active combat outside the state, beginning from Richmond, Kentucky, through most of the campaigns of the Army of Tennessee, until their surrender in May of 1865 at Meridian, Mississippi.
