Do bởi Tăng-già-đề-bà vốn xuất thân từ Kaśmira (Kế-tân/ Ca-thấp-di-la); đây là thủ phủ, và cũng được xem là hệ chính thống, của Nhất thiết hữu bộ, do đó có thể khẳng định Trung A-hàm Hán dịch bởi Tăng-già-đề-bà cũng thuộc Hữu bộ. Điều này được phần lớn các nhà nghiên cứu hiện đại thừa nhận.Luật của các bộ phái, như Ngũ phần, Tăng-kỳ, Tứ phần, Thiện kiến, đều có quan điểm như nhau, theo đó, ngay trong đại hội kết tập lần thứ nhất tại thành Vương Xá các bộ loại Thánh điển nguyên thủy đã được định hình, trong đó, các kinh có lượng trung bình, không dài không ngắn được tập họp chung thành một bộ loại gọi là Trung.
