"Tight, lyrical, linguistically muscular, the poems he sent me grabbed the attention. Now, his first collection, Reading the Water, has just appeared and I'm delighted to see it's a stunning, well-crafted book.Reading the Water is a richly woven collection which capably showcases Schimmel's love of language, symbolism and poetic craft".Siobhan Harvey - Editor of Takahe Magazine at the time of the review.Paul Schimmel's debut collection is a quietly stunning achievement. These carefully crafted poems talk about our relationship to the natural world. They go beyond invention into discovery; on one hand paying scrupulous attention to what we can read in the landscapes of nature, and on the other going deeper into the often mysterious landscapes of the human heart.Michael Harlow - Recipient of the New Zealand Prime Minister's award for poetry in 2018.Praise for 'Sigmund Freud's Discovery of Psychoanalysis: conquistador and thinker' Routledge UK, 2014."So he has taken on a challenge [in writing yet another book on Freud] and it is one he succeeds in meeting. What is distinctive is Schimmel's generous, intelligent engagement with Freud's intellectual and emotional struggles..."From Humphrey Morris's review in: Journal of The American Psychoanalytic Association. In Adventures of an Au Pair, the author takes the reader on a journey to feel a whirlwind of sensations and engage emotionally to discover where social relations create deep interconnections. Viewed through the author's lens, it's a story of generational changes throughout which nostalgia merges with hope and zest for life. Based on the real life of the author born in ex-Yugoslavia, this autobiography depicts very well the divergence and the struggles of a country that has journeyed through communism and has experienced divisions in comparison to the democratic society of the United Kingdom and other nearby countries. Within its cover, Family represents a column with an unusual background. Friendship marks a pillar to rely on. Music and its evolution in technology (and those artists who made its history) function as background and soundtrack. A book that deserves to be read. Its sense of humour permeates throughout, making the narrative smooth, pleasant and compelling - a real treasure to dip into. Jonnathan South Born in the Seventies, in a country at the time called Yugoslavia, the author spent his childhood witnessing the communistic era of President Tito, with all the contradictions of a country whose boundaries (partially Balkan-called) historically have been widely disputed. When he decided to move to the UK, he was in his twenties and started to work as a male au pair, obtaining the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English. After writing for around thirty years for his own pleasure, in 2020, he published his first book, Morality As It Stands. His first-hand experience in different societies has exposed him to different ideologies of governance which have formed him as a person with a wider-lensed outlook on life. This book is the witty and emotionally provoking description of part of this adventurous and unconventional life.

A world in which only four humans remain, including Tom and Cathie, two young people who, for 19 years, have managed to survive against the injustices of the world using their skills. Four humans, seemingly different, each with their own strengths, who come together over issues of desperation and coexistence, representing the last human civilization. Each of them has a tragic story behind them and new adventures to face in order to survive the Extinction that has been striking humanity for years now. Tom (Thomas Baskerville), was born in Manchester but moved to North Wales only a few years later. It was not long before he was falling behind in class, he was eventually diagnosed as dyslexic. His parents and teachers wanted him to read more to practice, but he found children's books far too dull for him. Instead, he turned to longer, more difficult books containing far more interesting stories. He enjoyed getting lost in fictional worlds designed by other people, but eventually found it easier to lose himself in worlds of his own imagination. This was especially true during the more challenging periods of his life. His interest in science played an important role in developing believable worlds; an interest which eventually led to studying for a master's degree in Chemistry, but also opened his eyes to new possibilities for exploration of the stories trapped inside his head. Putting the stories to paper began more as a hobby, a time alone with his thoughts where he could let his imagination run riot. The more he wrote, the more he wanted to write. During his exams in school, he could use an offline computer to type his answers because of terrible handwriting and dyslexia. Spending so much time writing helped enormously with his spelling difficulties through the sheer volume of repetition. Now he is letting loose the stories from his imagination in the hopes others may get lost in his world, as he did with others.

What happens when a mother does not or cannot love her daughter? My Broken Mug: The Memoir of an Unwanted Daughter focuses on explaining what it feels like to be rejected by your own mother. An eye-opening journey in the life of Beatrice, the unappreciated daughter: she examines her mother's toxic behavior by pointing out the emotional trauma she had endured during the first two decades of her life. The impact this had on her life shaped the blueprint for most of her relationships during adulthood, where she experienced rejection once again: she went through two divorces and faced physical and emotional abuse by her second husband. For most of her life, Beatrice lacked self-confidence and struggled to control her emotions until she experienced a period of profound Spiritual Awakening that led to many positive changes, some of which are still ongoing. Today, she spreads the Word of God and uses her negative experiences to help others. A chosen disciple of God, Beatrice Lotter, is a Pastor from South Africa. Her whole life is a testimony to how a person can overcome challenging circumstances and obstacles. She is a daughter born out of wedlock whose name was later changed to Annemarie by the will of her stepfather's family. Nevertheless, she rightfully took back what was hers: her original identity. Over the years, Beatrice has blossomed into a spiritual leader who helps others understand that they can get through any difficulties that come in their way, just like she did. Despite the many hurdles, she always managed to pick herself back up and move forward because even in dark places, there is light. Today, Beatrice encourages others to receive God's guidance and love, and, not surprisingly, her name means "she who brings happiness": God has given her a gift and, it is indeed a blessing to be around her

They sold every extra produce to their neighbours. When he was five years old, he cried to go to school, that is why he went to school at an early age. He attended three schools up to Matric. The first School taught him a North Sotho Language, which was called Pedi in the North Transvaal at the time. The second School was a Primary School which taught him Tswana Language. His High School taught him South Sotho, in Kroonstad. After Matric, he started to work as a waiter then, in a Super Market Store, where he learned how to take stock and store it and make book work for the Company. The next work was in a meal Company in Kroonstad until he was employed at the Prison Department. As a hard worker, he excelled and got promoted up to leadership as an Instructor at the Baviaanspoort Training College.Afterwards, he was selected by the Army officials who were looking for Instructors to train the soldiers at the Army Training College in 21BN, Lenasia. He was one of the elected who went to the South African Defence Force. In the Army, he was an Infantry foot soldier. He was trained to go to the border War in the territory of the North West of South Africa and South West of Angola. After returning from the border, he was transferred to the Separate Development Country which was called Ciskei Bantustan. He excelled in all his duties until he was voted unanimously to be the President of that Home-land, Ciskei, after the Army overthrew President L.L. W Sebe. From that moment he became what he was never trained for, a politician, a diplomat, and an enforcer of the Law. Violence was so serious that his Country was on the edge of Civil War. There was the negotiation table, Codesa, the Bisho Massacre, the TRC and the Elections which led to Mr Nelson Mandela becoming the first black President of South Africa.
Breathless is, in name and in fact, a novel capable of taking the reader into an involuntary state of apnea, a long immersion in a literary dimension not so far from our recent reality. Facing the most violent pandemic of recent centuries, poised between rational conspiracy and actuality, Breathless, through the stories of its protagonists, takes the reader by the hand to the day when the HRFI group, of Islamic origin, decided to make known to the whole world the violence of their creation: a virus capable of wiping all infidels off the face of the earth. With this novel, Edward Clifford wants to give new hope to our world, but will hope alone be enough to save it from destruction? Edward Clifford was born in Zambia in 1964 but grew up and studied in South Africa, the homeland of his parents. After his studies in English and psychology, Clifford becomes an English teacher in South Africa and he teaches there for thirty years. At the age of fifty he decides to retire prematurely to teach in Kazakhstan, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Cambodia and other parts of the world. In his books, Clifford puts his peak of inspiration drawn from his travels, his work and his life experiences. Shortly after the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, Clifford returns to South Africa and writes Breathless, followed by another book awaiting publication. In his works, Clifford elegantly enhances the concept of equality, subtly underlining the idea and hope, common to all cultures, especially religious ones, of a better world.
Georgescu's Champion belongs to that rare and precious kind of winners who stand out from the crowd and yet inspire with their own unique example of life, which is inextricably bound to both the light of the scenes and the need to exceed physical limitations in order to create their own myth.By tracing the lines of the first steps to the narration of the most mature and captivating competitions, Georgescu makes the reader enter the deepest thoughts of his athlete, who is always aware to represent more than the attempt to reach a personal achievement, or the intimate claim of redeeming the soul from the sufferings and the sacrifices of the past, thus showing the strength which proudly soars from the banner of a whole nation in the moment of a single movement. Looking out of place, in the search for infinity, The Champion is an ode to remembrance and the mystifying power of glory. Cosmin Stefan Georgescu was born in Romania, in 1971. From an early age he was fascinated by words. He liked listening to his parents reading him bedtime stories, he used to learn a lot of poems by heart and recite them proudly. His first models were his parents, both of them teachers. However, Cosmin did not follow in his parents' footsteps and decided to become a doctor. He graduated from Carol Davilla Medical University in Bucharest in 1997. In 2015 he went to France and ever since he has been living and working there. He wrote and published the following books in Romania, UK and France: The Kiss that Severs Us, Advice I Would Give to No One, Aphorisms Made at Giurgiu, The Tin Ring, Letters to God returned to sender, Conseils que je ne donnerais à personne, The Maiorescunians, Full-moon above the Vosges, Animus in Anima. This is an account of a father's attempts to discover what has happened to his son, who disappeared in the Darien Gap Jungle in Panama, in Central America. Just how do you go about finding out what has happened to someone six thousand miles away in a Spanish-speaking country? At the start the father did not know for definite where how his son had disappeared, if he had had a companion or who that companion was, or if he had had a guide. The significant thing is that the search became a family affair (without divorce!), but then other people became involved - some complete strangers very generous and helpful, a genuine crook, and two largely incompetent detective agencies. After 9 months, it was resolved, free of any ransom demand, probably by direct contact with the guerrilla group, FARC, itself. When the two adventurers were released, the parents, Brian and Anne Winder, heard of ransom demands of $2.000,000 each which never reached them, and many situations where the two adventurers could easily have died, and their fate never be known. Brian Winder is a family man with three grown-up sons and a long-suffering wife who is a French teacher. He was born and educated with degrees in Classics and Philosophy with the Jesuits in Ireland. In his 20s he travelled in North Africa and most countries in Europe, and most interestingly in Russia when it opened its borders. He taught in a secondary school in Zambia and also worked in the copper mines in Zambia for 11 years and in London, after he specialised in computers and as an accountant. After retirement, he devoted himself full-time over 25 years to volunteering with many roles in charities serving the homeless and addicts. His favourite hobby is country dancing.
Could an American woman, already a grandmother, enjoy living her life in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a country known as one of the world's most repressive societies? A country with a vision of women and their freedoms different from what she was accustomed to? What the author found there, instead, were magical days, sand dunes reaching to the sky, unforgettable encounters, renown Bedouin hospitality, and a new love. All these new experiences led to a path of awareness and self-confidence that gave a new color to the life of a woman who wasn't finished exploring the world and learning from it. Find in these pages a new perspective on Saudi Arabia and a woman's rebirth in the beauties of a country too often considered devoid of wonders. As a child, Ava Kabouchy was fascinated by world maps, which later turned into travels to many parts of the world. She has worked in several African countries, created a microcredit group for women in Honduras, and did a volunteer photography gig for a clinic for a Mayan community in a remote mountainous region of Guatemala. Recently, she hiked along the Camino de Santiago in Spain and in France, and traveled in Morocco, fulfilling a childhood dream of walking barefoot in the Sahara. Saudi Arabia was never on Ava's list of travel destinations, but when she was offered a teaching position in Riyadh, she immediately knew that she would accept it. Already a grandmother when she left for Riyadh, she found new friends, adventures she could never have imagined, love, and a new lease on life. Ava is the author of the recently published Where in the World is Grammie Now?, a book for young readers to teach them about Saudi Arabia, a country not often studied in middle school curricula. The book also encourages other Grammies not to listen to what they say, but to go see. Ava makes her home in southwest France and on a remote island off the coast of Maine, USA.
