Included in this book are 23 Parables. They are short, and easy to read. After each parable there is a verse from the Bible that relates to the parable. When I was young, I found it hard to learn about the Bible and the teachings of God. I was able to understand, remember, and relate much better when I was given a story, and could paint my own picture in my head.As a Pastor I also found my students also enjoyed and remembered when they learned this way. This is the way I was taught, and so it will be the way I teach.

Ardyce West's compelling narrative examines the grief, pain and regret suffered by women and men who hide in the dark shadows of abortion. While acknowledging the pointed issues and opinions of both pro-life and pro-choice, West remains apolitical and non judgmental, conceding that many women and men involved in abortion successfully move on comfortably resolved to their decision. "I Never Heard You Cry" in fact never approaches political edict or social commentary regarding abortion. West focuses rather on the substantial number of people who do struggle with complex and deeply emotional post-abortion issues. In addition to relating the heartrending story of her own struggles and triumphs, West interviews a number of abortion survivors who have transcended the emotional, social, and political stigmas attached to this volatile issue. Interspersed are effective techniques designed to achieve self-forgiveness and spiritual healing.

Caught in the turbulent WW1 era, they were brought together in Halifax during the disastrous aftermath of the largest man-made explosion in history before Hiroshima. As turmoil threatens Laura's failing marriage, and a new love emerges, hauntings become more ominous. The question she still needs to answer is - why is the ghost dominating her life? When mysteries unravel, discoveries lead to an illumination of the past, a transformation of her present and a future with a new twist.

"Newbie Author" offers a unique perspective on the publishing world. Delve into the candid pages of this personal journal, chronicling the triumphs and trials of a self-publishing odyssey. Writing a story is just a part of being an author. There's much more to it. After self-publishing my first book, I documented my experiences during the first year and revisited them a decade later (2023) The resulting book is a collection of chapters that detail my personal journey from my rookie year to now. It's not a guidebook, but rather a personal account of successes, failures, and obstacles as I pursued the independent publishing path. The chapters are structured as a "then and now" narrative, covering my experiences from the early days to the present.

"The city of Seattle and Capitol Hill neighborhood described in this book (2007-1994) no longer exist. When Jack Waste arrived in 1994, Seattle was a dream. Capitol Hill was a dream. Now they are ghosts of dreams and you who read this are dreamers of ghosts."The city of Seattle and Capitol Hill neighborhood described in this book (2007-1994) no longer exist. When did the old Seattle die? There were many previous incarnations of the city, of course, but one could make a case for etching the year 2014 into the gravestone. In 2014, the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl and reached the previously unattainable peak. Seattle was no longer an underdog city.Tears of grief for its lost status didn't flow until the shock ending of the following year's Super Bowl. Blinded by championship hubris, the coaches elected to pass from the one-yard line with a minute left instead of giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch for the win. The pass was intercepted, the Seahawks lost, and Seattle fell hard from the top of the mountain. The next morning, the city woke up a bitter loser, no longer comforted by the reassuring blanket of its previous underdog status.Old Capitol Hill died in 2014 too. Half Price Books closed in June. When Margaret Cavendish published her first collection of dramatic work in 1662, she was keenly aware that none of her comedies or tragedies was unlikely to be acted, at least in her lifetime--but that did not deter her. "To those that do delight in scenes and wit / I dedicate my book," she writes at the beginning of the volume entitled, simply, "Plays."As for the hard reality that her plays were not to be produced? She has an answer for that as well: "For all the time my plays a-making were, / My brain the stage, my thoughts were acting there.""The Female Academy," the last play in her 1662 collection, opens with a fait accompli-a group of "old matrons" has established an educational institution devoted exclusively to the education of young women, "a house wherein a company of young ladies are instructed . . . to speak wittily and rationally, . . . to behave themselves handsomely, and to live virtuously." In this play, Cavendish presents the Female Academy as an institution created by women, inhabited solely by women, and operated for the benefit of women. The play also allows us to see the reactions of men, excluded from the Female Academy. Instead of ignoring the school, or wishing its young pupils well in their educational pursuits, men can't stay away-they hang around and spy on what's going on through "a large open grate" that allows them to hear the lectures being given inside. The play alternates scenes between the young women inside the Female Academy and the increasingly frustrated men in the outside world. This new edition, designed for classroom use, provides an ample introduction to Cavendish and her work, a carefully modernized text, with helpful glosses and notes, and a useful bibliography with references for further reading.

If you love R. A. Lafferty's wondrous and transpossible stories, you've come to that love by unmarked roads. You've made your own way into one of the densest and most crazily jigsawed mythworlds ever created-a body of work that nobody will ever see all the way into, and no two will ever see the same way. You've helped dig out a labyrinth, and it's a joyous thing, but the labyrinth is more than the digging. This volume is dedicated to the observation that the fog of obscurity is ever so slowly lifting from Lafferty's world, and every year it's a little easier to find your way in. It's dedicated to all the raw colts-the old ones and young-who are coming to these works for the first time. If you thought you could escape Mel Vil's vitriolic poetry, it's because he's been busy lately... sharpening his sword. And so you're wrong. His latest regurgitation of hatred is here, and it ups the ante by addressing the broader issues of today's rotten society. 'Neocon Hard-on' is the acid reflux of the great depression. He targets the antagonists of peace, privacy and harmony, painting them in their true colours. But not wanting to come across as a purely vindictive, he follows up by drawing back the curtain to his window on civility, relationships and work.

There is no existing map of civilization one can use as a reference to the pattern of human history. Though repeated, the rise and fall of civilizations are of the same culture but in different nuance. Yet, each civilization has its owned characteristics. For this reason, mapping of civilizations is indeed elementary that people might have overlooked it. The purpose of this book is to map the existing civilization on earth, according to the cultural lines. The map of civilization delineates a geocultural synthesis that can be used not only to find the origin of civilization but also to know the trail of each civilization in the world, the spread and its transformation, and also its connection one another. Ultimately, man is able to build civilization toward perfection.
